Violet

"Focus"! He said.

"Listen to my voice and concentrate".

"Hear my breathing and allow your wolf's senses to follow my movements through your mind".

My eyes were closed as I listened to the instructions given to me.

"You must not just rely on your own eyes but on your wolfs senses. When we give ourselves fully to our wolves, that is when we reach our true potential. But you must draw on your wolfs abilities in human form".

"This means you must clear your mind and forget everything else. There is only you and your enemy and your enemy will always seek to distract you."

I closed my mind off to any other sounds other than that of my target. I could hear his breathing. His racing heart and his poor attempts to cover up the sounds of his footfalls as he paced quietly a few hundred yards in front of me. The sole aim of throwing me off. I slowed my breathing and allowed Layla to take partial control of my body. I had been practicing this now for what seemed like hours. Not giving my wolf full control but allowing her to inhabit my human form partially, so I was part wolf and part human at the same time. As we were both used to being either one or the other at any one given time it was a major challenge for us to rely on the other and not change. I waited for an opening as I played with the dagger in my hand. Waiting for the right moment to strike.

I knew it. As soon as he released his dagger I heard the sound it made in the air as it travelled towards me at high speed. It was almost as if I could 'see' it clearly travel towards me even though my eyes were blindfolded. The swooshing noise it made was approaching on my left and I ducked to avoid my enemies dagger. As I swung my body in a circle I released my own dagger and aimed It towards my target who was completely taken unawares. The whole thing felt like it took place in slow motion until...

I heard the 'Yelp' and smiled.

Removing my blind fold I saw Trevor was currently suspended in the air and impaled to the tree behind him. Well, not fully. The dagger had made contact with his shirt right above his shoulder and attached him to the tree like a pinyada. Right where I had been aiming. With his attempt to untangle himself he squirmed and huffed.

"You're supposed to be taking this seriously Luna".

"I am taking this seriously Trevor. If I had of aimed a few inches lower I could have penetrated your heart". I placed my hands on my hips and smiled as I looked up at him, making no attempt to help him down. When he finally retrieved the dagger from the tree and his feet touched the forest floor he sent a glare my way.

"Hand to hand next"! He said as he threw my dagger to the ground in a strop.

My face became serious and I raised my arms in preparation for his attack.

"When your enemy speaks, what do you do"?

"I watch his body for signals of his attack and I block out his voice".

He threw a punch towards my face and I blocked his arm easily, kicked out towards his left leg to watch him drop to the ground before standing again.

I circled him and raised my hand again. Waiting for his next strike.

"When your enemy fains injury what do you do"?

"I keep attacking until he is dead. There is no mercy for my enemies".

He stood abruptly from his position on the floor and charged towards me. I ducked low and swung my leg out to swipe his legs out from under him. He flew threw the air above me and I stood to my full height again, turning to face my enemy. As I saw him lay on the floor I grabbed his ankle from behind and swung him mercilessly into a nearby tree. I heard him groan as there was a sound of something cracking. Not quite sure if that was him or the tree.

When he stood on shaky legs I raised my arms again. That's when I heard it. An attack from behind. Smiling I swerved the punch which was aimed at the back of my head and punched my adversary in their stomach. Temporarily winding them. When they doubled over I took the opportunity to grab the shirt on their back and throw them ten feet away towards a still recovering Trevor. This knocked down Trevor again like a bowling pin and he swore in pain.

Another attacker unexpectedly charged at me from my right, this time they surprisingly carried a sword with them. I swerved to avoid their long strokes towards my face and took a few steps back each time. When he raised the sword high above his head on the fourth strike I knew I had my opening. I sent a long kick into his groin and grabbed a hold of the wrist which held the sword. Twisting his arm behind his back I heard the break of his shoulder blade and kicked his lumber pushing him forward into the dirt. I pointed the sword at his throat and looked towards a very shocked Trevor. Throwing the sword onto the floor I growled at the wolf in front of me who had dared to attack with a weapon.

"This was an arm to arm training spat. Why would you bring a weapon into it"? I reprimanded. He was a warrior from Bloodstone and looked towards his Gamma for help.

"I asked for him to do so Luna. You need to be prepared at all times and you cannot rely on your enemies word. An enemy will have no honour during a battle". Said Trevor.

I sighed and nodded. Another lesson he was trying to teach me. I crossed my arms in front of me and looked towards the men who had gathered around the forests area we were currently training in. Some from Bloodstone and some were from Moonlight. Amongst the crowd I could see my 'father'. Alpha kiron looked proud at my recent triumph and I had to fight the urge to smile in response to him. An angry looking Kieron stood off to his right, I sent him a small smile but it was not returned.

"Right, I want five volunteers" said Trevor as he looked towards the crowd. There were a few who hesitated but slowly stepped forward. Trevor turned to me.

"Choose your weapon". He said.

I turned towards the weapons which Trevor had brought. An axe, sword, crossbow and rope.

"Choose wisely" advised Trevor as he approached me.

"There are five of them and one of you. You need something to keep them at arms length and to also defend you and others if needed".

Taking on board his advice I chose my poison. As I turned around there were a few shocked faces and a few of the men who had volunteered started to snicker.

Trevor grinned when he saw the rope in my hands.

He grabbed Kieron's shoulder and forcefully placed him into the circle along with the other five men. Keiron looked bored and pissed that he was being dragged into all of this. My father also looked confused as to what Trevor's motives might be.

"Stand behind your sister" Trevor motioned towards me. Kieron said nothing but sauntered slowly to stand behind me. His every movement screamed defiance. Trevor then addressed the crowd.

"Luna Anya was forced to defend someone she loved during the trials. She was given little space to manoeuvre in and had to defend someone who could not move freely. Your aim Luna is to protect your brother with your life and not allow the five wolves in front of you to reach him".

"I guess I'm done for then" spat kieron into my ear quietly.

"You will be if you don't shut up" I raised an eyebrow to him and he rolled his eyes.

I lengthened the rope and wrapped it around my hands tightly, testing its resistance and durability. Dropping a considerable length to the floor I waited for my first attacker to initiate the fight.

"Stay with me at all times" I told kieron. He nodded.

Two of the five wolves shifted and my eyes widened. Three remained in their human form which meant I had to adapt quickly to different fighting styles. Fighting wolves and humans with supernatural speed, one with jaws and claws and the other with hands and feet who were more agile without their wolf was going be an absolute bitch. Kieron coughed behind me in apprehension.

I guess he was mute for the first time since I met him a few days ago, which gave me a chance to think.

One of the wolves to my right attacked first as the others held back. As he approached I turned quickly and wiped out my rope with speed. It wrapped around the wolves front paws and I pulled. Hard! He went down like a sack of potatoes as I retrieved the rope again. He seemed to have injured his neck on the way down so that gave me a couple of minutes to deal with the rest. I side stepped a few paces to my left and Kieron followed suit with my movements from behind. Leading him away from the recovering wolf on the floor. Two of the men who remained in their human form attacked next. I swung out my rope again which strangled the one man closest to me. He clawed at the rope as the other one rounded on me to my left. Pulling tightly on the rope to keep the one wolf engaged I leant to my right and licked the other wolf in his chest. This sent him spiraling through the air. I felt a certain satisfaction course through me when I heard the breaking of his bones hitting a tree. Kicking the strangled wolf in front of me I released the rope from his neck as he took desperate breaths of air into his lungs as another wolf flew threw through the air towards us.

"MOVE" I shouted to Kieron.

He followed my lead and dived out of the way of the wolf who skidded along the floor behind us before turning around to growl at his missed prey. The last wolf and man standing closed in on us from either side and I had to use my periphery to watch their movements. Raising my arm I began to swing the rope to gain momentum. As the man attacked first I wiped the rope towards his face which threw him away from us. I watched him grab a hold of his cheek as the force of the rope had created a harsh gash which was now bleeding.

He'll live. I thought.

Kieron said nothing however as he watched my movements. I watched the final wolf circle us slowly. He growled and his jaws snapped out towards me in warning. I swung the rope around again as I saw the other four remaining wolves stand and shift. All of them approached to stand behind the fifth. Waiting to strike in wolf form. As I swung the rope in a circle again I noticed Violet light which spread out from my hands and moved fluidly like a snake to wrap around the rope. The wolves eyes widened and a few of the spectators gasped. When all three of them attacked simultaneously I raised my rope high above my head and slammed it down into the ground of the forest floor. One by one the wolves were thrown back by the Violet wave of light. They were thrown threw the air at high speed and when they finally hit the floor they skidded along the ground painfully. When they came to an abrupt halt, they all shifted and began moaning and whining out in pain.

Silence.

No one spoke but many looked towards me in fear. For once, even Trevor was quiet. The only movement visible was that of my father racing towards me in blind panic. He grabbed a hold of my arm and dragged me from the training area. He said nothing and I was in stunned silence myself as I was charged towards his tent. When we finally made it he threw me inside and rounded on me.

"You have the same powers your mother did"?

I nodded.

"Why didn't you mention this before? Do you know how much trouble you could be in by revealing what you did today"?

"I am not afraid of them. Let them come". I said.

"You silly child. You have no idea what could happen when this gets out. What the council could do to you. What the other Alpha's could do"! His eyes were filled with rage and his arms were gesticulating wildly.

"The Rogue King is the only wolf I would use my powers on to kill. And besides. I have no control over them. I cannot use them at will. They only show themselves when they think I'm in danger. It's more of a protective thing".

He covered his eyes with his hands as Kieron and Trevor entered the tent out of the breath.

"What the hell is she"? Asked kieron.

Alpha Kiron sent a warning glare my way to say nothing.

"A white wolf". Explained Trevor with an excited expression.

"There is nothing to be excited about" My father admonished.

"This is a death sentence".

I huffed.

"Whether It is or it isn't, it's a part of who I am and I won't hide from anyone".

"That's all well and fair when you have no one you care about Violet. But when your powers are the reason the people most closest to you are being murdered for it, maybe then you'll see it differently".

My defiance waned as I saw the pain in his eyes. He was thinking of my mother I'm sure he was.

"Either way.... that was pretty cool". My head swung to my brothers grinning face. I gave him a small smile. Maybe we could bond over this right? Looking around I noticed that my fathers bags seemed to be packed.

"I am leaving for the Alpha's meeting now and Kieron is coming with me. I am trusting you here Violet to look after the camp in my absence. Can you be trusted"?

"Why can't I come with you"?!

"Because you are a Luna, NOT an Alpha and considering how things are with this Rogue King I don't want you anywhere near your old pack".

My eyes narrowed and I looked to the floor. I knew I was being petulant but I couldnt help it. I wanted to do all of the things my father and brother were doing. Someone touched my shoulder and when I looked up it was my father smiling down at me.

"I am proud of you Violet, I just worry for you and I need to know you'll be safe when we leave you here". He said.

Kieron snorted and we both turned to face him. Pointing towards the forest we just left and he said..

"Have you seen the five broken wolves out there? I'm pretty sure she's fine on her own for a few days dad".

Trevor laughed and we all followed suit.

When my father stepped away Kieron approached hesitantly. He scratched the back of his head and looked me in the eyes. I waited for him to speak as our Father and Trevor watched on.

"When you first came here, you said that you didn't have a good experience with most of the men in your life. I feel like I've only added to it".

I had no words to say to him so I just listened.

"When I see Alpha Demitri... I'll punch him for you".

We all laughed out loud together and I patted his shoulder.

"Thanks Kieron" I said.

He ruffled my hair and I shot him a glare as my father said...

"Right.. get your things together Kieron. Were heading off".

As we left the tent I was astounded to find all of Moonlight' warriors and Bloodstones women and children waiting outside for us all standing quietly in wait. Kieron and Alpha kiron instinctively stepped in front of me. Waiting on the hate they were sure was to follow after I had revealed myself and my true identity in the forest.

A man approached us to speak on behalf of the crowd which had gathered.

"Luna Violet".

We waited.

"Moonlight and Bloodstone would like to formally accept you as our Luna as the Goddess intended. Will you stand by us"?

Kieron looked down towards me and I looked to him. Searching his eyes for any hatred. Instead he gave me a small smile in approval and I turned towards the man who spoke.

"I accept".

Everyone cheered and talked of the impending war with the Rogues. However, when I turned towards my father there was nothing but fear in his eyes. He was quiet and reserved. No happiness at the scene in front of him.

When we left the crowd I walked towards the edge if the camps boundaries with my brother and father. Trevor walked slowly behind us.

"Good luck with your meeting dad". I said.

He turned quickly towards me and had tears in his eyes. It was the first time since we met that I had given him the privilege of being my father. Considering the last one I had, he couldnt do much worse could he? He pulled me in close to him for a hug and I wrapped my arms around him. Savouring the moment.

"I'll always take care of you little one. You and your brother. The three of us will always take care of one another".

Pulling back I held my pinky between us with a raised brow...

"Promise"? I said

He grinned and entwined our pinkies together. We looked towards kieron next and he joined us.

"We Promise" they said in unison.

Watching them leave was a turning point for me. I now had a family to protect. Hopefully this meeting with Demitri went well and they could finally put together a solution for the threat the werewolf race were faced with. Trevor placed his hand on my shoulder from behind offering kind words of support.

"They will be fine Luna. No need to worry".

Turning towards him I smiled.

"Now". He said.. his face turned serious.

"We should get you back to training.

I rolled my eyes.

"Oh goodie"! I said
