《White Wolf Legacy {Book One}》Slippery Eels

2months later.......

'Don't even think about dropping the ball little girl'...... shouted Trevor the Turd. I heard someone give a low chuckle behind me and I wanted nothing more than to flatten them and I wobbled slightly.

'Hey!!! You're losing concentration.... focus shewolf'. My tormentor, sorry 'trainer' said.

I breathed in through my nose and out of my mouth like I had been told but the pain was a ridiculous now. I had been in a plank position for over 40 minutes and I still had 2 minutes to go until I would break the packs record for longest plank holder. Not how I would prefer to be remembered if I was honest with you but I got myself into this mess and decided it was only reasonable to prove to everyone how strong I really was. Just mind over matter, mind over matter...

I repeated it over and over again inside my head like my own personal mantra. Trying desperately to take my mind off of the pain. My arms were about to drop off and I haven't felt my legs since 15 minutes ago but I assumed they were still there. Why I get myself into these situations I'll never know but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

The Turd and I were sparring earlier and I bested him. I've found it easier and easier to take on my opponents now and win. It's like I've gotten used to their moves but I can almost predict what they will do and I'm always the quickest to react and the first to plant the final killer blows. Especially now that I have an incentive to improve my fighting ability in order to protect Anya and Noah from the physco 'siblings'.

After winning the match with Trevor, I thought it would be a good idea to taunt him with a 'I'm so good now i could probably win any challenge you give me'. That challenge is my current predicament and a mistake I wasnt likely to make again.

I saw a pair of boots in front of my face and when I looked up I saw Alec crouching down in front of me. Typical.

I also challenged him to a sparring session straight after this and Im guessing he didn't forget about it in the last 40 minutes considering he is now all up in my grill. Why couldnt I just keep my mouth shut. I decided to ignore him and go back to my mind over matter mantra as my arms were shaking like I don't know what and I forgot to breathe again which doesn't help.... when he said....

'Miss Violet, thank you for the riveting entertainment today...you know I love to watch a woman quiver infront of me'. I caught the smile in his voice as I stared at the floor.

'Keep watching then buddy' I said through gritted teeth. He laughed.

'TIME'? I shouted

'20 seconds left shewolf'.... said The Turd.

The end was finally in sight I just needed to stay focused.

'You might win this planking competition Violet, but you know your gonna loose against me, right'? Said Alec.

I slowly brought my eyes up to Alec and lifted my eyebrow to him 'That's exactly what Trevor the Turd said' and I grinned. Call me a spoil sport but I'm not a fan of men who get too cocky. I like to bring them down to size wherever possible.

I think Trevor heard my comment because I felt a heavy boot add a little pressure applied on my lower back and I swear to God I nearly caved right then and there. I threw a dagger over my shoulder to my best friend with the timer and he gave me one of those dazzling sneers of his. If only looks could kill hey?

'5, 4, 3, 2, 1'........ and I dropped to the ground with a thump!

'Ughhhh....' I exclaimed.

'Come on then little girl....stop resting and stretch out before your fight with Beta Alec'.

'WHAT?..... 'can you at least give me some time to recover'? I whined.

Trevor popped a finger on his chin...taking on a thoughtful stature....'noooope'... he popped the 'p' at the end and I wanted nothing more than to kick him in the balls. (Note to self for future reference).

I started stretching into a downward dog and saw Alec remove his shirt and do the same in preparation for our fight. I didnt want to be caught ogling so to speak so i then walked over to the weapons table to pick from a wonderful arrangement of dangerous items. My absolute favourite if I say so myself. I had become a bit of a pro with my weapon training... more so than with hand to hand combat. I was too fast for them to catch me when I had a weapon in my hand and as long as I could use something to keep the taller men at a distance I was usually on track to win. After wearing down my arms with my plank competition I thought it wouldn't do me any good to handle a heavy weapon right now, so swords were out. I needed something light that could move as fast as I did. An Axe, a crossbow and a stake were all that were left, I usually favoured a chain that I could whip around with a little knife on the end, it kept all these wolves at bay that's for sure, but a guy named Freddie broke them earlier. I sighed and my eye caught the silver stake. They were no longer than about 10 inches in length and 5 in width. Made out of solid silver and they were a perfect weapon for a woman to wield considering how light they were and this would most definitely be a good weapon for me in this fight with Alec.

'Hurry up Princess I'm getting cold over here' ... Alec said flirtaciously and a few of the male wolves laughed. This fight seemed to have attracted a few of Liam's guards as spectators and they caged Alec and I in around the Matt we were now going to use for our fight.

I glanced over to Trevor and he smirked, he looked far too pleased with himself. Probably thinking I was going to get my comeuppance after he failed to do that himself. I blew out a breath I had been holding and walked over to the matt. This would never have happened in RedFang, the very idea of a male and a 'Beta' at that fighting with a shewolf would have been scoffed at. Males were the protectors, not the other way around. This is why I was enjoying my time so much here. I felt free, no chains and no 200 year old traditional male 'thinning' holding me back. Even though I had been improving during my training, most of the men here today had not yet seen me fight and that goaded me into this next level of concentration I was now going for. I eyed my opponent, not as a woman looking at a sexy guy, but as a predator. I wanted to beat him, to show him how much I have improved and my wolf side also wanted to show these men who was boss. No way in hell was I going to loose today. I scrutinised Alec from head to toe. I had seen him fight with a few others and noticed how he used his body weight in a fight. He would always attack first and fast. Hoping to always throw his partner off their game. I couldn't let that happen so I decided I would do everything the opposite way to what I normally do. He watched me today during practice and I'm pretty sure he thought he had this in the bag. My competitive streak was reaching the surface and I was more than ready to start and finish this fight.

I saw a few of the men laughing behind me and when I made eye contact with Alec I assumed he must have said something funny. I tuned everyone else out. And started to plan my strategy. Alec had chosen a sword. A long and heavy one at that. He was strong and I knew the swings and length of the sword would keep me at arms length but the amount energy it would take to swing and miss would cost him this fight, especially if I made sure that he would always miss.

'Use our speed to your advantage Vi'.

I listened to Layla and nodded my head in agreeance to her advice. When Alec realised I wasn't smiling or engaging in his banter he turned serious himself. He eyed me up and down and his brain seemed to register that I meant business and he looked flustered for a moment before masking his emotions but not before I saw them. If he was expecting to have to go easy on me he was going to be in for a shock. He looked nervous for a moment and then shook it off.

'When I say attack, you engage. When I call halt you stop and the loser concedes... am I understood'? Said Trevor.

I nodded and so did Alec.

'Attack!' ... said Trevor.

I didn't even allow Alec to blink before springing into action. He jumped back a few paces and had to bend his back to avoid the swipe of my stake to his face. I didnt stop and thrusted my hand toward his face again, my stake made contact with his chin and I saw the blood before I heard him groan. He didn't even have a chance to raise his sword before I kicked him in his chest. He went flying backwards and would have come off of the matt we were sparring on if a few of his men behind him didn't steady his balance. Everyone watching went quiet and I widened my stance. Allowing him a breather before attacking again. He looked confused for a moment and shrugged off the hands holding him up right, so I allowed him space. He entered the middle of the matt again and started to slowly circle me, finally..... he is seeing me a real threat. I stayed where I was.... waiting. He walked behind me and I closed my eyes. I heard the whoosh of his sword to my right before I saw it and preempted his attack. The sword was angled in an arc and was intended to swipe down onto my shoulder but I evaded it by diving to the floor and swiping his legs out from under him, he hit the ground with a thud and I decided that speed was my best option as i proceeded to lash out with my stake making him have to move quickly and roll away from me after every swipe. He finally got out of my range before I made contact with his shoulder. We were squatting before we both slowly stood and circled one another again. He was out of breath at this point and obviously worried about 'what my limits would be' and if i would really hurt him. He kept looking down and then back to my face again trying to make out what move I intended to do next, but I had no intention of attacking him first again, he would be expecting that.

I waited and he eventually ran towards me intending to push hid sword straight toward my stomach, I evaded his blow and blocked it with my stake and pushed it down to the hilt of his sword, ultimately blocking him from moving it. With my other hand I circled his sword between us and around in an arch before I punched him in the face. The shock on his face was priceless but I didnt stop there, when he swung again I avoided it, he swung again and he missed. We kept this dance up for a short while and I wasnt even out of breath. But Alec was. He started to get angry but most importantly, he was getting tired. I saw my opening when he raised his sword above his head. I kicked his groin which made him drop and double over slightly, not much but enough for me to disarm him. Once the sword clattered to the ground I swiped his supporting leg and he hit the ground hard before I raised my stake in the air and brought it down to his face with a speed I didnt know I possessed. Everyone gasped in the second it took for me to move my stake just above his eye......

'HALT'!!!!!!!!!! Trevor practically had a hernia at the idea of me taking his Beta's eye out but my control and reflexes meant I stopped within an inch of his cornea.

Alec was breathing heavily at this point and it was the only sound in the room. He was staring at me in awe and he looked a little afraid.

'Do you concede'? I asked low. I knew I sounded frightening but I was enjoying this. He nodded and I noticed that his leg that i had hit earlier was trembling slightly and i knew i must have hit a nerve. I couldn't help myself.....

I grinned 'I'm pleased to hear it, I have to say that I love seeing a man tremble beneath me'. His eyes turned stormy and dark with lust. He was pissed that he had to concede in front of his men and I just added salt to the wound but he deserved it. I stood and looked up at the men around me.

Respect. That's the look on the faces of the wolves around me. A few had their mouths open and they parted so I could walk through them. My wolf was emitting Alpha waves and a few of them showed me their knecks in submission. I saw a few of them checking me out with renewed interest and grinned when I heard Alec's low growl from behind me. I strutted out of the building like a cat and knew every one of them was watching. When I got around the corner i giggled to myself before I heard hushed voices around the side of the gym. Too far away for me to hear anything until I saw Will and Adam conversing together very quietly. Ughhhhh I almost forgot about them..... almost.

I rolled my eyes and proceeded to walk back to the main pack house. Everything had gone smoothly the last few months. The 'siblings' didn't put a foot wrong and they went out of their way to be nice to me everytime Anya or Liam were around. It was sickening. I couldn't pull them up on anything. Anya spent most of her time now with Miriam and I was a little jealous I have to say. Anya assured me that she was close to convincing them to let her take care of Noah full time and that's the only reason why I tolerated them. I would occasionally throw in the odd remark or two and Anya would bite her tongue looking angry, but she never said anything.

Have you ever despised someone so much that everything they do just annoys you? Miriam or 'Tink' only had to breathe and I wanted to snap her throat. Liam promised to stay around Anya when I was training otherwise I would never leave her side which she found a little suffocating, but she was my friend and I wanted to protect her. They might not be doing anything sneaky right now but that didn't mean i trusted them. Being weird didnt make you a sociopath I suppose but they were suspicious and creepy and I had ran out of things to accuse them of as of late without sounded ridiculous.

Liam decided to interview them all a few weeks ago and guess what ... their stories were all the same. Apart from Matthew of course, he was still pretending to be mute, of that I was sure. He wrote a testimony for Liam in his presence and guess what, word for word of it matched everything his brothers and sister had said. No detail was left out. I felt like I was going insane, like I was looking for absolutely anything and still couldn't find any evidence and the worst part of it all was that Alec started believing their story too. He even convinced Liam not to tell the council or the other Alpha's about them being here. He was convinced they would interrogate them and rightfully so in my book.

Their story was that the attack came in the dead of night whilst everyone was sleeping. And before they knew what was happening most, if not all of the pack was killed. Because werewolves don't have good hearing I suppose! I mentally eye rolled.

Apparently, their Alpha's didn't have anyone out on patrol or guarding the pack like every other pack does in this country. It was lie, after lie, after lie and I was hitting my head against a brick wall.

Noah at least began to actually resemble a boy of his age. He was introduced to another little girl named Peggy. Peggy just turned 5 and she was the life and soul of the party if you know what I mean. She was so adorable and everyone couldn't resist a game of tea house and picnic teddy bear parties when she asked. Noah enjoyed her company though which was so lovely to see. He was still introverted around the siblings but seemed to come out of his shell practically around everyone else. Anya was reading him bed time stories or teaching him how to bake cookies and he spent every other waking moment asking where Peggy was and if her mommy would let her play with him. Peggy had a bright pink teddy bear named Trixie and if anyone touched Trixie without asking her first, I swear.... the world was close to ending. It was really sweet seeing them both play together and Anya looked happy watching them.

As I entered the pack house I saw Matty crossed legged on the floor in the living room rocking Peggy's pink Teddy bear to sleep. I narrowed my eyes and watched as she giggled and pretended to feed her Teddy some milk like a baby. I really didnt want him anywhere near her or around any child for that matter unsupervised. He gave you the creeps just looking at him and everything about this situation was wrong. Why was he left alone with her? I scanned the lower floor of the house but no one was here. I walked over to Peggy and interrupted.

'Peggy... wanna play tag outside with Aunt Vi'?

Her eyes sparkled with excitement and she shouted 'yes'! But then told me she had to put Teddy or 'Trixie' to bed first... I told her I would wait for her and when I leant against the door I saw Matthew staring at me again in silence. He glared and I knew if we were on our own he probably would have attacked me. He was warring with his wolf internally and it was visible to see. His wolf was giving off dominant vibes. He was completely unstable and the faster I could get Peggy away from him the better. He closed his eyes and sniffed the air like the absolute lunatic that he was and when he opened his eyes he smiled at me.

I glared and clenched my fists. And just as Peggy started to run to me he hit her in the back and she went flying to the ground and hit her head.

My mouth dropped wide open in absolute shock. He just hit a five year old girl and I'll be damned if I didnt loose my shit. I ran to her and picked her up in my arms... she was floppy like a doll and I checked to see that she was still breathing. She was, and just seemed to be knocked out with the force of the blow to her head. She was starting to get a red mark on her forehead and my Luna instincts to protect kicked in. She was still a wolf child and even though they were vulnerable and less strong as pups they were far more able to bounce back from injuries than human children were. I slowly lay her down onto the couch and brushed her hair away from her face. When I was happy with her current state after I wrapped her up in her favourite little blanket I slowly lifted my hateful eyes towards this piece of shit.

He grinned again and I lost it. I attacked with every fibre of my being. He looked so shocked it was laughable.

I grabbed his throat and dug my nails into his wind pipe cutting off any flow of air this prick could steal from the rest of us. I must have developed superhuman strength as I didnt even realise when I shoved his back into the wall behind him that it had cracked beneath his weight, I felt my eyes turn black in rage and I had to fight down this feeling of burning Violet energy inside of me as a fog of anger clouded my mind. I pushed him up the wall and held him in the air above me and gave him a little smile of my own when I saw him turn pink.

'Having no oxygen is a bitch isnt it'? I spat at him through gritted teeth.

I heard a scream and dropped him on the ground like a sack of potatoes. I turned on my heel ready for an attack and saw Anya wide eyed and terrified. She held Peggy in her arms and Noah was hiding behind her skirt.

'What are you doing Violet'? Anya said.

Her tone was accusing and I'm sure this didn't look good to outsiders so I tried to defend myself while the child beater on the floor drew his first breath again.

Liam came barging through into the house with Alec on his heels when he obviously heard Anya's scream.

'What's going on in here'? Liam demanded. Alec looked confused and Anya still looked scared of me which hurt me. Alot.

'Matthew hurt Peggy, he tripped her so that she hit her head on the floor. He knocked her out. I placed her on the sofa and then attacked him'.

'Was it an accident'? Liam asked.
