You lunged up hastily while the rest of the group froze. Some were trembling and others were lurking behind some people.
"Chad, come on!" You walked over to him and grabbed his arm. He shook his head.
"We have to go see-"
Another huge thump of the door and the sound of wood splitting told you that whoever was out there just broke the door down. Which was funny because you remembered the door was really big. Like big enough for the slender man to walk in with ease.
"Never mind. Looks like we don't have to go check." You said sarcastically. Chad glared at you and then looked towards the people cowering in the corner.
"Hide!" He yelled whispered to everyone. He snatched onto your wrist tightly and sped off, dragging you along. You almost fell over when he pulled you up the stairs and into the bedroom that was to the left. You both jumped underneath the bed that had wooden panels that you could pull down on the sides. You both fumbled with the boards and huddled close to each other.
Shrieking and crying out were heard down the stairs and then suddenly it goes quiet. You and Chad Luar both held your breath. Footsteps sauntered downstairs deliberately.
Chad scooted closer to you shaking slightly. You clasped his hand as the compartment door crashed open. Chad whimpered slightly.
You quickly covered his mouth with your hand. But it was too late.
The bed starting shaking violently. You almost let out a scream of terror. Instead of screaming, you closed your eyes wishing for the individual to go away.
And then everything stopped. Everything grew silent and peaceful.
Chad let out a sigh and started to reach for the wooden panel. You clutched his hand. He looked back at you and pulled out of your grip.
He pulled up the panel and...

The Hopeful Project
A pair of twins stumble their way into the world of blood magic, lizard people, and cultivation powered mecha-armor. And by stumble, I mean one of them falls on their face while the other laughs. [Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.
