《My Muted Alpha | ✔️》CHAPTER NINE

I groaned, smacking my head into the desk. The files around me ruffled and one of them fluttered down to the floor. This is why I can't do office jobs, it is so boring. After the picnic date, Kronos and I were swarmed with a bunch of paperwork to do. This kept us busy for about a 3 weeks and it was hard for Kronos and I to see each other as we were caught up with our duties. Being cooped up in my office, I felt depressed and a little lonely not being able to see my mate for so long.

Sighing, I strengthened my resolve.

About a few days ago, Kronos attempted to see me but Rain was flooding my thoughts with perverted ideas on what to do with him. The list went on and on, including hand cuffs or tying him up so we could ride him. Unfortunately, losing my control, I had to deny seeing Kronos as my wolf was about to take over. I did not want to forcibly jump him, as we both were not ready. My face quickly turned red at imaging it.

I quickly waved my hand in the air, trying to brush all the thoughts away.

It had been a few days since then, but I think it's only right for me to come to him this time instead. Nervousness filled my chest, as I started to fidget with my fingers.

God, only he can make me like this.

'.' Rain purred, mischief clouding her eyes.

Yeah, shut up and let's go to our mate. I quickly responded, shutting her down so that she didn't even have the chance to take over like last time.

Rain huffed but nodded.

Standing up from my chair, I quickly opened the door and left my office. I found myself walking, but soon after, found myself walking faster and faster until I was actually running. His office and my office were on the opposite sides of the pack house, as we were both equal in watching parts of the house. He watched one side and I watched the other.

Soon enough, I was in front of his office door. A lump formed in my throat, my anxiety starting to kick in as I found it difficult to swallow. It had only been 3 weeks since I saw him. Why am I so nervous?

Rain said, annoyed and impatient.

The bond started to hum lightly, noting that we were in approximately to one another. The only thing blocking it was this damn door.

Taking a deep breath, my hand gripped the doorknob and I opened it gently. My eyes searched the room as I found my mate, who had his head resting on the desk. Warmth flushed my being, taking the sight of him in. Closing the door gently, I walked to him.

We were once again by Kronos's side, watching him sleep.

Doesn't this make us creepy?

?' Rain whined, panting like a dog in heat.

More like... a wolf in heat... I thought to myself, forgetting that Rain and I share the same body.

'' Rain snarled, rolling her eyes at me.

Shut up. I replied.

Kronos moved in his sleep, his hair ruffling in his face. The bond hummed louder now, the temptation to be close to him grew ever more so. A sudden whimper came from my mate, as he shifted in his seat a little. Sweat formed on his forehead as he squeezed his eyes shut.

Another nightmare...

Every time I see him, he is always tormented. Even in his dreams, he can't get proper rest.

Anger swelled within me. Gaia had done so much more damage to him and he can't even sleep in peace. I hope she is happy with herself. One more whimper came from my mate. My instincts to care for him grew only stronger as I slowly reached over to brush his hair out of his face. When suddenly, his eyes open.

Within seconds, my hand that was just inches to his face was now in the air, gripped tightly by larger hands.

"K-Kronos!" I yelped, surprised.

Realizing who I was, Kronos quickly let go of me. His face was surprised, in shock even. He stepped back, causing his chair to roll away from him. Tilting his head, he looked at me, examining me as well as his surroundings. Once his eyes finished looking around the room, his eyes landed on me once more.

Massaging my now sore hand from the force of his grab, I raise a brow, frowning. "That hurt... you know? You could say sorry."

Rain replied, scowling me.

Kronos blinked at me slowly, as he quickly brought his notepad and wrote out, 'You scared me. I didn't expect someone to be in my office. I'm sorry for hurting you.'

Sighing, I shrugged. "It's okay, it was my fault. I'm sorry for creepily staring at your handsome face as you slept. I just... haven't seen you in a long time." I paused, shy. "I missed you."

Kronos's face quickly flushed crimson, reaching over to touch my face but withdrew his hand. He flinched when I grabbed his hand from inching anymore further away.

"Can I hug you?" I asked, respecting his boundaries.

He stared at me, mouth gaped before nodding his head hesitantly. Laughing, I slowly wrapped my arms around him. He stiffened but soon relaxed as he embraced me in return.

We spent that time, catching up and talking.

Well, it was more like me asking questions and me reading his notepad.

But I felt like we got closer than we were before and it was a step. Which meant everything to us.

"Kronos? Where are you?" I said, looking around in the pack house.

Kronos had written on a piece of paper to meet him near the packs living room, so I had been wondering around searching for him.

All of sudden, he stumbled out from the main hallway with a big gift box in his hands. He ended up tripping in front of me and clumsily handing the gift to me.

I laughed at his cuteness, his cheeks turning in a small shade of pink.

He was embarrassed to fall right in front of me.

Taking the gift, I open it.

It revealed some oversized hoodies and a few gift cards to my favorite stores. One of them was for Victoria Secret and Bath and Body works. I smiled at his thoughtfulness.

A few weeks ago, when we were having the picnic, he asked me what sort of things do I like. I replied with how I wanted to wear his hoodies or maybe a gift card to Victoria Secret.

He was listening to every word I said.

"Thank you, Kronos. That's very sweet."

His eyes lit up, his hand rubbing the back of his head shyly.

Placing the box down onto the sofa, I reached in to pull out one of the hoodies he lended me. Already, I could smell his scent on it. Pleased, I took a whiff and smiled in happiness. There was a note, attached to the top of the bag. Reading..

'

I smiled, bringing the note to my lips before kissing it.

"That means a lot. When did I get so lucky to have a mate like you? The moon goddess really blessed me." I said, grinning ear to ear.

Kronos, seeing this, quickly grew more shy but smirked at me. Watching his reaction, he hinted that he wanted me to try it on. I do so, slipping on the oversized fabric onto my small frame.

Kronos's face grew more red from seeing me wear his hoodie. I quickly saw him cover his crotch before nodding. He then waved at me and scurried away, excusing himself since he had to do his alpha duties.

I blinked at the door, noticing how fast he left.

Why was he covering his crotch?

Rain smirked, tail wagging.

I-...

"Luna!" I heard a pack member call me. I continued to meet the pack members and interact with them, forgetting about what I saw.

There was a distance between Kronos and I, and that was him allowing me to get close to him.

At times, he touched or held my hand, but it was never further than that. Sometimes, he would do it for a long period of time but suddenly let go.

Like he was afraid.

I sighed, my feelings were growing for him each and everyday.

There were the little things he did that I noticed for what he did for me and his pack members. He was too generous for his own good, and very innocent.

As I wondered, I started having doubts if we would ever be the average alpha and Luna couple.

What if he never speaks again?

What if we never get to mate or mark one another?

Would that be the fall for our bond-

Rain barked.

I nodded, rubbing my temples, 'Sorry Rain, I'm just anxious lately. I don't know what to do with Kronos, but I do know I have feelings for him.'

She showed her canines,

I smiled finally, thankful to have my wolf by my side. I honestly don't know what I would do without her. Normally I have my head on my shoulders, but I can't be calm and rational all the time. Although we're werewolves, we are very human as well.

In my thoughts, I didn't notice Laura and Nick approaching me.

Turning around, I'm faced with the two guards who helped assist me with Gaia a few days prior. "Oh, how are you guys? I haven't seen you around lately."

Nick bowed respectfully, "We've been training for the past few days."

"Yep! We've also been busy fucking too." Laura chirped behind him, sticking her head out.

My jaw dropped, eyes widening.

'See, at least she gets it. Where's my busy schedule of doing the dirty?' Rain huffed, upset with me. Before I get the chance to reply, she suddenly spoke lowly,

I excuse myself from the pack members to search for Kronos, 'What is it Rain?'

She only responded, disregarding my alarming question.

I reached the top of the stairs and came face to face to a room. My heart pounding, not knowing what Rain sensed.

Voices, one that I identified as a female, and she seemed to be talking to someone. That person didn't respond. I automatically opened the door, and my heart stopped for what felt it an eternity.

Kronos was holding Macy closely in an embrace as she cried.
