《My Muted Alpha | ✔️》CHAPTER EIGHT

Rhea's POV:

I chuckled to myself, my hands brushing through Kronos's hair as he slept soundly. His snored quietly as slept next to me.

Sparks flew once more and our bond hummed in the sunlight. I had been watching over him the entire evening since he seemed to have some sort of PTSD from the past.

I was told he had a lot of night terrors and would sometimes convulse violently in bed. It was difficult to believe at first, but when morning struck and I had got breakfast for him, I believed it. He had jolted up from his dreams and was afraid. You could smell the fear from his room a mile away.

My heart throbbed in pain imagining what happened.

We shared a sweet moment today and it made me feel happy to know he was letting me in little by little. Enjoying the birds tweeting outside, I started to doze off when I smelled someone outside his door.

"Alpha, are you in here?" A deep voice sounded behind the door.

Immediately, my wolf was on alert. Our mate was asleep, defenseless and as his Luna, we had to protect him.

Rain growled.

I nodded, "Alpha Kronos is resting at the moment. He's on his break so I'll be in charge for now. Is something the matter?"

"Yes, Alpha's mother, Gaia, is acting up and we can only do so much to restrain her. She's causing a huge ruckus."

Seriously? This bitch again?

I groaned in annoyance, rubbing my temple. Kronos stirred beside me, curled up to my side. The anger that was welled up in me dissipated.

... Gosh, he's just the cutest.

Clearly my throat, I said sternly, "I see. Alright then, I'll be right out. Give me a few minutes."

"Yes Luna." The guard said, standing by the door.

Hard to believe I'm already acknowledged as the Luna of this pack.

Sighing, I removed myself from Kronos's hold and scooted myself off his bed. I didn't want to wake up my mate as it looked like he had worked everyday without stopping. He was doing both roles as an Alpha without a Luna by his side.

Before I could get off the bed fully, I felt Kronos grab my arm softly. I turned back towards him, sitting at the edge of the bed. He seemed half asleep but looked sad that I was leaving his side.

Tilting his head, he mouthed, 'Where are you going?'

I believe that's what he said since I can't hear him. "I'm going to deal with your mother. She's causing a scene in the dungeon."

Kronos blinked, frowning.

"I'll be okay. She's easy to deal with. Just rest and once you're washed up, you can come down to get me." I said in a reassuring tone to him.

He nodded, seeming satisfied with my answer before dozing off again.

When he's asleep like that, it's so hard to leave him.

Rain suggested, wiggling her ass in the air.

'Are you dumb?' I replied harshly back.

She barked, pouting before cutting the link.

Jesus, can I please have some holy water for my wolf?

Shaking my head, I focused on the matter at hand. Glancing one last time at Kronos's sleeping form, I quickly opened the door and slipped out.

"Okay, what's your name?" I asked politely as we started to make our way to the dungeon.

The guard who I didn't know, grinned. "My name is Nick. It's nice to be of service to you, Luna."

Nodding in acknowledgment, we made some small talk before finally coming across another guard who was female and Gaia, who was in her wolf form.

Gaia, who was busy clawing at the bars quickly noticed me. Her wolf snarled once her eyes laid on me, angry.

Nick quickly assessed the situation and told the female guard, who I found out to be named Laura, to standby as he stood by the entrance in case Gaia tried to escape.

I stared at Gaia for a few minutes, causing me to cock a brow, "Did you really want me to make you unconscious again? We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Of course I prefer the hard way if you haven't noticed."

My threat seemed to have work. Her wolf transformed back into her human form, scared. Gaia sat there bare as she glared at me.

"What do you want?" She seethed.

"For you to shut up." I replied blankly.

She seemed appalled by my answer, getting upset. "So, this is my son's mate, huh? I expected as much. Plain and disgusting. You two are a good match in hell." She spat, attempting to spit in my face.

I dodged her spit, keeping cool. "Yeah, I was surprised too. I thought you'd be less bitchy and have some dignity. I'm surprised that you have the IQ of a goldfish as well. Unfortunately, I was sadly mistaken. But hey, we have our moments."

Gaia sat there once more in silence, staring at me. Her hatred for me rolled out in waves.

"Just watch, I'll kill that useless son of mine. He's better off dead."

Now that... was the last straw. Smiling sweetly, I stared at the female guard, Laura. "Can you open the gate for me, please?"

She stumbled with the keys but eventually wrenched it open. Not a second later, I jumped on Kronos's Mother and punched the living shit out of her... again.

Fear and shock formed on her face. Her screams of pain echoed in the dungeon as she demanded me to let go of her.

I grabbed her hair as a sob escaped out of her mouth from the force of the pull, "Not until you learn your lesson and feel how it was like to inflict pain on your own son. No one hurts my man." I hissed, slamming her head into the concrete floor.

Sending a glance to my right, I can see the female guard recording the whole thing on Snapchat. Her eyes widened in fascination as she cheered me on with, "GO LUNA, GO! Hashtag, BEST LUNA EVER!"

Nick, who was by the door guarding, facepalmed at the scene in front of him.

Honestly, I don't blame him.

As I continued to bash Gaia and took my frustrations out on her, a scent I know so well filled the room.

"Kronos..." I whispered.

His form shook when his eyes landed upon his mother. I wasn't sure if he was impressed or shocked to know that his mate was on top of his mom.

Laura quickly shoved her phone into her pockets, now high alert just in case Gaia decided to make anymore sudden moves and Nick bowed, saying, "Alpha."

Kronos walked over to me, eyes on me the entire time before extended his arm into the cell, showing me the notepad that read, 'I came down here to get you. I wanted to do something together.'

My heart clenched more, the hatred I felt for Gaia being put away. I was pleased to see him not afraid of his mom. He was making his efforts but I could see a slight twitch of fear in him.

He was putting the effort in to recover, one step at a time.

Kronos sent a glance to his mother, turning the page and writing faster, 'Just leave her be. I didn't kill her because I wanted her to live in guilt. A wolf without a mate or a nearly dead mate ends up either insane or they end up committing suicide. She went insane and lost all her motherly instincts for me, so she blamed the easiest target. Me.'

I swallowed the lump in my throat when Kronos put his notepad away, his muscles buldging underneath his shirt.

It made my mouth run dry.

Rain drooled, .

I ignored her, Kronos reaching out for me and hesitantly taking my arm to drag me back upstairs. I tossed the pathetic hoe-bag onto the floor when he did so. The sparks from the touch tingled, my body flushing with warmth.

Gaia's cries of hatred followed us, but we paid no mind. A click of the cell being locked once more echoed as we closed the dungeon.

He led me out of the pack house and deeper into the woods, the one that were still in our pack boundaries.

I followed him until we came to a halt, when he released me.

A blanket laid out in a big area, the woods surrounding us with the sun shining. The wind blew softly, leaves rustling.

Confused, I asked, "What are we doing here?"

He nervously shifts around, pulling out his notepad and writing, 'I prepared us a picnic.'

The food he prepared seemed delicious. A bouquet of flowers laid beside a big teddy bear who was holding some chocolate.

I smiled, "They're beautiful..." Picking up the teddy bear, I gave it a squeeze and took a whiff. It smelled just like Kronos and it made me happy.

He eventually grinned at me, and it caused my heart to flutter. I could see a slight blush forming on his face since he was nervous for my reaction.

I'd do anything to keep that smile on him.

He whipped out his notepad and wrote, 'We can get to know each other better like this. Especially through what we say.'

He timidly linked hands with me as we got to know each other through the picnic he prepared.

And honestly, 10 points for cooking... not all guys can cook for their mates.
