《My Journey as the Fox head clan》3. New Light

About 7 days time has passed. Yilas was starting to get used to the leisurely routine around this place.
Every day she was woken up and fed by the gentle Viosus. She was so used to his presence that she could tell him apart from the sound of his walk and his body smell. It was quite a strong yet pleasant scent of musky woods blended in with some fresh grass.
Viosus didn't make Yilas drink any medicine but she suspected the people of this world have not reached that level of advancement yet based on what Viosus said about hunting and clans. The only thing she was curious about was the ointment applied to her eyes area, Viosus didn’t know what it was made of either but he said he would ask the doctor once he comes to visit again.
Besides being in bed and resting all day, Yilas activities were limited to being visited by others and being carried to the toilet by Viosus. Still, Viosus promised to let her walk around once the blinder comes off.
Lyth was the one who visited Yilas the most, she dropped in at least 3-4 times a day. Sometimes to see if Yilas was needing anything, or brought her some small fruits she found in the mountain. Other times she would just sit at the corner of Yilas’s bed and chat with her about her day.
From the way she talked and acted Yilas think Lyth was about 13 years old. She was quite thin and her skin was cool to the touch. Yilas didn’t think she even has a strand of hair on her body and she usually comes to me in a half-snake form causing Yilas to notice Lyth’s sliding noise when she moves (her lower half turns into a big tail).
Yilas was never afraid of insects or reptiles, she frequently encountered such small animals in the hospital garden from time to time so she didn't mind Lyth’s tail.
Lyth was picked up about 2 years before the Master passed away. She was found in a paddle field on one of his journeys and they found her tongue was cut off quite a bit so it was quite hard for her to navigate directions.
Lyth said she never remembered what happened but she was happy to be saved by the Master and lived happily here ever since.
Her main job in the house was just to keep the edible plants for the Master and Yilas. Besides that she usually comes to the mountain to pick fruits and hunts little mice for herself. She also said Yilas was the one that taught her energy transformation and she proudly said Yilas told her that she was my brightest student.
Except for Viosus, Lyth was the only one she told that she couldn't remember the past. She understood it immediately and wouldn't insist on asking Yilas about details. She just kindly accepted her and treated her like she was before.
Having Lyth around really makes Yilas’s day less boring, hearing her chime-like bells laugh and let Lyth comb her hair with some tree branches really made she feel like Lyth was her a real little sister.
It was always just her and her mom in Yilas’s past life, she remembered clearly.
Yilas never knew who her father was. She had never seen him show up around her or mom. Whenever being asked, her mom just jokingly said that Yilas was picked up on her front porch. Yilas’s aunt told her a different story though.
Aunty said her mom had Yilas when she was very young, in her senior year of high school, and her dad, who was her boyfriend at the time, won't accept her mom and the baby so Yilas’s mom swore to never see him again.

After being disowned by her parents, Yilas’s mom came to stay with her aunt’s family until she gave birth and save up enough money to get her own place. When we moved out Yilas was only 3 years old.
Yilas knew her mom went through a lot in her life. And she always thought she was such a useless child that couldn't even bring her a bit of joy. Thinking of never seeing her again made Yilas’s heart ached so much, like someone squeezing her heart and sucking out all the air in her lung at the same time.
Yilas also realized that she cannot cry anymore, not because she was afraid to wet the wound. Nothing came out of her eyes even when she wanted to cry and let her feelings out.
“The tear ducts might have been ruined, Milady” Viosus’s words came rushing to Yilas’s mind.
Viosus was indeed a reliable man. Not only did he take care of her all by himself, he still had time to do chores, cook, and assign tasks for the rest.
But he was so polite, too polite to Yilas. Always Milady this, Milady that. Yilas just wanted to get to know him better and not made him act so uptight all the time.
“Young master!” Berthort came running, from the sound of the ground shake when he moved Yilas already knew he was not a dainty and small gentleman.
“Viosus brought the doctor back!”
Ahh.. quite good news indeed. Yilas was counting hours ever since Viosus left the house early this morning for the doctor.
Yilas wondered if it is because she couldn’t see, but time seems a little longer these days.
“Milady!” Yilas heard Viosus’s upbeat voice from afar. She sat up straight immediately and turned herself towards the sound.
“Doctor, if you could.” Viosus politely asked the mysterious doctor.
“Haha..” This male doctor let out a big laugh, his voice was quite deep and warmth, he sounded like middle-aged uncle “of course, let sit the young Master up straight and prepare some warm water and cotton flowers.”
“I will get some right now” Viosus quickly takes the order from the doctor.
“No let me do it!” Big Berth was still with them and suddenly jumped in to help “Big brother should stay with the Master since it might be painful to bear on her own.”
Yilas was just about to open her mouth to say she can take it, then she heard Berth’s ground-shaking run.
The doctor and Viosus moved closer to the bed. Viosus held Yilas’s hand and said.
“Milady, if everything goes well today, the doctor told me we could take off the blinder today.”
He sounded really excited.
Yilas too was excited herself. These binders have been too uncomfortable to sleep in, moreover, it was getting really itchy around the wound that she wished she could just rip them off to scratch her eyes. But of course Viosus would never even let her get the chance.
“That is great, is it a true doctor?” Yilas couldn’t help but show some enthusiasm.
“Of course, of course..” This doctor seemed very mild-mannered. “if everything this big fox here has been telling me is correct then it would be possible.”
Viosus hands squeezed hers even harder hearing doctor’s confirmation.
Yilas silently let out a relieved sigh. Maybe she would be able to see again.
“Doctor?” Yilas asked “How lightly am I going to be able to see again?”
“Hmmm..” the doctor hums just for a second “let's take the blinder down first!”

Right, right. Things like this can’t be rushed. Yilas out of all people should know it too well.
“May I?” Yilas could feel the doctor’s hand move closer to her face.
Yilas gently nodded her head in agreement.
While the doctor untied the knots, he explained.
“When I am done taking these off, you need to keep your eyes shut until I tell you to do otherwise. We can’t risk having the wound opened.”
The blinder finally came off. Yilas didn’t try to move her eyes at all, she didn’t think she could even if she tried.
“So… what do you think doctor?” It was too quiet, Yilas felt anxious, she couldn’t even hear Viosus breathing anymore, maybe he was holding his breath waiting for the doctor’s words. Somebody tells her anything, please!
“Welp..” the doctor took a deep breather in “it's almost as good as new… haha.. I expect no less from the infamous female head of this clan.”
Infamous? He was referring to Yilas right? She unintentionally frowned, making two lines appear in between her brows.
“Now now.. don’t move your eye’s muscle so harshly young lady. You haven’t opened your eyes yet so we are still unsure about the progress yet.”
“Milady..” Viosus’s concerned voice raised next to me. He continued “Doctor! Please refrain from unnecessary comments.”
“Haha… you are right.. right..” The doctor sounds like he was ashamed of his own behavior.
Berthort’s footstep was approaching, Yilas could hear that this time he moved slower and lighter on his feet. He placed the water in a big wood container down on the ground making a thud noise.
“Here are all the things you need, doctor!”
“That’s right, we can start cleaning the eyes so the young Master can open her eyes easily.”
After a long time of lightly streaming my eyes with the warm water’s steam. The doctor gently touched Yilas’s eyes and with both of his hands, trying to separate 2 lids.
“Now try open both of your eyes young lady.”
Yilas took a deep breath and focused on her eyes to get them to open. They felt like they weighed a thousand pounds and it was extremely uncomfortable. It felt like somebody was rubbing soap in her eyes as soon as they were opened.
See as Yilas was struggling, Viosus comforted me.
“No need to rush things, Milady.”
Yilas was able to open them little by little, and once it was open she could see light, and a lot of blurry colors. Finally she was able to tell it was still daylight outside. Yilas was extremely relieved.
“I can see light a bit” Yilas stated so excitedly “but it is extremely fuzzy”
“Good good.. close your eyes one more time for a few moments and open it again when you are ready.”
Yilas listened to the doctor and closed her eyes again.
Once Yilas opened her eyes again, she could see a brown goat head with a human-shaped body in front of her very closely. It was quite astonishing so she exclaimed.
“Ahhh.!! A goat?” That goat started laughing.
“Haha.. that’s good.. you can see me clear enough.”
THE GOAT HEAD TALKED HUMAN LANGUAGE!
But she recognized that voice, it was the doctor.
Yilas quickly covered her own mouth before she could say anything else weird to him.
But 2 arms quickly grabbed her shoulders and turned them towards that person.
“Milady.. you can see again??!”
Towering over Yilas was a mountain of a man. His reddish-orange locks shine against the sunlight were the first thing she saw. Like the color of fire, so vibrant and magnificent. His beautiful hair was decently long, enough where you can put it in a bun at the back of his nape, but not long enough to pass his shoulder.
And oh god, his shoulders were broad, muscular, and plump. His skin was a light golden color, not too light, not too dark. Like the healthy whole wheat bread.
His eyes were a piercing color of green, greener than any emeralds Yilas imagined. And the elongated tail of his eyes just made this man more breathtaking. His elegant yet strong nose and his wide mouth smiling from ears to ears really painted a wonderful picture.
This man was even more perfect than the Greece gods himself. If it wasn’t for the funny looking cat ears on his head, she would have sworn he was a statue in a museum.
Yilas was at a loss for words to see this god-like beauty and a goat first time she opened her eyes to. What a bizarre circumstance! But Yilas quickly grasped the situation as Viosus was waiting for her to say something.
“Viosus..??” She barely let those names out of her teeth and still, he was able to hear it.
“It’s me, Milady, it is me” he smiled even brighter. His perfect 125-degree jawline moved tightly as he clenched his teeth together, squinting his eyes to make a smile. What a big, warm smile he has!
“That’s good news. But first let's do some tests to confirm your condition.” Yilas turned her head to face the goat doctor and nod assertively.
After an array of tests, the goat doctor said Yilas’s right eye has completely healed, the lid was also healed too so there was nothing to worry about.
However her left eye, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be so lucky. The lid part was healed and she could still move it like normal but the iris turned white because of the thick scar tissue. So the chance of the eye could function again was next to zero.
One eye was still better than no eyes right? Yilas told herself, at least she had some sight, her fate was kind enough just for that alone.
“Don’t worry about the scar, young lady.” The doctor said in a joking tone “you look quite fierce with it! No boars will dare come again… haha.”
This doctor definitely didn’t know when to stop talking.
Yilas slightly laughed it off while Viosus and Berth didn’t take it so easily. She couldn’t blame them though, they must still feel angry and uneasy about the boar’s clan.
She didn’t notice Berthort at first because she couldn’t focus on anything but Viosus bright orange’s locks and the Goat doctor’s instruction. However, even if normal people were glancing through, he won’t be missed so easily.
Standing at over 2 meters tall, Berth couldn’t even hide his height when sitting down. He had a medium, short brown hair, spiking all over every direction. His big round eyes were a deep chocolate brown, and so were his pointy ears. He had cute chubby cheeks and dimples making his face quite irrelevant to his body.
He must weigh over 100kg by the way he was built. He was not chubby, you couldn’t pinpoint the fat on his body anywhere but he was very dense in muscle mass. Especially in the back and legs area.
There was a huge scar going around Berth’s neck in a circle like somebody had an iron heated rope and burned his neck with it. It was something quite scary to look at.
“If there is any wrong with the wound again, you can send out the Little Crow to notice me next time. Having Viosus escorts me is not necessary... haha... the people at my clan feel uneasy whenever he shows up.”
Yilas guessed the fact that a carnivore animal showing up at their door first thing in the morning was indeed worrisome.
“Let me take you back doctor!” Berthort finally stood up, towering over everyone in the room. He could easily touch the ceiling if he reached half of his arm up.
“No.. no..!! You are even scarier than Viosus on the first glance.” Goat doctor said and waved his hand denying the offer.
“I will do it then, doctor.” Said Viosus now also standing facing toward him.
“No..no.. you should stay and take care of your young Master. Have the Little Crow watch be from above, that is good enough.”
After saying our thanks, Viosus promised to bring them some herbs and fruits to show our appreciation.
Berthort walked the goat doctor out leaving only Yilas and Viosus behind.
It’s not like this was the first time we stayed alone in the room together.
But this was the first time she acknowledged the beauty of the person who had been by her side all these days.
Yilas couldn’t help but feel nervous and not even dared to look at Viosus in the eyes.
“Milady..” Viosus sat down next to the bed, gently held Yilas’s right hand, placed it in between his 2 big palms.
“I am so glad you have your eye back.” He let out a loud sigh.
This was too intimate! Yilas could feel her face turning bright red, a warm liquid was about to running from inside her forehead down to her nostril.
Oh no, even Viosus is going to hear her heart pounds like a machine overheated.
