Cold winds blew as both Zouth and Onix arrived to the new world. Onix's eyes quickly adjusted to the night scene, her low breaths were visible to the winter like cold. Muffled sounds of crowds were leaking into their ears.
They were in a very narrow alleyway. Zouth had to adjusted himself to fit in the small space. Sack lowly hissed as the wind picked up. His fur was highly sensitive to such weather, his thick coated fur held moisture deep in his roots could be freezed easily in meer minutes in his current form.
Onix tapped her still bandaged chest , sack responded and latched on tightly under her cloak.
"Aren't you cold?"
"A bit... But that doesn't..." Onix scanned around more, then small sparkling lights surrounded her. They danced around as a small warmth spread around her body. She extended her hand to one of the small lights and crushed it, glaring at Zouth.
"Don't use your disgusting elvish magic on me." She hissed stabbing him her sharp glare.
"Sorry for trying to help my Meld stay warm." He smiled lightly as the lights of warmth faded.
"Stop saying that disgusting word.” Sack let out a low whine but Onix just pet him in pity.
Onix jumped a zig zag pattern up the alleyway. Reaching the top of the building. There the bright lights of the town sparkled as the snow began to slowly powder down. People were gathered around an opening laughing and dancing happily.
The wind brushed against Onixs exposed skin, leaving light shades of purple grey behind. Onix smiled at the sight in front of her. She loved the human culture of this world that she would read on her spare time. The first world... The first realm.
"A celebration?" Zouth spoke out as he hopped beside her.
"Seems so."
Onix scanned around once again taking in everything she could of the unknown area.
Jumping from rooftop to rooftop, as a small presence of energy was felt from an empty street. She gestured to Zouth to follow as she made her way there.

"Thank you for your business, have a good night," I attempt a smile.
"You too dear, happy new year to ya." The small woman waved as the bag of baked goods I had delivered were held tightly in her other hand.
"Happy New year," I waved stepping of the porch. I stared at my watch while walking over to my bike, 15 minutes before midnight.
"I better get back before Nan gets mad. Then again it's her fault for these stupid late night deliveries." So much for sleeping on time.
The street i was on was not dangerous but a lot of stuff tends to happen. Some street lights would flicker and break every so often, people saw things move by themselves. Random screams and sudden shadows appearing from nowhere. Some people who lived around here didn't tend to leave their homes during the night. Especially now with the recent missing persons cases that's been becoming a problem within the last few months around town.
But what the people didn't know was that these events happened because of creatures that have come to haunt this area. As far as I know, they aren't visible to anyone else but me.
As I began to take a turn I took notice of a graffiti piece on an old sign for a building leasing. The graffiti was a cartoon ghost with it's eyes popped out its head. It wasn't finished and the end looked like the artist smeared the it when possibly running away.

I adjusted my glasses as I looked to the signature. EZ...
"Damn it Elliot," I whispered with a forced chuckle.
Elliot was the only friend i had during middle school. He was the green haired punk style kid. He had a stud on his tongue and large gauges. I was there when he got them, and he tried convincing me to get gauges too. But me being the awkward quiet dude in the back of class, I only got studs.
I remember Nan, my adoptive mom, being more than a little angry. He was always getting us into trouble with her, and those were one of the best times i had. Since he was the only friend i ever made. But, up until a few weeks ago.
Elliot just.
Disappeared.
I don't want to think he got kidnap, or god forbid dead. I'm desperately hoping he's just screwing with me, but nothing.
And without him... Those things haven't stopped following me.
I don't know what to call them. But for some reason I can see them. These creatures. Elliot didn't keep them away per say, but he distracted me to the point I started naturally ignoring them. I'm trying to ignore it now, but this time it's gotten a lot worse in the last year. A Lot of them have begun to travel in herds.
While making this delivery, I noticed one it looked like a horse, bit felt off. Not just the fact a weird horse appeared in the middle of the street. It has been following me for a while now. And the other ones aren't around.
Now it's gotten to the point where its only a few feet away from me.
Calmly I slowly got on my bike. The snow started to crunch as the horse got closer.
I felt my heart beating quickly. As my foot was on the pedal. Then, I felt breathing on my back.
I blasted out of there! And as soon as i did the horse started galloping to me. Letting out an ungodly roar. I made a harsh turn on an iced over corner. Flipping to the side scraping on the snow surfaced sidewalk.
"Damn it" my legs felt numb, and my right leg was starting to bleed. Stumbling to stand, the horse was making a full dash towards me.
"Well Fuck," I forced a chuckle. My legs are trembling, I can barely stand.
As it got closer roaring at me. I closed my eyes," Sorry Nan,"
"Don't just sit there!"
I felt someone pull me close to them. When I opened my eyes, a girls back was faced forward with an oversized axe in her left hand. And a large mass of fur on four legs in front of the horse.
"An Each-uisge?" She spoke in confusion. " That shouldn't be here."
Wait she...
"You see it too?!"
Spoiler: Spoiler
From Wikipedia
The each-uisge (Scottish Gaelic: [ɛxˈɯʃkʲə], literally "water horse") is a water spirit in Scottish folklore, known as the each-uisce(anglicized as aughisky or ech-ushkya) in Ireland and cabyll-ushtey on the Isle of Man. It usually takes the form of a horse, and is similar to the kelpie but far more vicious. They also like women.
Onix pov
"You can see it too?" The boy shouted.
"Kid you don't have to shout, I'm right here." I placed my cloak on him, and placed him gingerly against a wall.
" Just stay quiet for now." I tried to say in a soft tone so he would calm down.
I couldn't see his face, the glasses on his face where to fogged up for me to see his eyes. And his hat and thick scarf made it difficult to see any distinctive features.

I turned my back to him as the wind picked up brushing over my bare arms and shoulders. I raised my axe with light glowing green runic symbols." This won't take to long."
Sack was in his second form, mount. He was about the same size as a bear . His yellow eye almost bulged out as he growled at the Each-uisge.
"Sack tag out," I patted him as I walked calmly to the monster.
The Each-uisge stopped its movement, scanning me up and down. I glare at it then it began to shift it's form.
"Onix get away from it!" Zouth called out. As he pulled out his rapier.
It took me a solid second to process what he ment. Then i remembered Each-uisge are...
Perverts...
It formed into a relatively, what most women refer to as, handsome man. Butt naked I might add.
" The literal home," I frowned.
The damn thing had the nerve to even wink at me.
" You can just, PISS OFF!" I kicked him directly in the almost perfect sculpted abs, right square into a building.
"Home! It's worse than you!" I glared at Zouth." Screw that guy, you kill it! Having touched that with my foot was beyond disgusting!" I huffed passed Zouth scraping my boot in the snow.
" Okay, i don't appreciate things trying to make a move on you meld," Zouth did a stupid grin. Then i threw my axe right next to the Each-uisge's head, almost barely touching Zouth as it made contact.
"It'll be your head of you continue," I spat at the ground. Sack morphed back to his small size and latched onto my back. He snuggled close to my exposed back for what warmth i could provide.
My attention forced to the kid. He looked amazed, surprised? It was hard to pinpoint what exactly he was expressing.
"W-what are you?" He stiffened as I approached him.
"Can you stand, kid?"
" No I think I- Wait! What are you?!" He tried to put space between the two of us. But collided with the wall. "How did you do that? And how can you see it?"
I let out a light giggle.
"You ask a lot of questions. Be thankful I stop that thing from catching you, before it ripped you apart."
"What was that?"
"It doesn't matter," Zouth marched up beside me." It's dead." He handed me my axe.
I snatched it from him."Heal him."
"No." He glared at the poor confused boy.
"And why not?"
"You can't tell me you don't feel that." Gesturing to the unusual energy." We shouldn't get more involved."
" Funny hearing that from you."Zouth was about to comment but shut his mouth, how it should be.
I bent down slowly pulling up his pants leg. His leg seemed fairly swollen. I barely grazed it when he flinched.
"Looks pretty bad," I tapped on sack and a red vile appeared in my hand.I Moved up his pants leg more so i could see the entire wound, caused the boy to grown. "This is medicine. I'm going to apply it."
He stayed quiet. Something about this kid didn't feel right, no human on this side could have this kind of feeling to then. Before I applied did I took off his glasses. "Wha! Give those back!
"!" My body froze as he squinted towards me.
I placed the glasses down in the snow spilling the red liquid all over the swelling area.
"What happened exactly, boy?" My eyes were tranced on his soul. How is this child...
"..."
"She asked you a question human." Zouth frowned down at him.
"Don't be rude,"I looked back at the boys wound healing.
"... I was chased," he felt around the snow. " that thing was following me around. I tried to ignore it so it would leave me alone. So when it started noticing I could see it it charged at me."
"Weird." I stated.
"The fact that and Each-uisge was able to make it all the way here?" Zouth turned to me.
"No the fact that a humans soul is this broken and that he's still alive." I bit my thumb letting pinkish purple blood ooze out in tiny droplets. Pressing it on the side of his
"Damn it that hurt!" He yelled at me. Zouth turned to me with a very shocked face.
"Onix you didn't just-"
"Listen to me closely. Boy. Because I won't be repeating myself."
His light brown khaki colored eyes still squinted trying to make out my shape.
"If you talk about what happened today. That mark till spread to the rest of your body and dissolve you flesh. Your muscle will peel off your bones, and your organs will shrivel up and become like charcoal."He slowly put on his glasses not looking up at me with his lovely colored eyes, almost not taking what i had to say to heart.
"In short, you'll die." I turned away feeling my chest clench is pain." I hope you don't do anything stupid to endanger yourself. But if you want i could kill you right now and save you the pain" i felt my eye turn a different color as i glared down at the child.
"...I understand..."
"Good." Sack sucked back my weapon, as i reclaimed my cloak. "Zouth lets go."
"Wha..I ... Sigh...Yes" he stood besides me as i grabbed his arm.
"SHADOW PASSAGE."
3RD pov
Like that onix and zouth disappeared from the young man's sight in an instant.
As they did the bell rang. Muffled cheers could be heard, echoing in the empty street.
The boy sighed,"Happy New years Alex." As he removed his hat letting his messy red brown hair settled down. To hide the burn mark that that fuzzy humanoid girl left him.
Onix and Zouth were now on top of a building. The wind blew a bit harsher as Zouth grabbed her arm.
"You overstep your authority Onix." He raised his voice which was rare of him to do at the woman he claimed as a meld." Not only that but you lie about the mark you left on him."
"And what, pray tell, would you have me do." She raised her voice at him ripping her arm from his grip.
"Alter his memory comes to mind."
"And what of the side effects of that? Lying would keep the boy's mouth shut." She hissed
"So you intend to watch over a human boy you claimed as territory?" He yelled.
"I did that for our missions sake. Also I didn't just do that." She attempted to calm herself as her chest kept thumping at a fast pace.
“ Enlighten me,” He crossed his arms as if he were reprimanding a child.” Why you did that, then?”
"Im may look like a child but i'm at least 10 years your senior." her eyes shifted red as she let a small forced laugh out to attempt to seem in control. She knelt on the roof covering her mouth, as an all too familiar feeling washed over her.” that boy's soul is something that can cause... problems..”
“Onix are you..” he reached out to her but she snarled at the tall high elf. As that feeling began to be clearly visible to Zouth. That child's soul had made Onix hungry. And that genuinely scared him, although it wasn't anything inherently new to demons, it was new for Onix.
“Don't!" She growled as Sack began to shake as Onix's malice. When she took notice of that her eyes shifted back to her calm lavender color. Gently stroking her shaken familiar. Zouth began to grab a vile of small candies and was beginning to feed her one.
“Their prototypes, but it should help,”
“...thank you,” she whispered as Zouth popped it in her mouth.
"...You said that the soul was broken. What does that mean exactly?" He asked in a low voice. Watching Onixs face begin to calm down, with hints of joy sparked on his own.
"Nothing, at least nothing that we'll need to worry about. I sealed of the presence of his soul so it should be fine," she said in a low tone.
"That will be the location we will be staying and making a temporal base for my team." She pointed at a two story rickety house. The building seemed old, and in terrible conditions. Next to a shop with a strong smell of food.
"It's in walking distance to two possible locations my team and I will investigate in three days time. Till then we will train and research on how to better disguise ourselves to live in this world."
"Care to share where?"
"Its that large building to the north. At the end of the street were just at. We're going to look at the building."
"Understood."
As the made there way their the Allex had just arrived to the shop next to the old house. He looked at the old building," Wonder if it's going to torn down?"
He shrugged off the thought and entered going straight to bed. Trying to get some sleep knowing that not only he was, to his knowledge, practically cursed but also that in three days school would start up again for the new semester. " my luck is just perfect..."
"St. Hathaway?" Onix read allowed.
"A human school?"
"Seems like it. This has got the same energy levels that most demons crave. I can practically smell the dread and negativity this place lets out."

Kellan Klein is an ordinary college student with an average, if traumatic and painful past. Everyone grows up grappling with depression and anxiety that seem to be genetic in a house with parents that, while loving, fight all the time and have weird ideas about what kids should and shouldn't do, right? Everyone deals with bullying, racism, judgement on their romantic inclinations and their family's economic status and just general shittiness, right? All of Kellan's friends sure did, and for all of them, entertaiment media were a welcome escape from their painful, dreary lives. After all, who wouldn't want to sail the seas with Monkey D. Luffy and the Strawhats, or help Meng Hao con increasingly powerful and influential people, or join Cecil Harvey and his friends on their weird journey to save the world, or make friends with Peter Parker while pretending to not know he was everyone's favorite wall-crawling superhero? Kellan certainly wanted to, and while he pursued college to seek out a career he saw himself enjoying, something felt inexplicably empty about his life. So when a decidely sinister force kidnaps him and the prettiest man he's ever seen saves his life and offers him his wildest dreams, Kellan becomes the shopkeeper of a mysterious, dimension hopping shop, complete with a system that helps him acquire items. abilities, materials, and other cool shit to stock it with, as well as some other neat perks. Will Kellan become a boring overpowered MC, like the kind from web fiction that he reads to sate his boredom? Will he keep his generally kind, sweet nature despite the shit he's gone through and will go through, or will he inexplicably become a scary, violent, irrational arrogant douchebag? Will he use his newfound abilities to explore the multiverse and improve the lives of himself and others, or will he become his own antithesis, a purely mercantile jerk obsessed with money and profit, with no concern for anything that doesn't help or hurt his business? Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute. The art, along with more of Nicholas's pieces, can be found at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/51bXz
