Lionel was wounded in every single part of his body completely soaked with the blood of drakes and his own blood. He heard the commander in chief order a retreat. Confused but still full of relief he retreated. He could see many of the members of the army giving him a look that he could not describe, one that no had ever shown him respect, probably because he had survived a war without no formal training and only his basic magical techniques he had been taught at the Common academy. Looking up at the sky he could see the City Lord constructing some type of barrier between the commander in chief and us
"Retreat further if you wish to keep your lives," said a booming voice. Locating the direction of the sound he could see it was the purple haired colonel pariach
I did not understand why we had to retreat further. However, the answer came to me soon as the scene of pure horror was subjected in front of us. On the other side of the barrier, the city lord constructed the only living beings was the drakes and the Commander in chief. Even though we were supposedly safe from the destruction from the other side of the barrier I could see the sky was blanketed in thick, red clouds. The ground started shaking as veins split along the landscape; being forced apart by huge spines of Earth shooting up from below. It took a moment for Lionel to catch his breath He looked around him and saw that the thousands of army soldiers alongside me did not seem to be fazed by this at all. This was how strong the commander in chief. Capable of destroying the world itself.

On the other side of the barrier, the fiery red-haired Erasmus was grinning widely as he heard the screams of anguish from these drakes. They were subject to many torments even before their deaths with some drakes encompassed by hell-fire and others hit by millions of golden lightning in a matter of seconds. Soon the chaos subsided and what appeared was a wasteland. It would be hard to regrow agriculture her, the drakes were dead, and It was time to go back.
"Pariach make sure to send a few Land Healers to fix this wasteland."
"Roger that commander" Pariach was quick to reply in her passionate sounding voice.
Land Healers were people who specifically brought barren lands back to life. They were one of the 3 main branches of the profession Healer. Known for their ability to give plants special powers they could also boost the lifespans of trees. Something Elves loved to use their Land Healers for. As the Auguste Clan was Situated in the mountainous region of the Endless mountains they had many Land Healers.
The Golden Horde marched back to Reinhardt. They were not full of energy as they were thoroughly exhausted however they could hold back their fatigue as they were all at least Journeymen in there profession (Except the new recruits who were already half dead).
The ranking system in the continent of Iris was something that was founded by the Ancient Association.all professions followed the same ranking system, For example, the ranking system for mages went like went like this in the Auguste Clan and the Imperium Of Yuramia.
Sparks are those who have undergone only basic training. They are the juniors of the academies, essentially. Once they enter the later stages of their magical training, they become Novices. (Lionel and the new recruits is at this point) If they show potential, Novices are sent to a Master for further training and become Apprentices. Alternatively, they may join the army to become Military Ardors, where they start using military ranks. At the end of their training, Apprentices become official mages, First Journeymen, also known as Adepts. After proving their worth, Adepts become Master Mages. The most powerful mages become Grandmaster Mages, but to reach this rank, one must achieve many and great things. Of course, there were ranks higher than this, but they were no longer in the realm of mortals.

(AN: consider the two as a Master's Degree and a PhD respectively).
On top of this ranking system, mages also receive titles. Competent masters, the most powerful of their time, earn the title of Arch-Mage. They mostly make up a council of mages that handle the Auguste clans problems. An Arch-Mage with the rank of Grandmaster becomes a Grand Arch-Mage.
The single most powerful mage at a point in time has the title of Magus Maximus.
Also, the clan head will always choose one mage adviser who becomes the Grand War Elder, whom he trusts the most.
Erasmus got out of his thoughts and realised he had already reached the capital however his face soon turned pale with anger as he saw another person standing at the tall gates of the Capital.

Gateway
An archaeologist by the name of Søren Quinn wakes up elsewhere after boarding a plane for Iceland. Now he has to come to terms with a significant loss of recent memory and his apparent death and rebirth, provided he can survive the rigors of the Tutorial on Gateway Station and whatever waits for him after the Tutorial. Updates. When I can... sorry. Author's Note. Gateway is a portal/isekai style GameLit novel, but it has two main lead characters and will eventually have a small cast of minor lead characters to support them. There will be small elements of base building / kingdom management added as well over time, but they will not be the focus. Gateway really is a slow burn that takes some time to get going unfortunately, but I hope you find it's worth the wait. Thank you! p.s. Book One is finally done (only needed one more chapter unfortunately...) but I'm off hiatus now and will be starting on Book Two right away!

Author's disclosure: My purpose in this novel is to explore trading and adventure in a magic world. I'll try to put some humor and good fights in the novel to make it more fun. This is a spin-off novel of AK – The Alchemy Kingdom. You don't have to read the other novel to understand or follow this one. It might offer some additional information and entertainment, tough. You can also check my other spin-off novel, Harbinger of Death, which will be more action-focused and a little grimdark. Even if you are not a fan of the genre, give it a chance. I'm adding some soft romance in the hopes to make it unique and interesting. I'm trying to improve my writing skills, so your comments and reviews are welcome. New chapters three times a week.
