《The demon of the past》Chapter 3: a friend shrouded in darkness.

Haze headed north at lightning fast speed since he wanted to hurry and get back to Nora. As he neared the den of the Razoreels he noticed a dark shadow oozing black deathly miasma up in the sky. The creature emitting the dark miasma was a Deathvold a flying beast with wings the size of skyscrapers. At this point Haze is around a 5 days walk from Vale.
As the giant beast descended from the sky to examine the lone demon it let out a laugh.
“Haze! How good to see you again old friend!” The giant beast said as her words echoed through the now deathly quiet plain that used to be a forest.
“Ah Deasi how wonderful to see you again.” Haze said as he went closer to the giant Deathvold.
“Last time I saw you was when you left to find a purpose other than fighting. Where have you been all of these years?”
“Stuck in a tomb gathering dust. A powerful sealing Faeling trapped me in it.” Haze said with annoyance clear in his speech.
“Ha ha ha I never thought you would be sealed in a tomb by a sealing Faeling. The Faeling with the lowest life span.”
“If only I had a sealing resistant gem on me at the time then I wouldn't have been sealed.”
(I'll go into more detail about the gems later on.)
“How did you escape the tomb and when did you escape?” asked while leaning her head slightly to the left.
“A passing adventurer lifted the seal from the outside, seems like she had some sort of object that could negate the seals power.”
“Oh lucky you.” She said with faint smile.
“Would you like to accompany me once again old friend?”

“Who are you calling old? And no, I will be off on my own. I have got some litter to take care of, not like they have got much to be afraid of, but still I can't let them kill off everything near my nest.”
“Oh wow I never would have guessed you had become a mother. Well I will hope to see you later then.”
The giant beast soared off into the distance and Haze continued on until he found the large den of Razoreels. He covered himself in molten rock using a spell called Ashen death. This made him sweat a bit but was not even close to the hell flames he had once been tortured with. The ground melted away as he neared the now active den. As the Razoreels now poured out of the den they started to burn as the intense heat was too much for them. They were not boiling as the Razoreels held no liquids inside their bodies to prevent them from shocking themselves.
After Haze was sure he had burned them all he once again ran at top speeds back to Vale. Once back in Vale he sought out the guild and quickly went to check up on Nora. She was sitting quietly and eating some dry bread in a room. The room was meant for discussion amongst a person who requests aid from the guild and the representatives of the guild.
Nora beamed as she saw Haze and quickly and a bit clumsily walked up to him and hugged him.
They went to the counter and Haze turned in the mission. He had of course collected a piece of the burnt Razoreels. After Haze turned the parts in the guild analysed them using an amulet enchanted with an appraisal enchantment. There are different appraisal enchantments because if you made an enchantment too powerful it would break the item and so they have to limit them to specific genres.

The amulet used just now was beast appraisal enchanted.
And as promised Nora got 30 gold and the guild got the rest. Haze grabbed another mission and then left the building with Nora to get her sister.
…
Tada! I am back with another chapter :D. You didn't think I was going to be gone forever did you?
Anyway sorry for the awful speed of updating I am currently having some issues real life. But on the bright side summer break is going to be full of updates if I can get to it. Also I do believe I can put up 2 more chapters this weekend if I don't play too much. Otherwise I will put it out after the weekend. Also sorry for the lack of action in this fiction I am not great at writing action but there will be some exciting stuff the next 2 chapters I hope.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
