Nis
NIS HAD TO STOP NICA FROM PUNCHING THE WALL. When the video call ended, Nis heard his younger twin sister curse-- it's probably be the best not to repeat it.
"That little git!" Nica punched the wall.
"Nica, stop that!" he went to her and took her fist. It was bleeding. "Nico, get the first aid kit in the kitchen."
"On it." Nico left.
He tried to calm her down. Nico came back, he brought the kit. He applied some medicine on her bleeding fist and she didn't even wince.
"That guy's probably joking." Nico said nervously.
"He's Dr. Collusus! He never jokes! Ugh!" Nica said with gritted teeth.
"Calm down sis. Now, does any of of you even know what the Codex looks like?" Nis asked. All heads turned to Nica.
"What?"
"You work for Libero. You should know what it looks like." Niche said.
"Yes, I work for Libero. But I don't know what 'it' looks like! My only job is to kill for them. I'm an assassin! Not an assistant!" Nica half-yelled.
"Okay? Well, we have until tomorrow midnight to figure out what the Codex looks like. If we don't find it out and give it to them, mom and dad might be killed." Niche pointed out.
Nis just looked at his siblings. They had to figure out what 'it' looks like. "Okay, let's try this. Search the things we brought and find a possible Codex. And somebody lend me headphones. I need to check something on my computer and I need it for sound reference."
"I brought the headphones I found." Nica voiced out.
"Okay. Nica give it to Nis. We need to figure out where they are and find the Codex, whatever that is. Let's go."

Nis scrolled down the screen on his laptop. He borrowed Nica's phone and tracked the call of Dr. Collusus. Nica came in his room, headphones in hand. She gave it to him.
"Here."
"Thanks." he took it. He noticed Nica was gloomy. "Don't worry. We'll get through this."
"I hope. You don't know Dr. Collusus as much as I do. Also, I think I got an idea about Codex. I heard it from one of my victims."
"Which one?"
"Victor Waters." Nica signed and sat next to Nis. She opened her own laptop.
"Wait, you killed him? But didn’t he committed suicide by jumping out a window?" he questioned and looked at her.
"He didn't 'jump' out the window. I 'threw' him out the window." Nis looked at her, wide-eyed.
"Okay? Now, you were saying about you have an idea about the Codex ?"
Nis saw Nica smile. He chuckled too. Well, he was nervous. Unlike her, he had never killed anyone. He was just a mechanic, not an agent. Or worse a maniac, okay maybe a little, but just a little.
"Before, I, you know, flung him out the window, he mentioned something about the Astil Codex. I never knew, since Libero never really gives assassins like me any information other than, 'This guy's a liability. Kill him.' and the likes." Nica explained.
"Wow. Anyway, go on."
"I hacked some of Waters' files and found this." she showed him a document.
"'Project Astil Codex. Libero world domination.' The heck?"
"Yeah. Astil Codex is a mind control plan. I heard it once from Dr. Collusus before, too. I just can't believe it slipped my mind."
"So, you think they're on the move for their world domination?" Nis asked.

"Yeah. Like most of the evil organization in the movies and books." she sighed. "Cliché much? It says here that 'Astil is the mind control chip, while the Codex is the manual'?"
"What?" Nis took her laptop and checked it. "'Manual'?"
"Yeah. I think the Codex is literally a manuscript?" Nis stated.
"So it's a bound book?"
"That I don't know."
"Okay. You try figure that one out, I'll try and track that Dr. Crazy of yours." she nodded.
Nis faced his laptop. He was gonna put the headphones but there was one problem. 'Where's the cord?' he thought. He was gonna ask Nica when he saw a flash drive tip. He saw a button-like thing and pushed it forward. The flash drive tip went out.
Curious, Nis put it in his laptop. His laptop read it. And it 'was' a flash drive. He opened it and saw it.
"Codex." he muttered.
At the same time, Nica piped up. "Nis! I think I know what the Codex looks like!"
"Let me guess. A flash drive in a form of pure black headphones?"

TAG DISCLAIMER: The tags 'Portal Fantasy / isekai', 'High Fantasy', and 'Non-Human Lead' do not take place until later on in the novel. Probably mid-way through the first volume. The 'villainous lead' tag is a very loose tag. Some of the things the mc does can be considered villainous to those with a staunch moral code, however, I have not made the mc out to be overtly villainous. True Title: Advent of the Silent Storm (I came up with the original title a while ago, before I had even written a single chapter. It still kind of fits but this new title fits a lot better. I would change it but I don't know if it would screw up the recommendation algorithm.) Excerpt: My mind wanders through the soup of unconsciousness, still startlingly awake despite my physical form’s stasis. Electricity completely paralyzes the air around me and lightning flashes in a constant strobe of blinding light. The ground, thousands of feet below my being has been wiped clean of all manmade artifice and natural beauty; leveled, through absolute power. My power. Synopsis: Tetal Faelen, a very successful businessman with lofty goals, is introduced to an omniscient being through less than pleasant means. This being has an irresistible offer for Tetal with next to no downside. Tetal can’t help but wonder, “What’s the catch?” Additional Notes: Second novel I have started within the Web of Interconnected Realities. My other novel is not posted on this site so don't bother looking for it. I might post it here in the future.

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter.
