《Phantom Path》Chapter 41: The Battle of Beserkers

Finding himself in a sea of wooden parts of destroyed furniture and shattered glass, he laughs at his situation, hand on his head as the one he once sheltered under his wings, his former student, his former partner in crime stands over him with malice in his eyes, Adrian who kicks destroyed furniture from out his way.
"The hell are you laughing for?" Adrian questions, taking from his back pocket, a cuff he holds over Kalf.
"Oh, little Adrian, look at us. I remember when we went out for drinks this one time, me and you, and just like how I am, you beat the living shit out of that guy who disrespected us," Kalf laughs, swiped across the mouth with the knuckles of Adrian's fist. "You were so little, but so full of craze"
"Shut up! All of this! Do you know how many people you messed up with what you've done? Even after all you've done already, how could you do this? You even had your crap sold to children!" Adrian teaches him. "I didn't think even you would stoop this low. Damn it..."
"Don't be too disappointed, little Adrian," Kalf starts. "This is just...business, as usual"
"What?" Adrian sounds in the difficulty of Kalf who gets up with hands raised, seemingly refusing to understand that his actions had dire consequences.
"You see Adrian, the world has changed. The era of adventures and heroes are over. And I am just a pioneer of this changing world. The age of demon lords and demon kings have been long gone for a while now, yes? What else was I supposed to do in this changing world? Do you get it now, little Adrian? This world has no longer a need for adventurers, men who will sacrifice themselves to fight a great evil. So you tell me, are men like me really in the wrong here? Just because I would like to try a chance of survival?"
"Shut up, Kalf. I shouldn't have bothered asking you anything," Adrian says, holding his hand to put the cuff around it, the runes of the cuff lighting up in getting close, Adrian's eyes going more fierce to seeing Kalf's hand over his own. "What are you doing? Don't piss me off"
"Oh, little Adrian," Kalf laughs, putting his other hand on Adrian's shoulder. "You were like a close friend to me. You were like a son to me"
His words like a wind that fans his anger even more, yet Adrian shudders in sensing a greater danger from this man, as on his shoulder Kalf's hand grips stronger, the air tense, sirens of the wind growing stronger, seeing as his large hand is let go by Adrian gone stiff to the seconds as a man stuck to only his thoughts, watching as he pulls it back, with a smile like a devil's, his long long hair flailing in the breeze, roaring like a beast as he launches his cannon of a fist into Adrian's chest. Into the sky Adrian takes flight, through the rooftop and into the mansion's courtyard, swiftly dodging another attack of Kalf swooping down, joining him with a fist that tremors the earth.
"Aww, what? You weren't expecting me to put on those cuffs so easily, did ya?" Kalf grins.
"Tch! You think this is funny, you piece of shit?" Adrian dashes towards him.
The wind turned into a sphere around them, mighty does their clash of fists tremor the estate, shattering the ground below them, lightning of Adrian sparking across the field destroying what lies in their path. Barrages continued, their movements intensely fast and their strength like demigods, Kalf swiping a kick into Adrian's belly with a terrifying roar that drums into the lad's ears. But quickly Adrian recovers, lightning coursing over his body, he dashes with a grip at his torso, Kalf sending down a comet of a strike into Adrian's back, but effectively the lad dodges, getting behind him with lifting and overwhelming him into the ground, climbing onto him with a torrent of fists that cracks the pavement. Kalf quickly recovers, switching Adrian on the receiving side, the lad quickly dodging from a fist that quakes through the ground, destroying a statue in the distance, Kalf getting up with returning the service of smashing Adrian's head into the pavement and throwing him through one of the pillars of the house, bringing destruction through a whole quarter of the house.

"I can always buy a new house," Kalf says, his palm up close to Adrian's face after the knight had just recovered from being thrown.
And in quick thinking, Adrian swiftly ducks by lifting his foot into Kalf's jaw, landing his kick into his chest which Kalf grabs by swinging him into a side of the mansion he crashes into, restrained by the falling wreckage as he hears Kalf laughing in the distance.
"12 million jackals I bought this house for. All my hard work...gone to waste," Kalf sighs, shaking his head.
"None of this you got through hard work! Fuck you!" Adrian pulls from underneath the rubbles, the side of his face drenching from his bleeding head, his tattoos and piercing glistering gone dull from the red that colours them.
"Ah Adrian, where did your "hard work" get you though? Oh, I did hear, you were blessed by the king himself, joined the Knights of Vestland and probably had it get to your head, thinking you come at me and stop me from rising to the top when I was the one who picked you up when you had no purpose??!! You were to be a waste of space, you were nothing but a delinquent!! And now you try and do this to me?!! I was your only family and you betrayed me!! Now look at you...thinking you have the ability to be more than the lowly peasant you are...must have been a sad day when that commander of yours abandoned you," Kalf remarks, Adrian's breath shivering to his words, his world gone silent, thunder in the sky as his enemy walks away. "Goodbye, kid. If only that bastard didn't get in our way those years ago, you would've stand proudly beside me"
Kalf sighs, shaking his head, the thunder grows stronger, Kalf hearing his name shouted as a million volts make collision with his skin seeming like an impenetrable fortress, as Adrian gets him to cough blood, the smirk wiped off his face from a fury of blows that follows, each strike like blasts of thunder that breaks down his fortress, Adrian serving to him an uppercut that lands Kalf onto the ground, the knight then gripping his hands onto the man throat, his grip ceased up as before him he sees the crumbling down of another part of the estate, his eyes like a hawk that spots a handful of maids that were still on the inside. Grasping his vows as a knight, Adrian quickly dashes off to the rescue, as if he's forgotten about his main objective, the falling of rubbles slowed to the brilliance of his speed as he easily gets them to a safe point. And with their his side mission completed, his eyes quickly return to the man he yearns to finish off, thunder going off into one of his ears, comprehending that his own understanding tricked him for a moment, grasping the surge of pulsing pain in his left shoulder that he quickly blocks out, looking at one of the maids who had shot him with a revolver.
"Why...?" Adrian turns to her, not being able to construct a sentence in the surprise of her betrayal after saving her, looking into her frightened eyes as she continuously pulls onto the trigger even with no more bullets coming out. "Tch!"
Adrian letting go of his shoulder, he slaps the gun out of her hand, looking at the others who look at him with fear that he understands is not of him, but of their boss who laughs in the distance at seeing his situation.

"Maira! You did that for me? I actually appreciate that! When we get outta here, I'm raising your pay by 5%," Kalf laughs.
"Gracias..." The maid says, her eyes like a hungry beast looking at Adrian.
"Adrian, do you see now?" Kalf asks, the ladies grabbing hold onto Adrian's in wanting to hold him still, Adrian feeling as his body pulsates, understanding that the bullet he was shot with is nullifying his strength. "These fine ladies are all from different parts of the world who came here wanting to provide for their families. Such dedication to their loved ones. And you just had to come and ruin it all for them"
"Heh," Adrian sounds by the raise of Kalf's hands, chuckling as he truly begins to think this man is a true devil.
"Don't worry, ladies! If you don't survive this, I'll be making sure your families are well compensated! What do you say, Adrian? This has gotten pretty exciting, heh?"
A clap of his hands, like the thunder drumming against the sky, cast a monstrous howl like a beast's that chases towards the knight, Adrian gathering all his might, putting one foot forward as he channels a roar that battles the storm that halt's at his will to continue to fight, a clash of storms like colliding monsters that cut away at each other, their strength together raging through the estate, flinging soldiers of both sides alike, destroying what is in the middle of their clash, ripping away at many parts of the estate, decreased to stillness by their battle's ends, hollows like of their souls a remnant that flys away to the heavens. And by that, Adrian feels his strength grows more nullified, his head woozy, still feeling the sting of the bullet's bite, the maids ejected off him from his scream they hold their ears to, running off as seeing as Kalf lifts his hands once more, Adrian mouth gone dry, hoping this man isn't planning a next strike.
"Here comes the big one!" Kalf shouts excitedly, as so his words are true as appears a greater storm, a danger Adrian stretches his hand out to, thunder crackling into a greater rhythm like heartbeats of the sky, as struck by from above is Adrian by lightning that courses his entire body, with his tattoos stripping off from his hand with waving it down with a force that cancels the storm, going further beyond with blasting Kalf into a part of the mansion.
"Adrian!!!" Kalf comes out laughing, blood dripping from his mouth, as he feasts his eyes upon the boy he underestimated, his stance like a true warrior that begins to intimidate him, Adrian viewing the scar he made in the chest of Kalf who sights what he bears in his hands.
"By the gods, it was true. That king, how could he give a kid like you such a beauty of a national treasure??" Kalf questions in awe, viewing the weapon held firmly in Adrian's hands with realizing most of his tattoo has also disappeared. "Ah! You were storing it within your tattoos this whole time?"
"Tch!" Adrian ignores his question, pushing his fingers into his shoulder with yanking out the bullet from within him, and flashing before Kalf's eyes, the axe above his head which the mad titan quickly blocks, going into a struggle of strength with Adrian who nears the axe at his shoulder.
"The Stormbringer; the weapon once held by the great king Harold! Look at how larger than you it is," Kalf laughs.
"Surrender Kalf, it's over. You've lost. Surrender while I'm asking you nicely," Adrian warns him, Kalf grinning as he shakes his head.
"Ah lad, if only you knew why that would make no sense," Kalf says, his fist formed, but into his shoulder Stormbringer reaches, and out with a swing across, and goes his head that lops beside his body, ending the battle of berserkers, thunder roaring in the skies as it senses Adrian's aura that dances with the weapon once held by King Harold.
And by his body, he leans against a broken table, the nullifying from the bullet taken still coursing through his body, all the pain of Kalf's attacks returning, his body seemingly shutting down. But goes his peace, as appearing on the scene, are Kalf's men who see their boss lying in the rubble with his head separated.
"Boss!!" One still calls out.
"That kid killed the boss???" A second sounds in terror, gripping his weapon in feeling his vengeance rising. "Come on. He's tired, and not moving"
And to their steps, Adrian chuckles in trying to muster up his energy, all for them to witness a streak through the clouds, like a jet going at sonic speed, screaming as they’re lifted off the ground and called away by the wind with someone sticking a landing before Adrian.
"Ah, look at you," Adrian laughs, viewing his friend clad in his special armour, his lance in his hand. "Bet you're feeling like a little hero, huh Edris?"
"Sorry I'm late," Edris tells him, smiling as he takes his friend's hand, both seeing as a third joins the party from finishing their fight.
"Alps! Edris!!" Zhang Li joins, glancing over to Kalf's body. "Damn. What the hell happened here?"
With this battle over, the soldiers clad together to search for every piece of information they can find, arresting the henchmen, Zhang Li watching as they load Yuejin into an ambulance.
"Adrian, before he died, was there anything he told you in particular?" Captain Egil comes.
"No. He kept blabbering about how we ruined his business," Adrian tells him, remembering his last words before he died, concerned in what it could mean.
"Either way, you've all succeeded in stopping anybody else from getting hurt from what they were producing. Good job, I'm proud of you all," Edris tells them.
"Vice Commander!!!" Tomrik appears, breathing heavily.
"Yes, Tomrik?" Edris answers.
"You won't believe this," Tomrik says, the other captains seeing the grave worry in his eyes.
"What is it that has you so worked up, Tomrik? The battle is ove-" Captain Sebast takes the document, reading its details. "Vice Commander, you need to see this, and so she shares it with him.
Upon reading the document together with Adrian and Zhang Li, he also feels as his heart skips a beat, as in this document, it details an upcoming war, with an army of thousands mixed of various monsters, coming from an island in the east, by a group called the court of sister, helped by an ex-commander by the name of Eivin Anderson.
