《WileSideQuest》Struggle#07 - I don't care anymore

That was… interesting. I wonder who was that woman, and why she taught me her techniques. She was so strong, it’s I was a kitten in front of a lion, and yet, I felt like she only showed me the basics, and that it’s only a fraction of her real power… this is scary, and so exciting.
With this kind of power I could do so many things! Like… shit, I forgot about the Old man. It wasn’t even half a day, I’m such a…
Sigh… I don’t really know what to think anymore. What do I do know? I passed the door without really thinking about it, maybe I just wanted to end this… but now, I don’t really know. I feel tired, I don’t really want to fight anymore, I don’t want to see people die anymore, I don’t want to be strong.
It happened with Adelle, it happened with the Old man… I just can't deal with it, if things go on like this, I don't know what I'll happen. I might lose it…
Besides, it’s not like I have anyone waiting for me anymore.
The image of a handsome white-haired guy with grand caring red eyes looking at me flashed into my mind -this image is totally not contractual.
Sigh… I guess I'll have to keep going. Fuck you, Sam!
I gathered my resolution once again, I don’t know why the Old man jumped to save me, but at least it was not for me to sit down in a fucking cell. I’ll have to get out of here, and when I’ll go to the end of all of this, I’ll find out what really happened.
With my newly found hope, I approached the bars, and strongly bend them to allow me to pass. It was harder than regular steel for sure, but it’s nothing too much for me as I am right now.
The facilities seemed to be built underground, there was no window, the only sources of light were torches on the walls. The corridor extended right and left.
I went to the right, the way towards the exit should be up, so I should look at for stairs or some kind of elevator. I arrived at a corner, and started to hear some noise and see more light. However, the sound wasn’t reassuring, it was blunt or cutting sound.

I went to the edge of the corner and focus on my ears…
"Man… I have to say, this silence spell makes things so much easier."
“I know! It’s the fifth time you said that today! Stop bragging about that.”
“Who said I am bragging? It’s not because…”
And they kept talking like that, with machinery and weird sound was running in the background. I discretely passed my head to see what was going on…
On a wood table, a half-naked skinny man was tied, I couldn't see his face, but I could see another man with a mask on his face, and a white coat partially covered in red. This last one was… sawing the man's leg. Blood was spilling everywhere, and I could see the other leg missing. I could hear no sound from the skinny man, but his whole body was convulsing, and I could distinguish his jaw opening so wide it could break.
What the hell? This… is too much, but it wasn't the worst. Everywhere in the room, there was blood and piles of limbs. I could also here scribbling sound and light laugh, even though no pain scream were heard despite the sawing in progress.
Suddenly, the tied man on the table managed to undo one of his restraint and punched the man with the saw. In panic, the other one stabbed him.
What the hell? What the fuck? What the…?
“Man…Such a pain…”
…
What?
Such a…?
…Oh… I see.
Alice left the corner and walked toward the two man. In fact, there were more tormentors in the room, but none heard the young lady diligently walking toward the man holding the torture tool.
“Those stocks are really annoying when they…”
In the middle of his sentence, he stopped making sound with his mouth. In fact, silence completely falls on the room.
That’s when he remarked the girl, smiling widely at him. She wanted to show something to him, inside her palm, was something moving. A human heart, still beating.
Nobody will know what his last word was, just that he died in total silence, without anyone to notice.
All the others were busy scribing things on some paper note, and only after a minute had passed they realized something odd was going on.

One head falls to the ground, then another. The last guy was still clueless about what was happening. She didn't even bother to kill him directly. She gave him a little gift, and left the room.
I got back in front of my cells, and took a look at my hand… they were entirely covered in red, and trembling. Fear?
I heard a huge explosion from the tortured room.
No… excitement.
As she was going around the rest of the underground prison, memory was running wild in her mind.
A city in chaos.
A gun pointed at her.
Adelle, dead in her arm.
The words “Such a pain.” rezoning in her head.
…fear, despair, and hate.
Everything was resurfacing in a burst.
In the end, she had failed. She had lost it.
Eventually, I came across a guard, that, without any warning, shouted the alarm as soon as they spotted me.
The guard all had the same black uniform, with sort of weird gloves.
I easily knocked him off unconscious, I hesitated to kill him, but I remembered the Old man and Sam, and my hand stopped. It doesn’t really matter anyway, as long I get out of here.
But just further away in the same corridor, I arrived in front of ten prepared guards. Shit, they are fast. I engaged in close combat with a few of them, the place is just wide enough for two of them to attack at the same time, so it's quite advantageous to me.
I broke one arm, and moved on to another foe. However, as I continued beating the crap out of them, their number didn’t decrease at all.
Wait, this guy… how did he recover that fast?
I felt a tremendous shock on my back. From my back? Shit, I lost focus again, I punched the guard that I knocked of just minutes ago, but because of the electric backlash, my movement got sluggish, and another one found an opening.
“AAAAAHHHH!”
They continued to electrocute me with their gloves, and I fell on the floor. But they didn't stop, I tried to do something about it, but the pain was too high to concentrate.
At one point, it stopped. I was barely conscious, eye closed, and slightly convulsing.
“How the fuck did a she got here!”
“I-I have no idea Sir!”
"Fuck! If the security is compromised, y'all will regret your incompetence!"
“““Sir yes Sir!”””
Seems like they think I passed out. I roughly understood there is a kind of healing aura. I feel like I totally recovered, I just need to find an opportunity to…
“Damn, such a pain in the ass, can’t even…”
“Shut the fuck up.”
To everyone surprise, Alice was already on her feet, facing the guards, except one on her back.
The eyes of the one looking like the chief widen for an instant, before getting serious and cold again. He looked at the guard behind the girl, but the instant he made eye contact, her head started slowly sliding, and fell from her body.
“I don’t care anymore.”
“Who the fuc…”
Spluch.
The feeling of getting stabbed instantly, Alice had already felt it, in a dark underground cave, and now, the chief of the guard know it too.
With her arm piercing his chest, she had her palm pointed at the group behind him.
A torrent of flame invaded the whole corridor, incinerating all sign of life in front of the girl.
Only three guards and a dying commander were still standing. This last one tried to use his own glove in a last standing effort, but Alice swiftly split his head in half before he could do that. Spurting blood everywhere.
At this point, one guard pissed in his pants, and another one started crying.
The last one, call it courage, or madness, assault her.
One punch, and his skull splattered in pieces.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH”
The guards ran away for their life, but it was too late. With a swift round hand slash, both their head went flying in the air.
As the blood was slowly recovering the floor, Alice understood two important truth. She was a monster, and white hair get was too easily tainted by blood.
As her beautiful long unattached hair was slowly and almost magically turning completely blood red, our heroine resumed her way to find the exit.

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!
