Hello,
First of all, i want to say sorry for not posting chapter 9, actually not completely posting chapter 9. due to various reason, i didnt manage to finish chapter 9, first reason is, im flying out of the country today to work, so this past few weeks, most of it was spend preparing my documents and things to carry, and the second reason which im most ashamed of is, ive been engrossed reading "Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo" the whole vol. 1-6, im really sorry,
:boworpushups:
, as an apology, i will post some part that i finished in a spoiler, for those who want to read it even thought its not finished yet, then feel free to do so, but if you can still be patient with me, i promise to post the whole chapter by this week to come. (i hope so :?: )
again im really sorry
Spoiler : Chapter 9:Cannot be shown cause it will spoil the whole chapter.
3 days before we reach our destination, I felt that I can already use my right hand, so to confirm my feelings, I looked at my stat and noticed that the sprained stat where gone. I told this the old man and he told me that why don’t I try it, so I tried it, it hurts a bit but still, the main point is, I can use my right hand already! I don’t want to get over excited and strained my right arm causing it to be in sling again, so I do some stretches making my right arm be familiarize again to movements. Then the night the same day my right arm recovered, I started practicing my bow again, oh how I missed my bow so much. How I nock the arrow, pulled the string, breathing in and out while keeping the tension of the string on my check, then the moment I released it, as the arrow fly thru the bow like lightning released from heaven, how the vibrating sound of the string reaches my ear as it fixed its position still, and most of all, how the arrow zoom into the air then plunging deep into the target. Oh, how I miss this feeling so much. Since that day, I added training my bow when I practice.
Now, here we are, standing atop of a small hill, facing a town, not just a town, it’s a ruin of a town, you heard me, a ruin. Capital R u i n. RUIN! Damn! What am I going to do in this ruin? Build it so I can train? Train what? My architectural skill? Damn! Damn! Damn! I want to be an engineer, not an architect, wait, what engineer do I want again, damn engineering courses, too many to choose from, oh and I hate math, on a second thought, I don’t want to be an engineer I’ll just go for uhmmm…

“You’re not here for the ruins, you’re here because of what’s in the ruins” the voice said from beside me, and it’s from the old man, who else would be with me in this archeological site except for the old man. It seems he noticed that I’m making weird faces and thinking that I’ve been con.
“Wait, did you say what? Isn’t it who you’re supposed to be saying, since it supposed to teach me how to fight?” I asked bewildered
“You have a point there, but what is the more appropriate word, for they are not human or any races anymore in this world, or you can say they do not belong in this world anymore?” he said
“WHAT?! ARE THEY GHOS…”
“SLAP!” I didn’t finished what I’m about to say, because, because, because, I just slowly crouch where I was standing and cover my head for protection.
“I’m sorry.” I said weakly
“Anyway, they are not ghost.” He said
“Good they are not ghost, I’m quite scared of ghost. Are they some kind of a spirit?” I ask excited, already forgetting that I was been hit earlier.
“Don’t call them Spirit, because when the spirit heard what you just said, they would take it as an insult and be mad at you. You don’t want them as an enemy, anyway, they are… it’s hard to explain, you can just call them as immaterial, bodiless, formless, or incorporeal for they are like that, when they were living, they chose to become like that instead of dying, I don’t know why they chose to become like that so don’t ask me.” This old man had the ability to anticipate me, he seems to know when will I interrupt him when he was talking, am I that obvious? I thought
“Anyway, it’s not because I didn’t even tried to ask, that’s why I don’t know, I tried many times, but they don’t tell their reason to anyone who didn’t finished their training.” I immediately jump backward and interrupted what he was about to say next.
“You didn’t finished your training? And yet, you’re that strong? Where do I sign up?” I asked excitedly. It seems the old man didn’t anticipated this. Hahaha, I’m getting genius by the moment.
“Do that again and I’ll kill you.” He casually said, I felt scared and threaten at that moment. I was sweating cold marbles when he said that. I took a step forward placing myself beside him again. Then…

“SLAP” I was, you know, then I was about to ask why he did that, but when I looked at him, I just slowly crouch and protect my head again. Then I heard a snicker behind me, I looked back and saw Misha, lying on her belly on all four, except her two front paw was covering her snout. Wait, am I imagining things or seeing things, for Misha was doing something like giggling motion. Right, she was giggling, wait a minute, does she understand what was happening? Or this devil beside me taught my cute Misha something evil like this. Oh gods, I can see my future already.
“Anyway, I didn’t finished the training because I can’t do it, but because, oh I forgot I was not supposed to tell, and anyway, you’ll know soon enough if you reach the last stages of the training.” He said explaining. You just don’t want to tell that you failed, making excuses. Stupid old man!
“SLAP” he hit me while I was crouching. “I know what you are thinking right now.” He said. I was about to refute but decided not to, my head is already hurting, and I think I can’t take any more damage this day.
“Good, back to the topic, they chose to be like that because they had their own reason, let’s just put it like that. Not anyone can become like them, it’s not like if you think you want to be one you’ll become one, the gods must grant it to you, so expect all of them to be strong or strong in their living life, for the gods only grant something if you offer them something in return and that something must be a High mana condensation or almost equal to it.” he said, I stand up amaze at what he said. Then I remember all the hitting the old man did to me, it made me scared, did the old man learned it from them? Am I going to hell?
“Then they can hurt me much stronger than what you are doing?” I asked scared
“When did I ever hurt you?” he asked puzzled, then he tilt his head, he seems thinking something. “That’s right, I didn’t hurt you because if I did, I can remember when.” He said with finality. Damn he didn’t even gave me a chance to refute!
“Anyway, if you’re thinking that you’re going to get hurt out there, let me ease your mind a “little bit”, they can’t hurt you themselves “most of the time”” he said, emphasizing two phrase that scared me. “What I mean is, they really can’t hurt you unless they decided to, for they incur some sort of punishment to themselves if they do so. I’m telling you this so you won’t be complacent in front of them thinking that they can’t hurt you most of the time, if they decided it was worth it to be punished just to hurt you then you’re on your way to hell.” He said threateningly
“You will know other details about them as the time goes by accompanying them, that is if you pass the trials to be trained by them.” He continued.
“What? There is a trial? What is it?” I asked
“About the trial, I can’t tell you anything about it, for if you know even a single bit, they won’t teach you, all you need to know is the requirement, first must not be over 70 years old which you pass, and second must not be higher than Commoner Grade 4, which you also pass and with flying colors.” He said with sarcasm
“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” I said excitedly, then I walk forward with a grin on my face, but.
“Hold on Reiven, you will be going there alone.” The old man said, calling me with my previous name, this is the second time he said my name. The first time he called my name, was the moment he deemed he was asking something serious, using my name again seems to bring another serious matter.
this post will be deleted or edited when i post the whole chapter. again im really sorry, hope you can find in you to forgive me.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Please use your best judgment, and don't be afraid to take breaks and come back later. I'll still be here! [Discord] - come hang out and chat! 8 112Fighting God
A powerful but naive fighting expert lived a short and unfulfilling life. On his deathbed, his regret reached the Heavens, who gave him another chance. Now, reborn in a world of magic with memories of his past, he set out to make his name. However, life doesn't go his way most of the time - born with no affinity to the elements and unable to channel mana...what can he do? Well, guess he can only depend on his fists. [15+] for gore, strong language, and violence. I will post at least one chapter every one or two weeks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is my first novel. Enjoy if you can. Leave a comment on any grammar issues or why its bad so I can improve it. If you like what you read, leave a good rating.
8 183Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
