My true love gave to me…

Six day shifts

Five dedicated rings

Four handpicked gifts

Three unique Stories

Two different households

And one giant excuse!

Chris looked at his boss and thought about potentially having to harm him. At this point in time, a whole seven days before Christmas, and his boss had decided to give him all the day shifts.

"But why are all of these given to me? I asked for leave a while ago, but you told me no one else can take these shifts now."

"Yeah but, a lot of people obviously want to take off around now. So I really wanted someone, and that just so happened to be you. At least for a few days before Christmas." His boss explained.

"I understand that,” Chris began, “But that doesn't explain why I can't have the week before Christmas off."

"Does it really matter? What's another five days?"

Chris tried to hide his anger, "I know these few days seem like they don't matter, but I have something really important going on right now."

"Is it about your brother?" His boss asked.

"No, but-"

“Then I don't know what else could be more important than that." Chris' boss seemed not to care anymore, it was almost like he knew that Chris was possibly talking about a girl. "Look, I know you might think this is something important but, it can wait. It's waited all year so now’s not any different. " Chris was trying now visibly to hide his anger. He took a deep breath and then looked at his boss.

"So all of my shifts are going to be for Christmas parties?" His boss nodded, "Well, I'll be on my best as usual then, but you'll have to let me call my brother first." His boss nodded and let him leave the room. Chris took out his phone and called his brother, thankfully he picked up quickly.

"What is it?"

"Besides you sounding like a rude brat, I need your help and getting something."

"I bet it's for that girl huh?"

Chris chuckled, "Of course, what else would I need your help for?"

"I don’t know, but am I going to get compensated for this?"

"I bet you want to keep having a house over your head? Because otherwise I don't know what I can give you."

His brother sighed, "Fine, what do you think she'd want?"

"Right now it doesn't really matter. Just look up a few things, and we'll go from there."

"Are you going to be here soon?"

"No, my boss is putting me through the wringer so I figure I can take care of what I need to and he doesn't have to know I'm doing that."

"Will he be mad that you're not working?"

"Of course he will, but when you ask me to do something, this is what you get."

His brother laughed, "I can't believe you're this annoying even at work, but for sure I'll look for something and tell you what I find."

"Good and don't be cheap about it either, money isn't an issue."

"Alright, see you at home."
