It was 12:30 PM - the same day of the operations and the secret service meeting. The Inspector knocked on the Chief Inspector’s office door.

‘Enter.’

The Inspector opened the door and stepped into the Chief Inspector’s office. He closed it behind him.

‘Sir, the operations team has gotten back from the Victory docks, and we have 12 targets we may want to hand over to the SS.’

‘Any word from Bedivere?’ - The Chief Inspector asked whilst still studying a file in front of him.

‘Not yet sir - the operations team expect contact to be made by early tomorrow morning.’

‘I see.’

‘Sir, these personnel files from the Victory docks and the known associates of Lancelot - I was thinking.’

‘Yes?’

‘We should hand the files over to the secret service sir - and let their snatch teams bring the targets in.’

‘And why would we want to do that, Inspector?’

‘Sir, it is obvious that Number two has concerns regarding our...our methods, sir. If we hand them over the files, it will send a strong message that we intend to play fair and work for the greater good, sir.’

‘The greater good, Inspector?’

‘Yes sir. Also sir, it gives the SS something to do whilst we locate and detain Bedivere.’

‘Hmmmmmm’

‘And one last thing sir; it might save on a bit of shoe leather and overtime sir.’

‘Yes, very good point Inspector. Greater good! I like it.’

‘Thank you sir.’

‘Leave the files with me - I will have a chat with Number Three and gauge his appetite for working for “the greater good”!’

‘Yes sir’ - the Inspector left the 12 files on the Chief Inspector’s desk, then exited the office.
