[Velma is sat in the front of the van, sandwiched between Marshall driving and Alice wiping blood from her face. They’re driving further into the field, the sky starting to turn pure blue. Velma’s phone starts to buzz to the tune of “Istanbul, not Constantinople”. Alice turns to her, looking confused.]
Marshall: Who is calling you-
Velma: [defensive] No one!
Marshall: Velma-
[Alice quickly snatches Velma’s phone and throws it out the car window.]
Velma: [angry] Alice!
Alice: We’re in a pocket universe, you’ll get your phone back.
Velma: [surprised] Sorry, what?
Marshall: Secondary power, I can open pocket dimensions.
[Marshall turns to Velma, looking confused.]
Velma: Oh… okay then.
Marshall: You’ve seen weirder. Summer holiday ‘04.
Alice: [upset] Aw, I wasn’t there for ‘04. What happened ‘04?
Velma: Alternate timeline. It was…
[Velma chuckles, looking down.]
Alice: [confused] What?
Velma: [chuckling] I just… I think this is the most casual we’ve talked and you’re covered in blood.
[Alice chuckles madly.]
Marshall: It was the wedding day.
[Marshall starts to park the van, looking quickly at the two.]
Marshall: To answer your question.
[Alice pouts, smiling.]
Alice: [sweet] Oh, now isn’t that adorable? Was the weather nice?
Velma: Yeah, actually. Nice and sunny.
Marshall: Until it rained halfway. Still quite nice though.
[Marshall opens the van door then exits the van.]
Velma: I thought it was actually prettier after it rained.
[Alice unlocks the car door and starts exiting.]
Alice: Maybe I’ll visit some day.
[Alice and Velma both exit the van, going around to see Marshall leaning against the doors.]
Marshall: So firstly… sorry for killing your cab driver.
Velma: You’ve done worse.
Marshall: True. Secondly…
[Marshall sighs.]
Marshall: I’m going to regret this, but how is Cecil?
Velma: Well his girlfriend died. He also calls himself Sissel now, for some reason that I don’t understand fully.

Alice: [chuckling] Well, boys will be boys. Like, Marshall-
Marshall: [forceful] Alice, get back in the van.
Alice: But-
Marshall: [forceful] Now.
[Alice pouts, stomping back into the van and slamming the door shut.]
Marshall: [upset] I’m sorry to hear about C… Sissel.
Velma: He’s getting better.
Marshall: Talked to Conlon recently?
[Velma scoffs, looking at the floor. She goes over and leans on the van next to Marshall.]
Velma: We’ve not talked in weeks. There was an incident according to him.
Marshall: Damn… he was an alright guy.
Velma: [defensive] He is alright. He’s the greatest guy I know.
[Marshall smiles.]
Marshall: So life’s alright then?
Velma: As good as it can be, yeah.
Marshall: [worried] Well then… I have to wonder what we’re going to talk about?
[Velma swallows her breath, then moves to stand in front of Marshall.]
Velma: [worried] We both know why you’re here.
Marshall: The Storm.
Velma: [annoyed] Did you have to bring it here?
Marshall: I was dealing with Goldberg and the Tweedles, I tried to stop it and have done my justice.
Velma: [worried] Please tell me you didn’t-
Marshall: [forceful] Just tell me what you need to tell me.
Velma: [worried] Sissel has a power!
[Marshall goes wide-eyed.]
Marshall: [worried] Are you sure?
Velma: [worried] Yes, very, I’ve… he’s talking to dead people! And his friends have powers as well.
Marshall: [worried] How do you know it’s ghosts?
[Velma sighs.]
Velma: [worried] What else would it be?
[Marshall nods slowly.]
Marshall: It’s not your fault.
Velma: [annoyed] I know! This wouldn’t have happened if the bloody storm hadn’t-
Marshall: [forceful] Calm.
[Velma starts to take deep breaths.]
Velma: [worried] I don’t want my son to get hurt…
Marshall: I understand. If my kid was in danger then I’d-

Velma: [worried] But he isn’t, is he? Because he’s got you to look out for him. Sissel doesn’t have that, I can’t help him at all. I want Cecil to be protected, not prosecuted!
Marshall: [angry] Do you think I’m just killer? I’ll blindly kill a kid?
Velma: [annoyed] Well you did it to the Tweedles.
Marshall: [angry] They destroyed our lives! You got a problem with that?
Velma: [angry] I got a problem with you killing people!
[Velma and Marshall stare angrily at each other, sighing.]
Velma: [upset] What the fuck happened to us?
Marshall: [upset] Things went wrong, that’s all. I’m going to fix them.
Velma: [upset] You’ve been saying that for years.
Marshall: [upset] I mean it.
[A phone can be heard buzzing “Istanbul, not Constantinople” in the distant. Velma sighs, turning to get it.]
Marshall: [upset] I’ll look after your son. I promise.
Velma: [hesitant] Thank you.
[Velma goes over into the distance, finding her phone and answering it.]
Velma: [confused] Hello? Conlon, hey… what’s wrong?
[Velma listens for a bit. She quickly turns to Marshall, looking furious.]
Velma: [angry, worried] Okay… I’ll call you back soon, okay, just stay calm for me.
[Velma hangs up, pocketing her phone.]
Marshall: [confused] What? Conlon called, was that not a good thing?
Velma: [furious] What did you do?
Marshall: [confused] What do you mean? I’ve been with you all day.
Velma: [furious] Conlon just called, he’s been in hospital all week. What did you do?

The Successor
The Immortal God Emperor is dead...yet his Successor will one day arise. The worlds had long moved on from the greatest Cultivator of all time. The things that had been achieved and the advances made in the Immortal God Emperor's absence were nothing to turn one's nose up at. And yet, something was always missing. Because Cultivators, no matter the goals they pursue, always bow to the greater power. They seek it, they covet it for themselves, and they serve it with reverence. Shan Kai Lan was born into such a world. Born to two herb farmers whose cultivation did not surpass the Foundation Realm, yet who loved their son more than anything. Kai Lan was a child blessed by the Spiritual Plain, far more gifted and more intelligent than others his age. Yet the more profound his achievements, the greater the likelihood that his happy, peaceful life would be trampled on by those who desired his potential for themselves. The question of Kai Lan's journey becomes not whether he will reach the highest peak of cultivation, but what he will be forced to do to keep his young Clan, and the happiness it provides, at peace.
