《Goblins :Rising》Rise of An Empire 1

After feasting on the troll's corpse, Gablin was stuffed.
For a poor excuse for a Boss, he tasted good.
Too bad there was nothing left on her to-do list. She could hunt down every bad Boss she saw.
The thought made her smile.
Well, it was time to get down to business.
The first order of business was cleaning the mess of the troll's corpse away which she left to her minions as she thought of the future.
Now that she was finally free what would she do with herself? She could see herself and her squad becoming rich and powerful and protecting the rights of goblins but is that really what she wanted. Sigh, what would Grandmother say? Gablin tried to imagine it.
'' You are a Gablaun. The last of our line, the only Goblin House to have existed. You know what you must do''
And just like that Gablin knew what to do.
It was not for her to grow powerful or wealthy. It was not for her to stand up for the rights of Goblins.
No.
For in her heart, she was still a Gablaun.
Which meant she had to do what every Gablaun did best.
Rule over others.
Control others.
Take what she wanted whenever she wanted to.
For that was the creed every Gablaun lived by.
Now that she had an idea of what she wanted to do with her post-minion life, Gablin turned to her loyal squad.
'' Gringor remember that goblin settlement we stayed for a little bit?''
'' Yeah. That place was shit. Why?''
'' I need you to lead us there. I've decided where to start building my future empire''
Two and a half hours later, Gablin stood before the gates of her new village. She wondered how it would look, how the people would look and whether they would be agreeable? It had been a while since she had
'' Gringor do the honours''
''Yes, Boss. OPEN THE GATES FOR THE GOBLINS SQUAD!!!''
The gates were opened a little and two guards wielding clubs came out''
'' Who da fuck you be, Goblin Squad?'' the one on the left said.

'' Minions of Gabin Gablaun and her elite bodyguards. Now open up''
'' What kind of shit name be Gablau-?''
Before he could finish his sentence, Giblin slammed him against the ground.
'' Don't you ever spit on my family's name again? Do you understand me?'' Gablin spat furiously.
'' Yes Ma'am'' The goblin quivered in fear.
'' Now open the gate peasant''
When the gates were open, Gablin walked in and assessed her domain to-be.
About thirty huts laid in a mishmashed arrangement. Some had small gardens beside them. Children played in the streets. In the distance, Gablin could see some fields and cows.
She asked some children the way to the council's hut and found out it was in the centre of the town. As she walked there Gablin pondered some questions.
How would she convince the council to listen to her ideas?
Would they let her take over?
If they didn't what would she do?
Well, that was obvious. Kill them and take over anyway.
Gablin had to wait a while after arriving at her location because the council wasn't there and they had to go look for them.
She felt nostalgic as she remembered how they took her in and raised her.
Fentur, Wulim, Kingar and Onteim.
Her adoptive parents.
'' Greetings old ones'' Gablin greeted.
'' Please we arent that old'' Onteim chuckled. Out of all of them, Gablin liked him the most. He was funny.
'' Why have you come Gablin?'' Wulim asked. Gablin never liked the uptight bitch.
'' I have come bringing news. But first I must inform you that my master is dead''
'' IMPOSSIBLE!!! Your master was one of the strongest beings in the-'' Kingar roared.
'' Silence'' Wulim cut him off. Gablin had forgotten that she was their unofficial leader. '' I presume you are the one who killed him?''
'' Indeed''
'' And how did you manage to defeat him?''
'' The System''
They all started talking loudly as soon as she finished talking.
'' THE SYSTEM?''
'' I thought we lost all access ''
'' What does this mean''
'' I don't know-''

''Silence'' Wulim restored order.'' What do you know of this System child?''
It irked her to be called child but she answered.'' The Supreme Deity created it and access was granted to all races so they could progress. That is all I know''
'' Good. Now let me tell you a story''
'' When the Supreme Deity granted access to all races, Goblins were part of those races''
''We lived in harmony with the other races for millennia. Until one-day Galaban arose''
'' He had been chief of a small tribe until raiders killed his family one day. He begged to go after them and seek revenge. But the other tribes refused. Galaban never got over it''
'' For that year's festival, held for chieftains Galaban was the host. He put on the biggest festival ever. Good food, music and dancing. Little did his guests know what he had in store for them''
'' In the middle of the night, Galaban's forces attacked with foreign mercenaries. The chieftain's bodyguards tried to put up a fight but they all fell eventually. By morning the first Goblin King had been crowned and a war for total domination was ordered''
'' It took ten years to defeat Galaba and the effects of that war are still felt today. Goblins are treated like trash all over the world because of your ancestor''
'' Back up, My Ancestor?''
'' Didn't you know?'' She seemed confused '' After becoming King, he remarried, had children and started the Gablaun line''
'' I see'' It pleased Gablin to know her ancestor was the only Goblin King in history.'' So is there a moral lesson in this or what?''
'' No there isn't'' Wulim seemed annoyed. '' It just goes to show that the System empowers everything the good ad the bad. Now, what have you come here for?''
'' I came here with a proposition but I'm not sure you'll want to hear it anymore''
'' Oh, really Why is that?''
'' I came bringing access to the System for the entire village but I wanted to run it by you. What do you think?''
'' Hmm Let me think. NO''
''No? Why?''
'' Did you not hear the story I just told you? Galaban used the System to commit atrocities against the other races to the point the Supreme Deity had to remove access for all goblins. And now you want to bring that wretched thing back? We say no''
'' This is ridiculous. Think of all you could do with it''
'' That's rich coming from a Gablaun''
'' And what's that supposed to mean?'' Gablin asked.
'' It means that in the hands of people like you something meant to bring prosperity becomes a curse''
'' So you really won't' reconsider this?''
'' We won't'' Wulim said, resolve in her eyes.
'' I'm sorry child'' Kingar said.
'' I wish there was another way'' Fentur finally spoke up.
Onteim just sat looking bored.
'' That's okay. I respect the council's decision''
'' You may stay the night but tomorrow you must leave and never come back'' Wium said.
Gablin bowed and left the hut.
Outside her minions stood waiting.
'' So Boss what happened?''
'' Did they accept your offer?''
'' Yeah did they?''
'' Boss I'm hungr-''
'' SHUT UP!!! I will answer your questions after dinner''
They ate dinner in silence while Gablin ate with a grim look.
'' So Boss did they accept'' Fehia asked with trepidation.
''No''
'' No. Why ?''
And so Gablin told them the story of Galaban, how goblins lost access to the System and the aftermath of it.
'' So what do we do now Boss?''
'' We've pursued diplomacy and been refused. What do you think we should do?''
'' We could beg them''
'' Take up a petition''
''Let the people vote on it''
'' No. We'll settle it the way all Gablauns settle things after diplomacy''
'' What's that Boss?'' Algorr asked curiously.
'' Kill the opposing party''
'' You mean ?''
'' Yes.''
Gablin looked at her expectant crew.
'' It's time for a coup''

Ogre Tyrant
Tim wakes up to find he is naked and alone in a fantasy world. However, he is not as alone as he first thought. There are other people running around all over the place fighting monsters for a living. Unfortunately for Tim, he seems to be one of those monsters. Desperate for any degree of safety and normalcy he can find, Tim must tread a fine line between freedom and subservience to survive. All while trying to keep alive a trio of adventurers hellbent on becoming legends. However, unfortunately for Tim, he is not the only one from earth to awaken in this world and the other Awakened aren't nearly so benevolent. Warning: The protagonist begins the story quite cowed and meek but progresses into a more assertive and situationally dominant personality. This is partly due to growth, but also a result of the character overcoming initial shock and longstanding depression. If you think I could have handled a segment better, by all means, point it out and provide your reasoning and suggestion. Everyone's experience of depression is different, and Tim's is a close representation of my own, so it won't necessarily 'vibe' with everyone. Chapters are around 15k words and released approx 1/week over the weekend. Has been reduced to around 7.5k to 9k to better fit my schedule.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
