《Under a Harey Moon》Chapter 0 Prologue - Going Out for a Bite

With a stretch and a yawn, he got out of his makeshift bed. If he was honest with himself, it was more of a nest made of hey, fur and feathers. That was the best sleep he had gotten in a long time. His white fur coat rippled over his shoulders as he headed to the entrance of his spring home away from home. He was still a bit over weight from his gouging last winter. Looking for a bit of a change, he decided to check on the wild carrots just on the other side of the large rocks. He was half way across the rocks when suddenly something went “SNAP” and he was being thrown into the air by a rope which was suddenly around his large feet. He quickly bent to find the knot when he realized he was heading back down toward the ground.

He awoke, still dangling from his legs. He had no idea how long he had been there, but due to the growing puddle of blood swimming before his eyes it had been quite a while. Before he could bring his cloudy head to enough clarity to bring up the status screen to check his HP, there was an approaching rustle, and a massive brown something appeared. How long had he been upside down to be this messed up?

“Excellent! This little guy will make a great supper!” said the figure dressed in brown reaching out towards him
“I never wanted to do this to anyone, but you left me no choice kid” he thought to himself as he suddenly reached out and bit the hand reaching out to him. Without pausing, and ignoring the scream of the bitten hunter, he reached up and started chewing on the rope as fast as he could. As soon as he had bitten it through, he fell and ran towards the underbrush

No! he didn’t realize the hunter was armed for range! The arrow in his haunch shot pain up his spine with every step, but he couldn’t stop. Seconds later the decision was no longer his to make, when he collapsed into the brush. His last thought was relief that at least he had already had his revenge, and the hunter had no idea… yet

YOU ARE DEAD
“Now where did that fat white rabbit go?” Jacob wondered as he searched the area. He could have sworn it ran this way. He parted the brush, jumped up and quickly ran back towards town! Clearly there were bandits, or raiders, or something to that end in the area, and the guards had to know. Why else would there be a naked man face down in that hedge? And judging by that head wound, whoever did that meant serious business!
He’s just going to have to leave his kill wherever it had fallen, but he was sure it had due to the message he had received. That little guy was clearly older than he thought, since it gave enough EXP to show him what he had been waiting days to see.
