《My Roleplay Server》Chapter 4 Going Out

Kamara watched the stream until he was ready for bed. Before he was done he made sure to follow and subscribe. And because he was happy to be back alive he even donated two thousand dollars. He didn't stay long enough to see the reaction, but he wouldn't have cared either way.
While he lay in bed dozing off, Kamara thought about which platform he would choose to go live on. Unlike his last world where there were only three realistic options to choose from, in this one there were at least five or six popular streaming services that had worldwide viewerships. For a brief period, he thought about making his own, but he decided against it. There was no point in him doing it.
Each of the different services had its own culture and styles that were popular on them. They each had a category that they particularly specialized in, but they didn't limit anything. In the end, he decided to use the one that specialized in video games. Since RP isn't that big at the moment, this was the closest thing he could think of to what he wanted to do long-term.
He could stream on all of them simultaneously if he got the highest internet package, but he would have to make a decision eventually. And his viewer interaction would suffer if he had to respond to five or six different chats every time he wanted to talk in his stream. Also, it would make building a community harder than necessary. In the end, after very little deliberation, Kamara chose the streaming service Flinch to start his journey in this world as a streamer. The last thing Kamara thought about before he slept was what his online name would be.
The next morning Kamara woke up with a stiff back. He had slept decently but his bed wasn't the most comfortable and he tossed and turned a lot in his sleep.
With a deep yawn, he stretched out his joints, his bones letting out loud popping sounds as he did so. After he was loose enough from the stretches he made his way to the bathroom to freshen up for today. He planned on going out and enjoying his day, he had to make sure he looked nice for it. One never knew what they might experience when out on the town.
When he was done in the bathroom he made his way back to his room to get dressed for the day. He didn't have many clothes, and the ones he did have were neutral colors. He didn't really like most of the clothes he owned, but they had to do for now. After going through his wardrobe and closet, he was able to find something that interested him. It was a navy blue and brown outfit, with the top being a plain navy blue t-shirt and the bottoms being brown casual pants. It was something that his grandmother had randomly brought for him a while back.

It was a nice outfit that his past self only wore once or twice whenever he went out with them, but after their passing, they put it in the back of the closet and never touched it again.
With a sad smile, Kamara decided to put the outfit on. Although he didn't have many feelings for his family in this life he did feel thankful for having them. They loved him and treated him incredibly well, it's just unfortunate that his soul did not have the capacity to return the favor at the time. And he doesn't have the chance to do it now, but he could at least do small gestures like this and would hope they could see him in the afterlife.
After getting dressed, he checked himself out in the mirror to make sure he looked alright He still needed a haircut, but overall he felt he looked pretty good. Getting a haircut was the second thing on his list after getting breakfast from some random spot he picked nearby. Satisfied with his appearance Kamara put his white shoes on, which were, fortunately, brand new as the last pair were too beat-up to use, grabbed his keys and wallet then headed out the door to experience the city.
The first place Kamara went for the day was a nearby breakfast spot, by the name of Early Morning Eats he found on his GPS while he was on the elevator down from his apartment. It had a good review and wasn't that expensive. The only problem was that it was a pretty busy place, and you had to arrive early to get a seat for the breakfast menu. But he didn't think that would be an issue as he had woke up pretty early today, it was 5:10 when he left the house, and apparently, the place didn't pick up until six or seven o'clock. Even if there was a bit of a wait he wouldn't mind, he was in no rush.
While walking Kamara made sure to get a good look at the area surrounding his apartment building. Since he lived in the downtown area, there were plenty of places around him. Just across the street from here was a small liquor store and to the right of that is the only restaurant on this block, Jackson's Little Foods, a small comfy place that had a bit of everything. The rest of the area was filled with small mom-and-pop shops, like the corner store he would get most of his groceries at.

The streets were not packed this early in the morning, but there was still heavy foot traffic going around from people going to and from their day jobs. From what he could see most people didn't look too upset, he even saw smiles fairly regularly. He could guess why it was like this.
From his research last night he had found that the work-life here was much better than he could've imagined. Since people had their basic needs provided to them, they didn't need to work much. But many chose to do so, either out of boredom or because they want more comfort in their life. Employers also knew that workers didn't need them so they, in turn, treat their workers much better to entice workers.
Many benefits that Kamara could only dream of in his last life could be found now, like four-hour workdays, work from home, great pay that is equivalent to the amount of work done, eight weeks of vacation time, and even 40 days of sick leave. There were even more benefits around depending on the job you have and how dangerous it is. Some even go as far as providing you with a pretty large life insurance policy just in case you untimely pass on the job.
While thinking about this new 'paradise' that he now lived in Kamara couldn't help but have a joyful smile form on his face. He got so comfortable that he even went as far to greet people he saw sitting outside their shops or homes. He never stayed long enough to have an actual conversation, just a high-and-bye situation. Although there were a few people that he thought looked interesting. But, he had started getting hungry from all the walking and therefore kept it pushing.
It took about fifteen minutes for Kamara to get to his destination and by the time he arrived, he was met with a small line already formed in front of the building. Nothing serious, at the most it was two groups, but by the way, they were interacting he guessed it was more likely one group of four. So he casually joined the back of the line and pulled his phone out and waited. He figured that while he had the spare time he should do some more research. Most of his time was spent on the Mali Empire, the Central continent, and The WG. But there were still plenty more interesting things that he briefly saw while he was looking, even Antarctica had some interesting things happening on it that fascinate him.
They had found remains of an ancient civilization on the frozen continent and now the WG had designated a large task force made up of experts from every continent to see what else they could find there. So far it hadn't been able to find an actual body, but everything little thing they found made them more confident that some intelligent species lived here before. Whether they be human or not is still up for debate.
Right now the civilization had been given the placeholder name of Civilization 0. As time passed more and more people joined in behind him.
Just as Kamara was going to learn about the innovations out of India, he felt a tap on his shoulder. Looking up Kamara saw a pretty woman smiling at him.
She has clear dark brown skin, thick lips, and hazel brown eyes. Her is dreaded hair, with dread accessories in it, and is put into a bun on the top of her head with a white hair scarf wrapped around the base of it. She stands about the same height as Kamara but he figured that she might be a few inches shorter than him. She is dressed in a casual outfit like him, with jeans and a peach blouse, and shoes to match. She has some jewelry along her neck, wrist, ears, and fingers, but it was nothing too flashy. The most notable piece of jewelry is a septum piercing with a little owl jewel hanging from it. Overall he thought she looked good.
While Kamara got a good look at the woman he did not forget to reply. "How may I help you, ma'am," he said with a small smile.
