《I want to live》ch. 3 Lynda

I’m... I’m crying... what’s this? Since when can food taste this good? I wipe my tears and take another bite of the food they brought me. It’s strange. The brown thing in the middle is extremely good, the red round things are also quite tasty, the liquid, which is quite sticky, is very strong but the green thing balances everything. I can’t help but to cry again.
“Have you never eaten a hamburger?”
“Oh... so it’s called a hamburger. No, I’ve never eaten one. The only food I’ve eaten where things that come in a little package, they didn’t have any flavor, and as they were some powder-like things, they felt like eating dust.”
She looks at me with a very confused face. I think she is a little slow, she tends to wait a while when answering my questions. She looks outside for some time and after she looks at me with a serious face.
“What’s the name of your parents?”
“Parents?”
“Yeah, you know... the ones who take care of you?”
“Ooh, they died.”
“Oh, sorry.”
“Don’t worry, I'm quite happy about it.”
She looks at me with an even more confusing face that last time. She takes some time to while considering something.
“Where do you live?”
“Uhm... right now, I suppose I don’t have where to live.”
“What?”
“Well, I mean, since my parents died yesterday, I can’t return to where I lived. The remaining ones would try to kill me.”
She looks down, she seems a little conflicted. Maybe I’m making her a little uncomfortable. Is my face that strange? should I go? As I finished my hamburger, I stood up.
“Thank you for the food.”
“Hey wait!!”
“What happened?”
“Where do you plan to sleep?”
“I don’t know, maybe I’ll sleep with one of those people sleeping outside the buildings.”
She looks very hesitant
“Do you... DO YOU WANT TO SLEEP WITH ME!... I MEAN, IN THE SAME APARTMENT.”
She looks to the other people nearby and see everyone looking at us. It’s probably because she just screamed. She looks a little panicked.

“Yes.”
“What!? You won’t ask why!?”
“Well, since you asked me, it would be unpolite of me to refuse.”
“Mm... well just come with me.”
She looks defeated...
…
[Lynda’s POV]
“Aaggh, it feels so frustrating.”
Why does that ***** always try to take the spotlight!? Whenever we finish our task she tries to take the credit, even though I do almost all the work, she just flirts with the guys in the office all day. Just because she's been here for a year more, she thinks she’s my boss. If just they wouldn’t have put me in her team.
“Hello.”
“What do you want!?”
Who’s the one that... wow... his face. How can there be someone as handsome, no, as beautiful as him?
He’s just perfect, well if I had to say one complaint is that his face looks a little feminine and that his hair is just too long. But with some work he could possibly be the most beautiful person I've ever seen. If he were my boyfriend, I could show him to that *****, she would be incredibly jealous.
“Sorry, do I know you?”
“I don’t think so”
“So... what do you want?”
Does he want my number? maybe he wants to ask me for a date. No why would a guy like him be interested in someone like me? I’m just a plain looking girl.
“Do you want to trade some food with me?”
What!?
“Sorry, what?”
“Yeah, I mean. I have some of this”
He shows me some money... what’s this?
“Is this some kind of joke? Cause right now I don’t have time for jokes.”
“No, I just haven’t eaten since yesterday.”
“So why don’t you just go to some fast-food place or something?”
“What’s fast food? does the food run?”
He doesn’t seem to be joking, his face is just too serious, if he’s being honest, he maybe has some kind of mental problem. it would be a little rude to not help him. Besides I can probably get a free meal.

“Alright, follow me.”
“Okey.”
…
I take him to the closer fast-food place.
“Hey, I think I haven’t told you my name, I’m Lynda”
“Oh, I’m Chrys”
Does he know how to order food? Probably not. I’ll just ask him to do what I do
“Well, Chrys, it's time to order some food, just follow me and do what I do”
“Got it”
I bring him to the counter.
“Good day, may I take your order, ma’am?”
“Yeah, it’ll be number 4”
“Alright, and you sir”
“Yeah, it’ll be number 4”
“That would be 10 chips”
I look at Chrys to indicate that he has to pay but he doesn’t seem to get it. I guess I’ll just pay and ask him for the money later. I give the money to the cashier. Chrys looks at me and does the same. What? The cashier looks at us a little conflicted, he gives me my money back. I look at Chrys and he seems to be waiting something. The cashier tries to give the ticket to Chrys but Chrys just looks at him a little angry. I take the ticket instead.
“Your order will be ready in about 10 minutes”
“Thank you, hmm, where’s the woman bathroom”
“It is at the left of the entrance”
“Thanks
“Thank you, hmm, where’s the woman bathroom”
I feel like facepalming. I should have made a better plan or explained it better, but right now, there’s nothing I can do. Well, at least I can confirm he has something strange with his head.
“Hmm... it’s at the left of the entrance”
“Thank you”
I just bring him to the table.
…
Why is Chrys crying?
“Have you never eaten a hamburger?”
“Oh... so it’s called a hamburger. No, I’ve never eaten one. The only food I’ve eaten where things that come in a little package, they didn’t have any flavor, and as they were something like powder, they felt like eating dust.”
Wow, that’s something strange. Is he foreign?
“What’s the name of your parents?”
“Parents?”
“Yeah, you know... who takes care of you?”
“Ooh, they died.”
“Oh, sorry.”
“Don’t worry, I'm quite happy about it.”
Sorry... what!? Why would he be happy? Did they treat him bad? It maybe has something to do with his mental condition. I think it’s rude to ask how his parents treated him so I’ll abstain.
“Where do you live?”
“Uhm... right now, I suppose I don’t have where to live.”
“What?”
Did his parents leave him with nothing?
“Well, I mean, since my parents died yesterday, I can’t return to where I lived. The remaining ones would try to kill me.”
So not just his parents, probably all his family treated him bad. But... isn’t he exaggerating a little, why would they kill him?
“Thank you for the food.”
“Hey wait!”
“What happened?”
“Where do you plan to sleep?”
“I don’t know, maybe I’ll sleep with one of those people sleeping outside the buildings.”
Is he planning to sleep with some beggars? That coupled with his condition would be very dangerous. What if?... What if I ask him to live in my department? it’s big and it has a spare room. Since the rent is not that cheap, I've been searching for a roommate. No, that wouldn’t be right... well he is extremely good looking so if he lived in my department, it would make that ***** so jealous... besides he shouldn’t do anything inappropriate due to his condition.
“Do you... DO YOU WANT TO SLEEP WITH ME!... I MEAN, IN THE SAME APARTMENT.”
Oh no... I screamed that, now all the surrounding people is looking at us. It feels uncomfortable
“Yes.”
“What!? You won’t ask why!?”
“Well, since you told me, it would be bad from me to refuse.”
Well, that was... easy.
“Mm... well just come with me.”
What am I doing?

Fragments from the Wildlands
“Your first death is always the hardest.” Miguela was the third-born child of a well-off merchant family and knew from around the time she could speak that her life’s path was already decided. She was to become an Orator, as was Xandran tradition. However, Miguela had an affinity with the magikal arts and somehow found herself studying at the Academy. She did just enough to keep up with her studies but never found the motivation to apply herself and “reach her potential,” as her instructors often said. It was not that Miguela was uninterested in the arts. Rather, she knew her time at the Academy ultimately did not matter. Whenever Miguela returned home, she would become an Orator, and that would be that. Or so she believed until, one day, an opportunity appeared that would change her life. Miguela was offered the chance to join a research team tasked with a mission of the utmost importance to the future of the Five Kingdoms. She could not turn down the prospect of regaining control of her life and finally finding a purpose for herself. Of course, Miguela might soon discover that offers that appear too good to be true are usually fraught with lies. Welcome to Five Kingdoms of Cordizal! Question: What is the Five Kingdoms of Cordizal? I often get asked this type of question about my stories by friends, bloggers, and potential readers. The Five Kingdoms of Cordizal is a high-fantasy epic universe that is the setting for most of my stories. The foundation of the universe is its multicultural, multiracial setting with several sentient races attempting to carve their legacy and survive. The world is fully fleshed out and vibrant with a rich and mysterious history not based on Tolkien mythology. This brings me to magic. To me, magic is an essential part of the fantasy genre, so, of course, there is magic in the Five Kingdoms universe. However, one critical part of the Five Kingdoms universe is that magic is an abundant commodity that is a part of everyday life and not some plot device used to drive the story. In short, the Five Kingdoms universe is the setting of epic fantasy stories with deep characters and world-building. I try to tell as many different types of stories as possible in the universe, and hopefully, you can find something for you in it.

Dungeon Crawler Darryl
In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth--from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds to all the trucks and cars--collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The fruits of millenia of human progress, atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot. A dungeon so enormous, it circles the entire globe. Presented with impossible situations, dire straits, an empty promise of regaining their planet or the fame of intergalactical stardom, thirteen million of the remaining humans entered this dungeon. This death trap with glamorous gore and way too many bugs. Only a few of them truly matter, the top most popular crawlers such as the ill-pantsed Carl and his elegant mistress Princess Donut. This story isn't about such glorious people, however. This story focusses on one of the dregs overlooked by the masses as they try to cling on to their life. This is the story of Darryl and friends. Note: This is a Dungeon Crawler Carl fanfic. Please support and read the original, it's really good!

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.

Raul The Reality-Reshaper
Raul Medrano had believed he was a normal human his entire life until the day he turned 21. The night before his 21st birthday he had a strange dream and acquired something dubbed a "system" that swore it would help him adjust to his status as a "higher being" and a "reality reshaper". And so began Raul's life as an immensely powerful adventurer who has and uses a variety of powers to change his world, and the grander omniverse for the better. This story features an overpowered protagonist who meets and faces off against other overpowered entities, but it begins with the protagonist in a small world where he swiftly becomes one of the big dogs so conflict, in the beginning, isn't going to be especially challenging. This story also mixes elements from my own distinct setting, the multiverse in which "A Solitary God" takes place, with elements from the settings created by people over on the NSFW CYOA (Choose your own adventure) subreddit, such as TroyxPage, and specific CYOAs such as "Goddess of Mankind" and "Love Azathoth" into one distinct, wholly original story. When relevant I'll post links to the CYOAs a chapter references in the author's notes section. Image credit: I got the image for the cover from Pixabay. This story was posted originally on ScribbleHub and will continue to be posted both there and elsewhere.

The Tutorial is in Chinese
The bad news: The Apocalypse is here, and I, Alex Lin, am stuck in China. The good news: I got some kind of phone app that allows me to summon beings with cool abilities The worse news: Everything in the app, including the tutorial, is in Chinese, which I can't f*cking read. Other protagonists' greatest obstacles are either other people or themselves. My greatest obstacle? The language barrier. (crossposted on webnovel)
