《Zero Sanity》Test 9: Die

"Ah!"
"..."
"This isn't what it looks like!"
"Uhh, then what is it then?"
I guess I wasn't the only one that was thinking of looking in here. After opening the door, I saw Jane, standing inside.
"Wait, no! Anyway, you shouldn't be asking me this, why the hell are you here too?"
"Same reason as yours, I was just curious. Why are you so scared, anyway? This room isn't even restricted."
"Look, this isn't restricted, but one of us just got killed because of this room, so I thought that I'd see it for myself and make myself useful for once. Also the thought of becoming a hero and then helping everyone escape, while dying heroically makes my mind meeeelltttt~."
"What. Then why didn't you die in place of Paul?"
"Dude, that won't be a sacrifice, that would be a double murder."
I guess my first impressions of her were wrong. She's nuts, but she managed to conceal it from us. I'll deal with her later, first, I need to know what's the deal with this room.
"Hey, are you done staring at that wall yet?"
The room was unnatural. I don't know why I haven't noticed but there was nothing inside the room. It was painted in yellow, and it's like one of those rooms from a mental hospital. There was nothing, except a painting of a girl. The painting itself was creepy, but there was a message that was above the painting.
- WHAT'S ON 4+no5 -
"HEY, ARE YOU DONE STARING YET!"
(Startled) "Huh, what! Y-yeah!"
"Ok, now look above the painting! There's a message there but I can't seem to figure it out. Have you seen it?"
"Yes. I definitely saw it when you told me that there was a message. Oh wow, how could I not miss that big text in red above the painting."

"Oh, shut up. I haven't figured it out, mind helping me, smartass?"
4+no5...
This is child's play. There's no math involved here, the letters were just upside down. 4+no5 upside down is "South", now it should look like "What's on south?", heavily implying that there is something above, or below the door that I came in, which judging from the direction of the painting, the door was in the south.
"Hey, I thought you were smart! Come on, don't leave yet, I thought you're going to find out the "Truth"? Hahahahaha, Well, don't worry, if I can't figure it out, then that means-"
*Click*
I pressed the button just above the door, and I smirked at Jane as the painting opened.
The painting stored a picture and a gun. I can't describe it, but it's like a house. The picture was seriously fucking dark, seriously, why would you even take a picture if you won't even show what the hell is in it.
Behind the picture, there was a note:
- Have you ever heard of Russian Roulette? You have to put one bullet on the gun, and aim the gun on your head. The next place will open if you play it. Use the gun next to picture, Xoxo- Skin. -
...
"Heeey, Jane, look what's written on the picture!"
"..."
"Nah, I won't do it."
"What, why not? This is the heroic sacrifice you were talking about."
"Yeah, but I don't want to commit a suicide, I won't go to heaven~!"
"Then I'll hold and fire the gun for you! Just joking, I wouldn't kill someone."
"Do we really need to play though?"
Wait, do we?
There are no cameras here, and I couldn't hear anyone inside earlier when I was outside the room, so how will Skin find out that we we're playing?

"Well, I hope this works."
I aimed the gun on the painting, and I slowly pulled the trigger, then-
*Bang!*
Jane was dumbfounded.
There wasn't a bullet that came out. Instead, a flag came out with another note written on it:
- Hahahaha, seriously though, go east. -
*Sigh*
I feel like Skin is just making us go in a wild goose chase, but I decided to go right anyway. There was another button, but this time, it opened a door. The door leads to a long hallway.
"Hey, hey, this is creeping me the hell out."
"Shut up. I'm already here, I'm going to find out the truth."
I walked towards the hallway, while Jane was scared and was clinging to me. In the hallway, I smelled something really bad, like something rotten. I don't know what the hell is it, though, I haven't remembered a smell like this.
At the end of the hallway, there was a door and a book. The smell also kept growing stronger, but it didn't bother me, because I was so intrigued about the book and the door. I opened the book, and saw records. Criminal records. Why the hell did Skin put it here?
I skipped through the pages. The crimes were just getting worse and worse, and I didn't care, I just wanted to know why this is here. I carelessly flipped through the pages, and noticed a key at the very end. Then, just 1 page before it, I was dumbfounded.
- Paul Sanders, 17
Case: Third Degree Murder -
And at the bottom, there was a red text, similar to the one on the painting. It says:
- For more information, please use the key at the end and unlock the door. xoxo -
"What, this is fake, right, Ken?"
"..."
"Ken?"
"I don't know.. Was he.. lying?"
"I doubt it, we all remembered a single event, right? And if he was really a murderer, he would've killed us way back on the 1st game. But instead, he just wimped out and followed Jest. That wasn't really the face of a murderer back there, so this is definitely fake."
"Yeah.. I guess you're right."
"Right? Now let's go open up that door!"
"Yeah."
The door lead to a PC and a fridge, placed behind the PC.
I turned it on, and saw a video file. It showed a police interview, and Paul was there, sitting on a chair. The video didn't give any information, and it just stopped when the investigator finally spoke. Weird. I think there are more video files but they were all deleted.
Did Paul do it?
Anyway, I turned the PC off, and the smell just kept growing stronger and stronger so I got curious. Jane was also bothered by it, so she called me to open it.
Opening it made me think that this was some kind of fucked up joke.
"What.. WHAT THE FUCK!"
The fridge contained a head, a head that was already rotting, and body parts that we're also rotting.
What the fuck..
What the actual fuck is this..
I threw up, and Jane was shaking and tripped on a light switch.
In the wall, there was a red text.. similar to the ones that I've read before. Only this time, this wasn't a prank..
- This has been fun and all, but now you know your past, and I have no use for you anymore.
Time to suffer the same fate, Paul -

Candor: The Forgotten House
*** Please read note below *** As a 16-year-old mage from a powerful family, Jayce Candor had known from a young age what his future would hold. As the fourth son in his family the possibility of him becoming the heir to the household was very small. But, with his talent as a mage, his potential accomplishments in the military could lead to titles of nobility and political power. However, on what would otherwise be an unremarkable night, everything he had ever known, the only people he ever cared for, and all of the plans for his future were destroyed. House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. By imperial decree, all those bearing the name Candor were hunted down and executed as traitors of the Empire. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

Trailblazer
The story of a man who accidentally wrote another world into existence. Everyone breaks away from their mundane daily life in one way or another. Our protagonist, an unfortunate consequence of circumstance, being no different, often escaped the harsh reality of life by writing stories of an alternate world of swords and magic. Though he recognized the difference between reality and fantasy, he could've never imagined what would happen, when the line between the two blurred as lightning struck down from the skies, and his escapism fantasy became all too real... After he came to, he would soon learn that things in the other world aren't quite as he remembered them to be. The world he wrote of had become but a shadow of its former self. Albeit hesitant at first, he sets off on a quest to find out the secrets behind the Trails, yet even then, he can't help but wonder... Can he really bring his world back to its old glory? —————————— I have never written a story before in my life and now I'm doing so in a language I don't natively speak. Groundbreaking quality is probably not something to be expected, but I do my best to keep things readable. With the necessities out of the way, both constructive criticism and other suggestions are very much welcome, and I'll do my best to take them into account when writing future chapters.
