Qi Lian ran back to the building holding Clayton and Darnell.
"Clayton you have to come down now!" Qi Lian hurriedly exclaimed.
"OK, I was about to take another shot, but I am coming. What is the hurry anyway?" Clayton asked.
"Han Xin is not here and we need to find him NOW! I don't know what he is planning but it can't be good." Qi Lian explained.
Clayton came down from the roof as quickly as his aging body would allow him. Darnell was making his way down even slower, naturally. Night had fully descended and the only light left was from the moon. This made getting down from the roof even more challenging, but both Clayton and Darnell managed to do it.
"Where the hell do you think he is?" Clayton asked.
"I really don't know Clayton. But we need to figure it out fast." Qi Lian said.
Qi Lian looked down at her watch now. She flicked the face of it, bringing up her communicator, using it to call Jeffrey.
"Jeffrey what direction is that car heading in?"
"It is heading south still." Jeffrey replied.
"South, why would Han order these soldiers to go south. Undoubtedly they are going to wherever it is that Han has gone. But where would he go?" Qi Lian thought out loud.
Qi Lian began to pace for a moment, clearly deep in thought.
"Fort Tilden. That is where Han is going, Fort Tilden." Qi Lian said to Clayton.
"How could you possibly know that?" Clayton wondered.
"Remember when I told you that we had a spy in Han's inner circle?" Qi Lian asked.
"Uh, yeah, sort of, I guess." Clayton responded, straining to remember.
"At one point in time the spy had come to us and mentioned Fort Tilden. She told us that she had overheard part of a conversation but not the whole thing. The thing that stuck out in her mind from the conversation was Fort Tilden. She said it was mentioned several times. I would bet my life on it, that is where Han is heading." Qi Lian said.

"What could he possibly want in Fort Tilden though?" Darnell asked, now interested in the conversation.
Qi Lian looked down at her watch. After fidgeting for a moment she pulled up a picture of the old fallout shelter and showed it to Clayton and Darnell.
"Same thing we wanted when we came to Plattsburgh." Qi Lian answered.
Qi Lian looked around now, searching the sky. She could see a few drones flying around. That was something she hadn't seen the entire time she had been in the area. She knew that meant Han was long gone. He wouldn't want to chance being caught on a drone camera.
Finally she saw what she had in mind.
"Let's go, get in the car." Qi Lian ordered.
Clayton and Darnell jumped in one of the SUV's the Code Blue soldiers had ridden in. Qi Lian got in the drivers seat. The moment she was in she slammed her foot on the gas pedal, causing the electric vehicle to accelerate at terrifying speed.
"Are you going to chase them down with this car?" Clayton asked.
"No, that isn't fast enough Clayton. We need to be in Fort Tilden as soon as possible." Qi Lian responded.
"OK, so how do you propose that we get there faster than we could now?" Clayton asked.
"Just trust me will you? Haven't you learned by now that I make these things work?" Qi Lian said with a smile.
"OK, I know you know what you are doing. But sometimes I would like to know what you are doing too." Clayton shot back.
Darnell reached into his pocket and produced his handheld radio. He flicked a switch to turn it on.
"Are you serious right now pops?" Clayton asked.
"What? I just wanted to hear the news." Darnell answered.
"You are living the biggest God damn story right now. You already know the news first hand!" Clayton exclaimed.

"Shh, just let me listen, it helps to soothe me. OK son?" Darnell said.
"You are the only person on the planet who feels soothed when listening to the news." Clayton replied.
"Shhh." Was Darnell's response.
"...There appears to be another terrorist related event in Plattsburgh New York tonight, following a bombing in the area earlier today. Reports of smoke rising from Valcour island near the historic lighthouse have been made. Residents of the area have told us they have heard explosions and gunshots coming from the vicinity. People are afraid to leave their homes. We have attempted to contact the..."
"OK, OK you were right son." Darnell said turning off the radio.
"I AM living the biggest news story of the day." Darnell continued.
Clayton shook his head in frustration.
Qi Lian continued moving through the town at a frightening pace. But she slammed on the breaks when she saw an ambulance pulling into the hospital. To Clayton's surprise she turned the SUV toward the hospital as well.
"OK, I am sorry, I can't just trust anymore. Please explain to me exactly what kind of transportation we are going to get at the hospital. An ambulance?" Clayton asked, incredulous.
"Something much better than an ambulance Clayton. Come on!" Qi Lian exclaimed.
The three passengers exited the vehicle and headed toward the hospital. They saw a person being rushed from the ambulance inside, with no outwardly apparent injuries. Just then they saw another set of people running out of the hospital, with a different patient. Qi Lian began to follow these people.
"Come on Clayton, with me, try to keep up." Qi Lian said.
"Have you forgotten that my father and I have no chance of keeping up with you?" Clayton yelled as Qi Lian became increasingly far ahead of them.
"What in the hell is she doing? Has she lost it?" Clayton asked Darnell.
"I don't know son, but I think she has earned our trust don't you?" Darnell replied.
The two ran and they began to hear an increasingly loud noise. As they got closer it became apparent what the noise was coming from.
"She can't be serious pops." Clayton said.
"Oh I think she is plenty serious son." Darnell responded chuckling a bit.
The two men stood before a helicopter. Clearly this helicopter was meant to airlift a patient to a hospital with superior medical services. But obviously Qi Lian had other plans.
When the men got closer they could hear Qi Lian talking.
"You need to send your troops to Fort Tilden NOW!" Qi Lian screamed into the communicator before hanging up.
"Are you coming or not?" Qi Lian asked as Clayton stood by the door.
"But what about the patient?" Clayton asked.
"Is it one life or billions of lives you are more worried about?" Qi Lian replied.
"If you had chosen the billions I wouldn't be alive right now." Clayton answered.
"That is true, but I think that the hospital can manage keeping this person alive until they can get another transport." Qi Lian said.
Clayton and Darnell got into the helicopter.
"Where is the pilot?" Clayton asked looking at Qi Lian.
"You are staring at her." Qi Lian quipped.
"Jesus they really did teach you everything in China." Clayton said.
Qi Lian laughed and took ahold of the controls. Then the helicopter lifted gently off the ground and they were on their way.

Magnus
Updates daily at 23:06 UTC. 2/1/2021 NOTE! This trilogy is being published by Aethon Books starting with book one on 5/1/2021. All books have been removed from RoyalRoad. This story was posted on RR in its entirety before being removed. Magnus Cromwell kills for a living. He’s organized, professional, efficient. Like a machine. But when his family’s life is on the line? That’s something else. That calls for the kind of warm-blooded vengeance that scorches earth and summons tungsten rods from space, leaves a whole lot of melted flesh, and no one to tell the tale. It should've been a blue milk run. As by-the-book as it gets. With his sister Nina out safe and the opposition decimated by hypersonic gunfire, MC wondered where they got the guts to even try. Then something hits him. Lays him out cold, and leaves him waking up to a fantasyland with nothing but his armor and a half-written note to guide him. It's a strange place where even stranger predators eye him for their next meal. Where his life’s on a timer, and where the darkest horrors haunt his dreams, painting visions of death. There's no right day to mess with Magnus Cromwell. But the universe sure managed to pick the absolute worst one. --- - MC is stone-cold, strong(OP), and gets even stronger, but he'll still face his fair share of challenges, both internal and external. - LitRPG-lite. No stats and an unconventional system. Expect abilities and progressions, but there will only ever be a handful of them. - Science Fiction and Fantasy collide, with a touch of mystery, Lovecraft, and body horror. - Professionally painted art scenes! - This series is finished. A Huge thank you to RoyalRoader MikeWe for the banner, and to NoDragons for his help editing the synopsis. Roll for Initiative
Jonathan Johnson has lead a less than comfortable life. Just as things settle down, and things start looking up life has a funny way of sweeping you off your feet. Now Jon negotiates with creatures of yore, trains burgeoning adventurers, raises dragons, and fights off creatures intent to rip the very soul from his body. The worst part is the prophecy regaling him as some sort of evil monstrosity intent on destroying the world, but nobody told him that. ---- This story is a revamp of my original story with the same name. Characters, and plot are very different. I encourage people who dropped the story to give the new version a try. The Last 100
The bustling crush of humanity had become common place now, the cacophony of voices and the symphony of a city had become the song and dance of our species. But it was not always such, and return back to our more humble roots we did.The system had come, and it had stripped us bare. Sure it had given us a means to power, but at what cost. We were the last 100 left. Night was falling on the human race, it was a dark night, and it was cold. But go quietly we would not. We would make the world burn with an inferno of our defiance. Rage, rage against that goodnight, and I Jack Casser, have rage a plenty. This is my story, the story of the last 100.Author Note: This story is a LitRPG apocalypse, woah fucking original idea I know but hear me out. If you can look past preconceived ideas driven by a stigma of overdone tropes and done to death plots of achieving world domination and self-righteous characters and give the story a chance I hope it can surprise you.
