《Rising of the Red Tide》Chapter 5 (Part 1)

"You will never get away with this! Our military is too strong and you will be crushed!" Shouted President John Miller.
Miller was relatively young for a President of the United States, being in his late 40's, and his two years in office to this point had allowed him to keep his color in his light brown hair. A few specks of gray cropped up here and there over his head, but mostly the color was left in tact. His face was always clean shaven, his build was slender, he stood about 6 foot 4 inches and he had gained a reputation as a great orator. He had also gained a reputation in his inner circle of being quite stubborn.
"Oh but Mr. President, I already have gotten away with this, you just don't seem to know it. In any case after seeing the pathetic fight your secret service agents put up, I am not worried at all about your mighty military. Isn't it supposed to be the best of the best protecting you?" The man said mockingly.
"What is your name soldier?" Miller asked in a brusque manner.
"You may call me Han Xin. And I will tell you what you are going to do. You are go..."
"I do not take orders from YOU! I place the orders around here."
"Please be silent Mr. President" Han said as his two lieutenants grabbed Miller by the arms. They were fully prepared to forcibly silence him if he chose not to himself.
"What you are going to do is go on television and tell the American people that there was an attack on the White House by a well armed and trained militant group from Russia. Whil..."
"What makes you believe that I..." John Miller said before being muffled by the hand of one of the individuals guarding him.
"I will tell you what will make you do it, you fool! Bring out the hostages!" Han said becoming quite impatient.

Han's people entered the room bringing with them President Millers wife, his son and daughter and his parents. All of the people who were the closest to him in the world. Miller called his parents every single morning before starting his days work. He had a very close relationship with them. However this morning they had not answered, and though that was rare it did happen occasionally so he had thought nothing of it.
"You see Mr. President, it appears there is quite a gap in information between us. I know everything about you, but you know nothing about me. But know this, what happened to your pathetic security force will happen to these people standing before us if you do not do as I say. DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW?" Han shouted, with his impatience growing.
Miller still muffled by a quite strong hand nodded his head yes.
"So as I was saying before you so rudely interrupted, you will go on television, every major network, and declare that your secret service members defeated the Russian aggressors. Furthermore you will assure the American public that they are safe and should go about their daily lives normally. The will need your assurance. And finally you will tell them that you are meeting today with members of Congress to discuss what you know about the Russian aggressors. You will make it clear to them that it is still unknown whether this was an act ordered by the Russian state, or if it was simply a terrorist group. Do you understand?"
Miller again nodded yes.
Then Han positioned himself right next to Miller's ear and proceeded to whisper.
"Any attempt to say anything off script and you and your family will be wiped off the planet. Do you understand?"
Miller gave another nod.
Han walked over to Miller's young boy and knelt down to look him in the eye. Erik was a small boy, a bit short for his age but his build matched that of his parents, he was quite lean. He spent a lot of his time out of school playing sports already at his young age and truly enjoyed it. He had light brown hair, matching his dad's but hazel eyes, matching his mom's.

"You leave him alone you SON OF A..." Joni Miller said.
"No need for obscenities Mrs. Miller I simply would like a word with the boy."
Joni Miller was tall standing at 6 feet. She had long blonde hair which she kept straight. She also was quite tough, in fact she had served in the military with her husband. She shared John's stubbornness and was frequently defiant when she felt she was right.
"He is deaf, but don't you already know that Mr. know it all?"
Han stood up and tried not to give off a slight sense of surprise.
"Why of course I knew Mrs. Miller." Han said as he began signing to the boy.
Han signed "How old are you?"
To which Erik signed back "I am 7 years old."
Han then signed "Do not worry, soon your life will be back to normal."
Which Erik responded with "My dad is going to hurt you."
Han stood up shocked at the strong rebuke of the young boy.
"Fools, all fools in this room. Someday your stubbornness will be the death of you. Get the President prepared for his press conference!" Han shouted.
Just then 10 of Han's soldiers entered the room and began setting up equipment, while Joni signed to her son "Good boy Erik."
Han left the room and his two lieutenants followed, handing the President off to two other soldiers. Upon leaving the room they began to chat with Han quietly.
"Sir are you not concerned about the President?" Qi Jiguang, the male lieutenant asked.
"Qi Jiguang have they gotten the codes yet?"
"Yes sir, in fact I have them right here."
"Then what is there to worry about?"
"What if the President is able to alert the public?" Qi Lee, the female lieutenant asked.
"It is of no concern to us. By the end of the press conference we will already be on our way. Has the team left for Russia yet?"
"Yes sir, they left an hour ago." Qi Lee responded.
"Good and what of the team that assaulted the NSA, they were late getting here."
"Well sir, they lost 8 soldiers." Qi Jiguang answered.
"8 soldiers?"
"Yes sir 8, I guess some people were able to put up a fight." Jiguang said.
"No Qi Jiquang, this was not the work of average people, this has the stench of the program all over it. I knew when we couldn't find them this is where they had gone, did I not?"
"Yes sir." both lieutenants answered in harmony.
"It is of no matter, they have no chance of stopping the plan, but we will send out a search party. No, I will lead the search party to find them. We will have our revenge for the poor doctor and our 8 fallen soldiers!"
"Aye sir, who would you like me to gather?" Qi Lee queried.
"Bring me the best 25 soldiers, and you two will be going with me as well. I need my best people for this job. As for the rest of them have them continue with all prongs of the plan as normal. Have you heard from the group in China?"
"Yes sir, they reported no issues." Qi Jinguang answered.
"Good, very good. Now go and gather me all video evidence from the NSA attack. We will track those traitors down!"

Ocean Attuned - A timeloop LitRPG
In the mids of industrialization, Liana, a girl of almost twelve, awakens her flow and follows her newly awakened calling, the ocean, and thus the path of the last remaining god. With the advent of industry, one's status and the accompanying skills slowly grow to be secondary as people choose more recreational skills and classes. The clear exception are flow bringers. Humans with an increased affinity towards flow and attunements are the only real remnants of the age of gods and mysticism. Terrors on the battlefield, saints in hospitals, saviours during drought, are just some examples of the wonderous abilities they display. As civilization grows less dangerous so does the stress that is often associated with the awakening of the flow reduce and only the real talents remain. Please be aware that this is a first draft at best. Tag/Genre analysis: Action: A theme that will appear in the story at some point (probably 15+ chapters in) Adventure: Yes Fantasy: Yes Magic, Beasts, and other fantastical elements are totally at home here. Tragedy: Life is not always fun. For what is fun when there are no downsides. I don't know how heavily I am going to lean into this genre. I want to but don't expect too much. Loop: Yes, though I will not divulge anything else. Just be aware that there isn't nearly as much looping as in MoL for example. Female Lead: Yes, Liana is female. Dungeon: Yes, there are dungeons. Yes, they will get explored. LitRPG: Yes, read the first chapter if you want an example. Magic: most definitely because who doesn't like calling lighting down from the heavens. (Disclaimer: No actual lightning will be called down from the heavens) Mythos: There are gods. So maybe, I don't know if that is enough to qualify? Progression: yes Slice of Life: There is plot, and the story will mostly be about that plot, but there will also be downtime because there can't always be action. The first "loop" especially the first 20-30 chapters will be heavily SoL. And afterward there will be a lot less. Profanity: The ocean (see title) includes sailors and we all know how the stereotypical sailor is. Gore: Hmmm, some but I will have it be not graphic at all.
