《Cultivation by Damon》Chapter 5: No longer human, What am I?

Damon walked behind Malina king, as he recounted everything that happened yesterday, of course he made sure to hide the fact that his little sister was a vampire.
Because he was briefed by the old turtle before, that Cultivators generally frown on wizards, tolerate dwarfs, goblins, fairies and other tiny creatures. But they draw the line when it concerns supernatural creatures like Vampires, Werewolves, etc. Their relationship akin to that of oil and water.
they don’t mix.
Malina king listened to everything, her expression lukewarm as she walked towards the mountain behind the Martial clan’s manor. A beauty with light blue hair practiced with a thin sword on the fighting stage.
“Our cultivation world is called Romma. In the world of Romma, Women always have double the units of an average male so if a male has 50 units in 1st cultivation realm, then a woman will have 100 units in the same realm. Damon, we know you have 98 units; comparable to a woman in the same cultivation realm. That’s why I think you should practice with Sky. She’s in the first level of Clear realm too.”
Malina king stepped aside to adjust the stage through her floating screen. Damon looked at the blue haired tall beauty. Sky stepped forward as she sheathed her sword. With a shake of hands, she introduced herself.
“Good morning big brother Damon. Let’s get acquainted on a first name basis, I’m Sky Kindle. You can call me, Sky. I’m here to train with Maggie. So, we’ll be seeing each other often. And yes, you look more handsome than they described.”
Damon smiled, “I’m Damon…Silverhouse. You can call me Damon. Thank you, but no matter how handsome I look, I don’t think I can compare to a beauty like you.”
The compliment made Sky giggle. Malina king’s voice drifted from the front.
“The stage is ready. You guys can spar now. Sky dear, no need to hold back. Although he doesn’t know any techniques. He has a stronger foundation and his body is stronger than yours. Damon, use this spar to acquaint yourself with how cultivators fight. Hopefully this will help you realize your path.”
Many bright faced teenagers started gathering around. Sky Kindle was a tall slender beauty, who had many boys dreaming about her. Being talented made her well known among young girls too. They all sat under the shade of the tall tree. Their gaze riveted as Sky made her first move.
“Drop him, Miss Kindle!” A brave kid managed to let out a slightly loud cheer of support.
Damon cocked an eyebrow, as he played around with the wooden sword.
‘Guess she’s popular.’
Sky traced a trained curve through the air with her sword. Grinning as she pinned the hilt near her chest, the sword hiding away her small, curvy nose. She asked, “Let’s make this interesting, shall we? Every time I land a hit, you will have to truthfully answer one of my questions.”
Damon smiled in return, “And the time I land a hit successfully? You’d answer one of my questions?”
“A trained cultivator against a newbie? I doubt that will ever happen but if it helps you put on those big boy pants then alright!”
Damon spread his feet as he clutched the sword with two hands. Soon clear dull sounds could be heard each time their swords clashed. Damon always went offensive completely giving up on defense when Sky drew too near to his body. Sky always ends up defending herself and as a result misses her chance to land a decent hit.

“Not bad for a newbie, Big brother Damon. Be careful, I’m not going to hold back any longer.”
Sky placed her foot firmly in front of her. A faint pinkish glow spread out her fists, slowly covering the entire length of her wooden sword. A fast strike bypassed Damon’s slow defence and landed squarely on his chest. Damon took 2 steps back, a slight tinge of pain at the point of contact.
Sky looked impressed, “You do have a strong foundation. Anyone else would have taken 5 steps backwards or landed on his bum to the floor.”
“How did you do that?”
“You’ll know, when you actually manage to land a hit on me. (Winks her left eye) Just kidding, but hey! you should answer one of my questions, first.”
Damon nodded at her. Taking deep breaths to dull the pain in his chest.
“That was a “Clear lotus draw” martial arts technique by the way. I heard you’re a human. But, don’t worry, Master King will explain everything to you later. As my first question, I’d love to know what humans do when they are free from school work. Do they practice martial arts? Or do they prepare for exams like the ‘Hunt’ we have in a few days?”
“Neither. Although I guess some do workout to grow physically stronger. Most of us just play video games, go on a Date, surf the internet or play football, at least from where I’m from.”
“Good! I already have my next question. Are you ready to fight again?”
Damon took a deep breath as he secretly agitated himself by thinking about the ‘dark times’ in his life, since that was the only way, he knew how to bring forth the silver power within him.
The old turtle stopped ogling at Malina king; feeling jealous that it couldn’t transform into a floating screen so that Malina King could press him with her dainty little fingers. Instead, it narrowed its eyes at Damon.
‘Maybe this will help me understand more about it..’
Damon could feel the air changing around him but before he could do anything Sky executed the same move. Damon hardly lasted 2 seconds before the sword landed on his chest.
“That was a great execution of ‘clear lotus draw’ Miss Kindle. You’re awesome!”
Damon almost rolled his eyes, these guys were trying too hard.
“I’m sorry, this feels like I’m bullying you. Should we stop?”
Damon grunted as he shook his head. “Ask the next question.”
Sky looked impressed. “Okay, so what’s a date?”
Damon once again tried to stir his silver power as he gave a vague answer.
‘I mean, this girl looks popular, I don’t want to get into needless trouble, for being too ‘Ambitious’.’
“Date is an appointment where 2 people get together to discuss on a topic usually over a course of meal or a leisure activity that they are both fond of.”
Sky’s eyes twinkled as she said excitedly, “We have that too! We call it a ‘squirrel’ This brings me to my next question. Will you go out on a Da---”
“You can make that question after you’ve landed another hit on me.”
Damon began to sweat as he thought, ‘I almost walked right into that one.’
Which made him recall being mentioned that Sky had the most knowledge about humans than anyone else. This made him wonder whether this blue haired doll was actually plotting to make him go on a date with her. Damon watched as Sky hid a small smile at the corner of her lips, which confirmed his suspicion.

Damon said nothing as he had already stirred up the power inside him. A wave of strength rolled off his body as his eyes grew silver. And the white light fell on his rich black hair and shoulders.
Damon looked bewitchingly closer to an angel from heaven, in this form which managed to collect many amazed and surprised cries from the crowd below. The air around Damon twisted, as Sky felt like she was being watched by a hungry and powerful beast.
Malina king herself looked surprised as if this was the first time, she had witnessed Damon’s transformation. The old turtle continued to observe the situation, while sneakily stealing glances from Malina.
Sky once again deployed Clear lotus draw. This time using all her strength, since her intuition urged her to use all her strength against this transformed Damon.
The faint pink glow covering the wooden sword seemed to contract giving the dark wooden sword an otherworldly pinkish glow. A faint image of a pink lotus floated behind Sky.
“She actually managed to manifest intent! How can she accomplish this within the clear realm? And that too at the first level!” A shout broke away from the hue and cry of the crowd.
“Manifesting intent requires hallow realm! An entire realm above the Clear realm!”
“Damon! I’m not going to hold back any longer!”
Accompanying the shout was a shadow of a figure moving quickly against the wind. The blunt tip of the sword struck towards Damon’s chest. If this hit landed, Damon would be heavily injured and bedridden for many months.
Malina King tensed to stop the fight at the first sight of injury. While the old turtle exclaimed. “This little flower isn’t ruthless enough to kill. But is still filled with thorns.”
Damon’s silver eyes looked eerily at Sky, as the sword landed. A dull sound accompanied a cloud of smoke. Everyone felt their heart still in their chest.
“He’s finished!”
“Ai! Salute brother. He was so dashing. After this he’ll become a sleeping beauty.”
All kind of remorse and condolence stopped mid-way when the dust settled. Damon was holding on to the wooden sword with his fingers. Damon was still looking at Sky unfazed. The sword struggled under his grasp to no avail.
Malory king and the old turtle looked surprised. Which only grew as they saw Damon’s sword being crushed to pieces within his left hand.
Silence gripped the platform as everyone witnessed the scene with shock and astonishment at the impossible scene before them.
Damon extended his hand towards Sky’s head. Sirens blew in Sky’s head as her intuition warned her not to be touched by Damon. Abandoning the sword, Sky rushed backwards. But before she could do anything, Damon moved quickly towards her and held her firmly by the neck. Malina finally moved as she ‘weighed down’ on Damon to stop him.
Damon stilled, but carried on a little later as if nothing happened. The fingers wrapping around Sky’s neck bound her tightly as they began to suck a white shadow from her. Sky immediately palled.
Malina and the old turtle panicked, this was not something they foresaw. Damon was unexpectedly sucking Sky’s soul! Let alone the fact that they’ve never seen such bizarre ability before. They were also worried for Sky. Any kind of damage to the soul at such a young age would not only cripple a cultivator’s ability to reach higher realms in the future, but also cut her lifespan short.
But Malina could do nothing but watch, as any forceful action would jeopardize both Damon and Sky’s lives.
As a guide the old turtle had more knowledge about the world of Romma. And he knew whatever was happening was unnatural and downright evil. The old turtle rapidly went through everything it knew about Damon because it could see that Damon was acting on instinct and if given the choice Damon would never hurt Sky unprovoked.
“Damon, I know you can hear me. If you consume anymore of Sky’s soul. You will cripple her and downright kill her! This won’t stop. I’m sure your instinct must be urging you to consume more souls, who’ll be next, Damon? One of these people like Maggie, who took you in? who rescued you? Your master? Or….a much easier target…your sister Kate?”
In truth Damon was half delirious right now. This…whatever it was, was like crystal clear pure water to a very, very thirsty man. He’ll stop after drinking some water, but how many till he was satisfied? The old turtle was right. What if he went after an easier target like his sister?
‘Damn it! Why is my instinct on overdrive after hearing her name! Did the old turtle do it on purpose?!’
Uncontrollably, Damon looked towards their room and stilled. A little head framed by long black hair was staring at him through the window. Damon’s heart pounded in his chest as he stopped absorbing Sky. He took a step towards the little girl at the window. Something about his little sister’s soul was very attractive to him. It beckoned Damon’s hunger and promised to satisfy it. A low growl escaped his throat, as he began to slowly walk towards his sister with Sky in hand, Dragging the poor girl over the wet grass underneath.
Everyone was too scared to stop him, while Malina still tried in futile to stop him using her Divine sense. When it began apparent that no one was able to stop him, Damon began to sweat. Kate was his little baby. He would protect her against everyone in this entire universe let alone himself. He would do everything within his power and more if it meant keeping her safe.
‘Anything? Then…YES! ANYTHING!’
Damon glared as he bit on his right arm and began sucking his own soul. Damon felt pain akin to a white-hot flame searing his skin. Everything within him was screaming at him to stop, But Damon continued. He wouldn’t stop until he was unconscious or too damaged to attack his little sister. Damon’s will grew tougher with conviction, But also threatened to be swept aside from the constant waves of pain batting at his soul. Thankfully, His Silver eyes dissipated as both Damon and Sky fell to the ground with exhaustion.
A ripple passed through everyone’s eyes, as their expression turned peaceful. Everyone now looked at the ground where Damon and Sky lay, several feet away from the platform.
