《Ancestral World: Memorial Clouds》Chapter 8

[Arc II-Royal Hunt]
The date was 20th April 2209.
The day was Saturday.
The time was 12:23 p.m.
I really wanted to rest today but because of this damn loud dude who dragged me out of my comfort zone where I was enjoying my TV program. Yes....He was called Johnny Spectre, the damn idiot.
Right after he asked me about it, he instantly brought me out.
"Oi! Oi! Oi! Sora! Why are you spacing out bro? We finally got to hang out!"
"Let me guess...Your previous friends that you were hanging around with left you because you're obviously obnoxious."
"A-A-A...Nope! Not at all! We are still hanging out!" He said with a very obvious tone that he was left out.
"*sight* Well then. What should we do?"
"ARCADE BABY!!" He shouted as he points at the sky.
Everyone was staring at us like a hindrance because of his constant shouting. It was really embarrassing. He had no sense of delicacy. When we were heading to the arcade, I was suprised that I saw Rika at an ice cream store looking so happy like a pure innocent kid.
She was cute as usual. We reached to the arcade and it was crowded. I was not surprised that it was crowded since it was a weekend.
"Yo dude. Wanna match?" He said with that shiny convident smile of his.
"A match? You mean like a competition?"
"Yes BabY! You got it. Whoever can get the most amount of Tickets wins a free dinner!"
"Wha-What!? Fre-Free dinner...This is something that I must not pass!"
"YEA BABY! Let's go! We shall meet again at the Rewards Station at 17:30. I shall be the winner!
"In your sweet dreams! I shall be the one who will win!"

(On 17:30, Rewards Station)
It was a struggle. I was desperate on getting the free dinner. I wanted it.....No! I needed it. I needed it so badly to the point that I took a lot of tickets away from the machines. Same goes for Johnny too but I had a lot of fun too.
"Panting I'm confident that I'm the one who is going to win this!" I said.
"Panting Yea right....It's obvious that I'm the winner of this match" Johnny replied.
"Then...we should let the arcade worker count them then!" I said.
The worker was counting both of our tickets while Johnny and I were staring at each other with the eyes of confidence and victory. A crowd had started to form and was looking forward on who was the winner because of our shouting before the match started.
We were doing that for five minutes straight and the worker had finished counting.
"Amane Sora......205667 Tickets..." Worker said.
The crowd was roaring and excited and some people were confident that I was the winner.
"Johnny Spectre.......205....6..6.....7...What?! 205667! Same amount of tickets with Amane-san!"
"HUH!?!?!" Johnny and I was confused and shouted in the same time.
"Well...that was unexpected but welcomed....Haha!"
"True....Can't believe my divine arcade techniques can't defeat you, Sora! Guess we have to buy each other our favorite food! Deal?"
"Sure. Why the heck not?"
I went to my favorite restaurant and bought Tonkatsu. I was worried about what will Johnny get for me but I guess I should put a little faith in him. We then met up at Electronic Dam Park.
We gave each other our food that we bought and sat down on a wooden stool that had a wooden table too.

"Tonkatsu huh! Woah Woah Woah Woah WOAH! SO BLOODY GOOD!"
"Can you stop shouting from anything? Well, it is my favorite food after all."
"Damn! You gotta tell me where you buy this...BUT! You have to open yours first!" Johnny said that with a very high level of confidence.
"Oh god! It smells so nice! I'm surprised that your favorite is Nikujaga."
"Heheh! Well, one of my main reasons for coming to Sakura Sea is because of this!"
"That's true. I heard this town Nikujaga is absolutely the best out of the entire Illiantius."
"Hm Hm! You sure do know!" Johnny said while having his mouth full.
".....Actually, Johnny?"
"Hmm? What is it dude?"
"Why exactly did you come here for? Your country is very far from here."
He looked at my expression for a while to check whether I was kidding or not but he took the hint that I was being completely serious.
"Sigh Where do I begin? I guess I can tell you about this since you're my one and only trusty friend..."

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized

Impossible Devices
Twenty years after the start of the new millenium, the world was largely at peace. Crime was at an all-time low in most nations. No large scale conflicts between countries currently existed, and the people of Earth had even begun to see hope for the future. In the year 2020, all of that changed. The first occurrences of the interdimensional reality altering zones occurred. Named 'Dungeons' these supernatural and alien existences unleashed monsters and mayhem upon the world. Only after considerable loss of life and adaptation to the new world order did people begin to rally back. The discovery of a strange artificact item in one of the dungeons allowed humanity to develop powers far beyond their wildest imagination. This device worked on principles considered to be impossible. It was not the only one. Items of super-science and magic were discovered inside the dungeons of the world that could not possibly work according to the known laws of physics. Yet, they did. A special school was built to train young people so that they could specialize in dungeon exploration, in the defeat of monsters and the acquisition of the Impossible Devices. Warning: Tagged as [18+] for mature content that includes Adult Situations, Sexual Situations, Graphic Violence, and offensive language. Further: This story is a work of comedy and parody. It is not designed to be a gloriously realistic story, even though there are a few deep themes and other mature concepts involved.
