《ELYSIA EROICA》Ch. IV - Change

Now that I come to terms with myself, little of what I once knew comes back to me naturally.
After the return of my parents, my emotions were set aside and their welcome was in a way, distasteful. Normally I would be glad to see them return, but there was something dormant within me that just brings a mild taste.
Things progressed as normal and we grew with each other again after some time. Yet in the beginning, my mind had already lost touch with the ones I called my parents.
Not saying I have no view of them in that respective manner, however, the memories that started pouring at once left me in disdain. I lived once, miserably and pitiful. This life was a given gift, from an unknown source that appeared with a white atmosphere.
Supposedly so, the entire class I attended had died at once due to an ongoing battle between rival forces in this world he brought us upon. Repulsive, no trust laid upon me on this individual compared to the rest of the class that came into terms of living anew. Now they are somewhere in this world living different lives such as myself.
It was the constant bullying and physical abuse that led me to live the pitiful life of a social reject. Lost communication with the outside world alongside the former people I once titled friends. Video games kept me away from all of it, and those voices I kept hearing before came from things I have come to create in such games. Monsters, demons, vampires, beasts, and so on with the nightmare that kept me alive and waiting to one day seek revenge on those who caused me chaos.
In all honesty, I hold no signs of seeking revenge at all or living the life of a countryside villager. In a way, something was seeking great power from me, that even I feared what I would be capable of in the future.
Then again, only time can tell what may lead upon the fate that awaits.
"Rise and shine."
Lifted from my heavy sleep, the morning light hit on my eyes. Mother had hold my hand as I moved out of bed and stepped into my leather sandals.
Mother had developed a large belly during and after their return from adventuring and only a few days remain until the baby is born. Nine whole months are about to pass from that day father and mother messed up in their little outing and returned home. Now I am three years old and soon enough the summer season will start marking the season for my younger sibling.
"What will you like to eat this morning?" She asked curiously.
Scratching my eyes awake, I turned around and smelled the sweet aroma that came from downstairs. Breakfast has already been served, and now she just wanted to make sure I would be okay with what she had made this early morning.
"Whatever is on the table, I will gladly eat it. I am not that picky unless it was something atrocious." I claimed.
On the kitchen table, there were four plates, each consisting of eggs and two pancakes which were different from the usual one piece of pastry and beefsteak. The drinks were milk, but as I developed an unwelcoming taste for it I had natural orange juice poured from the fruits themselves through mothers challenging work.
Father stepped in with a glass of liquor in denial of the glass of milk placed down for him on the table meanwhile Reya stepped in surprised by the workload done. Mother was pleased with everyone and sat us all down before sitting down herself.

"Is there a special circumstance for today madam? Have I done something wrong? Am getting fired?" Reya questioned the obvious for such a morning, for a maid at least.
"Not at all, seeing as how I am soon giving birth again, I just wanted to cook a small early feast for us. It is not much as I couldn't dare to endure such a high workload in a limited amount of time with this belly of mine."
Reasons understandable. We ate slowly and savored the breakfast made by mother meanwhile father had finished his entire plate and grabbed leftover pieces of steak.
"Mother is it alright if I go outside. It won't be too far off the village." I asked cautiously.
It has become a normal happening now, that I have been mistreated constantly by the villagers in the village. While several supported me in many ways, most of the rest detested me and my overall appearance and actions I dealt with them. I avoided fights but kept getting trashed with garbage and pebbles every once in a while.
It was getting old, but lately, they seem to be getting worse by the day.
"It's not that I don't want you to go. It's just that, hasn't it become scary for you to see the people outside of our home? Wouldn't you feel safer here?"
"I have no fear of such things mother. After all, I am the child of you and father, who are strong in many different ways." I clarified childishly.
Fear was no longer part of me much like in the original life I lived back then, and now in this new world, I strive to become better than anyone who neglects me. However, my path to such a future is unknown. Will I ever attain the type of future that I want or lead a different path in life that flows with the natural sense of this world?
I walked out of home with the breeze of summer coming in. The area was clear as nobody was around at the time to bring out misfortune upon me and my motives.
I left the village into a vast forest, with my destination being further inside in the vast and hidden area that remained surrounded by trees and large grass.
A large plot of land, with no trees to lay around nor bushes. Only flowers and natural plants grew from the land below and sprouted their beauty out into the earth. The sky was blue and bright, with the rays of the sunlight shining upon the flowers lighting up everything in this surface area.
"Now then, where was it again?"
I searched the area, looking for the familiar entrance underground that showed itself to me not too long ago from this day. Hidden from regular sight, in the vast chunks of land in the center of this forest a door small in size laid on the ground awaiting someone to find it. That, someone, was me.
"There it is."
The land below was dark, but torches were placed awaiting the fire that needed to lighten up the passage further into the ground. I entered casting away flames as I shot miniature ones into the tips of the torches as light shined upon the large corridors that illuminated within a short period.
The area I entered was enormous and scary, but the thrill is what kept me going even further from what I had originally intended to venture inside this hidden place. Paintings came right after, a gruesome scene in history unveiled showing the demons causing havoc in human territory spreading further into the world as they also gathered allies from around the globe.

"Laplace."
The Devil God of that time and the strongest being to exist in all there is to know of history. The cause of the first change in how the world used to work and led countless demon races into demise or victory. Sealed away by the hero, Victor Veingur V, also known as the Asura King of the past.
A floating castle, home of this hero that was passed down to each of his descendants after his cruel death of a final blow left by the unwavering devil-god.
"Huh?"
[Elysian's cast their magic into Victors Lineage, giving them the power to completely seal away Devil-god Laplace.]
The word was similar to my birth name, however, it demonstrated an image of dragons, angels, and other creatures dressed in white and with white bodies but not similar to the man I have seen before. These things known as Elysian's possessed great power, but what came of them afterward was a massacre.
Their power was feared and they were forced into hiding even if they aimed to coexist with the regular of humanity and countless other races. They were tortured, robbed of their powers, killed instantly, butchered, hanged, and much more. The world was cruel and only a few of the Elysians remained alive and secluded within different races of beings, but it was already known that they would never regain trust with humanity.
"This is.."
A visualization of an Elysian was the last thing to show. Their eyes were the things to gather my attention the most out of the whole historical information. Their eyes were all different in color, but they each had different colored rings in their iris. The thing that brought my attention to this was the similarity in my distinct eyes to everyone else. However, there was no official knowledge of mother or even father being part of Elysian's to confirm me to be such a thing.
Now that I think about it, weren't they once close to speaking of this back then?
"Grr."
A ferocious and crisp growl merged from within the corridors with even more sounds embarking the area as their laid things dormant that are now awakened deeper into this whole estranged place. The sound of sticks came to light as something drew closer more so many things grew closer.
Smoke appeared on the ground as the clinging sound of blades echoed in my ears and my body reacted as I cast a fireball and sent it out flying in the direction of the dark tunnel. Bones, skeletons, a large number of them roamed the corridors alongside demonic hounds small and large.
Further inside was a large door the size of a titan that only caused me panic as I slowly moved away but ended up tripping onto a rock that laid on the ground moments ago.
A loud clang popped on the side of my head as the large blade stuck to the ground nearly piercing my head apart if it had been inches more to the left. Getting up I rushed immediately to the top while the rushing sound of bones hitting upon each other echoed as they followed right behind.
Turning back, I could see that they were closer than I had intended to keep them away from my behind. Arrows began to appear as missing shots were released, only to block some of my steps from reaching the entrance quicker.
"Damn it!" My breath was exerted with trouble respirating the available oxygen.
I lifted my palm and prepared a spell that would most likely be beneficial at this given point.
[Water Surge]
A stream of flowing and waving water exited the palm of my hand, pushing my foes further back into the distance they originally came from. I on the other hand got pushed forward by the reflected impact as my exit proved to be positive rather than a negative.
A safe landing with the quick use of wind magic to create a form of cloud that kept me from hitting hard into the rough earth. After that, my instinct was to shut the entrance quickly before the monsters from inside made their quick leave in this direction and caused trouble for the village and my own family.
"That was a close one..." Left with a heavy and relieved sigh.
Relief from escaping such an unforeseen scenario. That was a close one, even I almost peed myself.
The sun was now set to noon, signifying how much time had passed inside the dark place filled with countless difficult monsters. My mood shifted instantaneously, from the happy thrill of adventure to the regular mood of the boring days of living.
The ground once more, rough in the edges of rocks and grass. The breeze of the air calmed me from the experience to a natural order. The sensation of my regular self returned as I would make my way home from the little venture I found myself in. Lifted suddenly and abruptly, I walked out of the field into the forest making my way back home hidden from the sight of the villagers.
With now a distinct change in the sky above that brought a gloomy sky to the land below as a sphere floating in the sky shining a vibrant red hue with crimson rings around it. It resembled a pool of blood, circulating inside the overall circle as it lit in the center of the sky.
There was nothing odd outside of that single object. However, the sense of earth changed somewhat from a peaceful subjugated land to one that is grim and filled with evil. Everything seemed normal but that small change of tone lifted the veil of an unforeseen change.
Everyone gathered in the center of the village with loud noises emitting from the center as the crowd spoke all at once causing the loudness. I hid from their sight as my ears sought their words even if it was to be a small fraction of what they come to speak.
"What do we do?"
"Is that sphere dangerous? Should we hide our children, what must we do to get rid of it."
The sphere triggered worry and a meeting amongst the entire village while my parents and Reya were left out. Most likely due to how far apart we were from the village as we were spread more southeast.
"What if it's the kids' fault? He is already a creep in the village."
"Tch."
There were several who opposed the way the majority of the village came to view me, but the majority is still a majority. The village was mixed overall, some despised my very existence others didn't mind having me around as much as the children. The ones my age shared the same ideology, either hate and look down upon me or come and join forces with me. Despicable.
"Now everyone, please calm down. I am sure the cause is very much the child with those hatred-filled eyes they harbor to god himself." Entered an old man in clergy apparel befitting of a priest.
His size was round and enormous, an ugly face filled with wrinkles of aging, alongside pimples overgrown and small as he feasted on a cooked pork leg. His presence calmed the village, as for me I only seemed to have a guard up for his whole entrance and claim of my evil attachments, as I have zero of them.
"I hear the demon has manipulated several children of this village and took them as subordinates in his tyranny against our rules. Truly a fiend to end immediately, am I right?"
His whole demeanor and speech were nothing but nonsense made up by a person seeking attention and honor despite the lies he commits to attaining that whole getup. The villagers were pleased with his claims and rallied together as they celebrated and honored the priest who stepped foot into the village.
There was nothing I would be capable of even to cause harm to others. Sure I developed intensely in magic and sword, but my magic abilities are only intermediate at best and my sword skills are only practical swings compared to actual combat-based abilities.
"Psst, this way."
A feminine voice rang from behind calling out to me like a secret passageway formed underground under a pile of logs that seemed to always had been there as decoration. I entered as the logs came down slowly without the notice of the villagers and the stairs lit a light that didn't reflect from candles or any other light source.
Was this magic as well?
I stepped down through the multiple steps that led deep into the underground only to find a shut door in the end. Made of pure gold and diamond crystals, it was opened ajar meaning it was free for me to enter the premises of this unknown individual.
Like a high-class building made specifically for royalty or nobility. As a library location filled with multiple floors filled with books, the center has a circular flooring that is lit by a large flame that seemed eternal.
"Our meeting was to be expected. Although I worried after didn't see you again playing the game we always spoke and interacted with one another."
The girl stood in the center removing the hood she wore to reveal a small girl with grey hair and silver-toned eyes. Her small stature had its reasons, and she carried around a wooden staff alongside robes that demonstrated her affinity for magic.
This girl was familiar, and from a distant memory right before the death that led me into this life. An NPC in a video game, or as I led myself to believe ever since that one single copy of a game, came into my possession.
"Impossible." I let out with intense pain in my chest.
The girl smiled gently and leaned closer. An aroma that always seemed to inhabit the player I was came into my nose after now I could finally get an actual pleasant smell out of it.
"It has been such a long time, Prince."
The title I had come to claim in the game, as I played the role of one's son. A dark ruler.
"That's right, Cardinal." Tears overflowed my emotions.
An elegant table on the sidelines of the very center with a kitchen on the other side of the doors. She stepped in again, carrying two glasses of tea as she placed one for me and the other for herself. She was small and unable to reach her seat, for the taller size it had but used wind magic to levitate herself upwards into our equal footing on the seats.
"This is strange, how is it that you and possibly the others are here in this world?" I asked, presuming she'd know the reasoning behind it.
"No, not even I know the reason. Yet your father, in-game, and his subordinates are nowhere in proximity even to reach a single contact. Perhaps only you and your subordinates have come upon these lands of this world, and by the looks of it this appearance is more befitting than what you mentioned so much of back in the past."
Our only form of conversation was small talk in a game, in which I shared my real-world appearance with her considering she shared an equal amount of intelligence with me. She, however, was not my subordinate but more of the supposed father.
"What about you, you look much more my age than I had last expected. Well more so considering I had reincarnated into this small form."
"W-well, I was created in the same way. With the loving touch of my parents, although I led my life into the darker paths of magic and became an eternal object that has zero forms of dying. That is why your father reached a proposal for me as the Guardian of this whole place, but that placement serves no visible purpose at this point. He is nowhere around, but, you are around and you share equal footing to the power and likelihood he had among the world."
Her words were true altogether, but the possibilities were small in receiving the similar powers I had to that game into this new world. Sure magic is a thing and so are the combat styles. Yet I never physically trained myself in those skills in reality as much as I did in the game.
Then again, what were my intentions in this world anyway? I never grasped myself into another goal other than advancing on in sorcery and the sword. Neither is there anything highly intriguing for me to attain such as an object or thing that belongs in this vast world? Not a single thing, yeah I can't decide on anything.
There is adventuring, but that alone may need motivation in advancing into higher ranks, fame, salvation, and so on. Something I plan to do one day, but that day is nowhere near the age I have set in mind.
"You are not my subordinate, so how come you reside in this world yourself?" I questioned realizing her subordination to the dark ruler of a father.
"I have little attachment to you father, as I do to you. Perhaps that may be the reason for my appearance into your life in this world."
"I see.."
Silence fruited the room and time passed faster than it did in the regular parts of the land. The sunset would set soon and my parents may worry if I do not return fast.
"I will see you again, my current family awaits my return." I stood my ground as I jumped off of the tall seat and marched into the golden door.
"Very well, I will await your return."
I gripped the doorknob intensely and jabbed it open and entered my room afterward as this door served as more of a teleportation device than a hidden passageway.
The sunset lit my room and the gloomy skies remained as my parents stood outside, father swinging his sword and mother tending to the laundry.
"Where are things escalating into?"
