《Chaos Sequence》Chapter 32: Not our problem

"What the hell is going on!" Screamed Dealer before Savage crashed into her on the way down.
Reaper managed to stick the landing while Sweeper fell face first into the ground, she got up dazed and confused with her face covered in dirt but this didn't stop Guard from running up to give her a big hug. Savage recovered from her fall and pulled Dealer up from the ground, the group noticed the commotion going on in the UCNA base.
"I was so worried that you guys got caught since it took you so long to get out of there." Guard said as Sweeper struggled in his grip.
"Things... happened. I'll explain it later." Savage motioned for everyone to get in the jeep.
Before Dealer could open the door, a loud explosion was heard from the second floor. The windows shattered spraying glass towards the US group.
"Okay. No really what's going on?" Dealer quickly jumped into the front seat and started the vehicle up.
"We should leave first." Reaper moved into the other front seat.
Everyone got into their positions and Dealer hit the pedal, they started making their way southwards. Sweeper looked behind her to the base that held her prisoner for one short day and she noticed three figures making a break for it eastwards.
"Should we do something about them, they're the murderers right?" Sweeper asked her Captain.
"Yeah but they're also not our problem. I mean I suppose you could say they are our problem since, apparently, they're US citizens but we'll let the United Countries deal with them."
"What's this about murderer?" Guard looked at the two. "Wait! Sweeper! Your spine hasn't exploded!"
"Huh? Oh, uh, the UCNA had someone repair it for me."
"You should have it checked it out in case they planted an explosive in it." Dealer joked.
Sweeper did not appreciate her banter, she had already spent a good bit of trouble worrying about her spine snapping before getting this new one and she doesn't want to go through the trouble of being too careful again. But Dealer was right. Their should be a reason why the UCNA would go out of their way to help her out, if androids could sweat Sweeper would be dripping bullets.
While Sweeper contemplated on what the UCNA did to her Savage explained what happened in the base to Guard and Dealer. When Savage and Reaper entered the UCNA base they were caught off guard by the base's defense system blaring out since it didn't do that last time they infiltrated. Of course this caused them to panic and search for any way to stop it from warning the soldiers of their presence, luckily for them they found the monitor room and quickly smashed everything up with no one noticing them. After that they managed to sneak into the mob and they got caught up in a murder investigation so they were stuck there for a while but they did manage to locate Sweeper much faster because of it.

"There was a murder and an investigation? Aw man I want to be a part of that, I could've been a great eye witness." Guard complained.
"You wouldn't have seen anything..." Dealer pointed out. "Also from the sounds of it, it ended up a complete mess. Why didn't you step up as detective and use your sleuth skills that you've bragged about Sweeper? Sweeper?"
"... Oh!" Sweeper looked up and noticed that everyone was looking at her. "It's not like they would let me go free if I solve the case. I did help out though, only because I wanted to get it over with. Also Dealer please keep your eyes on the road!"
"I think Corporal Sweeper should stick to being a soldier or maybe my disguises were so good that even her power of keen observation could not penetrate it." Savage pat herself on the back.
It didn't matter to Sweeper on whether or not she had noticed the disguises, she was free and it didn't cost the US anything except time and maybe a few pieces of clothing. What did matter was the fact that they came for her which she appreciated.
"I'm glad we managed to get you out without having to trade anything! They might have asked for something unreasonable like two vehicles." Dealer said as she continued driving south.
"What do you mean unreasonable?" Sweeper was feeling less appreciative.
"Dealer didn't mean anything by it." Guard tried to ease the situation. "It's just what if they asked for something that was worth more than you!"
"How much am I worth?" She asked.
Guard froze up as he realized what he just said. Maybe he could've worded that better or maybe he could've said nothing at all. Well it was too late now, Guard tried to come up with something that might get him out of this.
"He just meant that it might be troubling if they asked for us to leave Former North Dakota." Reaper turned around from the front seat.
"Yeah... that would be unreasonable..." Sweeper calmed down.
Guard breathed a sigh of relief as he leaned back in his seat. Sweeper looked out the window and noticed that they were still heading south.
"Shouldn't we turn west and head back to base?"
"Oops I forgot to tell you about the next step in our plan." The Captain held one finger up. "Rescuing you was just part 1."
Savage explained that Guard and Reaper had a discussion yesterday about the Special Forces that they encountered. When Guard was held captive he had managed to get info out of his captors and apparently they were looking for something close by but Guard wasn't exactly sure about the location of it. They just recently found it too as they were planning to take Guard a little further out but stopped.

"Yeah! And when I talked to Reaper about it she said that she had encountered more of those guys in the north of the forest when she was doing her distraction thingy." Guard took over Savage's explanation.
"Guard had only met three of the Special Forces and one stayed back to watch over. I encountered four." Reaper added.
Reaper had made her way to the north to make as much noise as possible to lure them away and as expected two of them approached her from the south. What surprised her was the two that came from the west, it was tough but she managed to slip by them and make her way back to the vehicle and escape with the others. They both decided that the Captain needed to know about it.
"I get it." Sweeper said. "So you want to know what they were looking for and you're assuming it's somewhere in the northwest section of the forest."
"Exactly Corporal Sweeper! And if we happen to meet the Special Forces again we can just apologize about our earlier actions since we are on the same side and I outrank them!"
Savage had this all planned out, whatever they found must be important for them to stop what they were doing in the first place and bunker down in the area. It must be a secret weapon. In fact there was a decent 101% chance it is a secret weapon and she needed to jump on it before the UCNA figures that something is off. Plus if they convince them to team up they can easily destroy the UCNA forces especially now that their militia (? She still wasn't sure about them ?) has fallen apart.
"We're now back at full strength and if we combine with the estimated five members of the Special Forces we will be at 183% power!" Savage punched the air in excitement.
"They did mention something about their original goal..." Guard thought long and hard. "But I forgot! It probably wasn't that important anyways."
As soon as Guard mention that the jeep suddenly halted.
"Goddammit Private Dealer you know you can slow down right?" Savage shouted at the driver.
"We are just outside the forest." Dealer pointed out the window at the trees in front of them. "Guess we gotta walk now."
Savage and Reaper took off their disguises and left them in the backseat while Guard tugged on Mirabelle's arm to try to get her off the roof. Once everything was settled they would meet up just a bit behind the jeep to discuss their next plan of action, Dealer stayed behind to rub the tiger patterned seat for good luck.
"Get your ass over here!" Savage called her over.
"Don't worry I won't let anything hurt you." Dealer whispered to the seats before turning around. "Okay I'm heading over now!"
She grabbed her weapon and made her way to the group.
"Hey where are your weapons?" She asked Savage and Reaper.
"I thought we told you bring them for us?" Reaper looked confused.
"Huh? I thought that you would be carrying them?"
"Why would we be carrying them when we're suppose to sneak in and disguise as one of them!?" Savage's eyebrows started to furrow.
"Well you would need them for what we're doing after we rescue Sweeper." Guard backed Dealer up.
"Which is why we asked you to bring our guns for us so we can use them later Corporal Guard!"
"You're right..."
"You still have your pistols right?" Savage looked at both of them and they nodded their heads.
Savage grabbed the guns from Guard and Dealer's hands and gave one to Reaper. Without missing a beat she walked towards the trunk of the jeep and grabbed a bag from it and hauled it over her shoulder before walking into the forest without saying anything else. Reaper looked at the two and shrugged her shoulders before following.
"I think we might have messed up..." Guard scratched his head.
They totally did screw up but this was nothing new for Dealer, for her it's better to not worry too much about it and continue going with the flow. Even if the flow just happens to be bonkers crazy and she just happens to make it worse, it's best not to let it get to her.
