《The Prophecy Of The Four Kings》Chapter 39

The boys had been wondering around in the city clueless for about thirty minutes, they had stopped sitting on a bench in what appeared to be the city plaza, the edges were lined with many shops, from, snack stores, to cafe’s, to restaurants, to weapons stores and other miscellaneous stalls, and all of them were busy and teeming with vibrancy and life,
“its hard to believe that this is a kingdom that is currently running rampant and actively at war”, Levant stated as he sat on the edge of the bench observing a couple that were at a cafe sitting down fawning over each other,
“that's because officially they aren’t at war, to them its the guild thats causing all of this trouble”, barak chimed in from the opposite end of the bench,
Polaris was siting down staring up at the sky lost some where in his mind, and Aster was just watching and observing how the people of the Dracht empire were interacting with each other,
Polaris lowered his head from looking into the sky, and as he looked forward his eyes landed on a familiar person standing outside the weapons store,
“guys, guys, aluric is here”,polaris said, his voice sounding monotonous,
“obviously he’s here pol, his guild is in the city and this is his hometown”, barak said,
“no I mean he’s here, as in I’m looking right at him”, Polaris continued,
all three of the boys immediately looked in the direction that Polaris was looking in, and there he stood in front of them, about to take a seat outside of the weapons store,
Aluric’s Pov
Aluric was about to leave the weapons smith store, but as he went to push the door he felt a massive wave of divine energy outside though it felt vaguely familiar to him, and before he opened the door he took a deep breath preparing for what was outside,

he stepped outside, and that’s when he noticed that it was the four guys he had fought against when he went to Arteva looking for yumi, he realized that they hadn’t noticed him yet so he turned around looking at the door of the weapons smith shop, after about a minute of just standing there he decided to take a seat,
he was thinking to himself as he sat down,
“why didn’t they try to hide their presence by reducing their energy output, I’m sure that that would be one of the first things yumi taught them, unless they kept it that way in order to lure me out”, he thought to himself as a tidal wave of thoughts sprang forth in his brain,
“anyways, I’m sure one of them also felt the massive amounts of energy they’re outputting, so they will probably show up soon”, he continued to think,
as he continued in his thoughts, he noticed in the middle of the plaza a small child fell down, they had started crying, the small child had a bluish grey mark running across her face and one of her ears, her ears were pointed, even more so than an elf’s ears, and her eyes were a deep blood red, and she was dressed in very tattered clothes
after about two minutes of the child crying, one of the adults in the plaza walked up to her, and without warning kicked her, sending her flying into the air, and while she kicked the small child, she shouted,
“half demon brat shut up, and disappear, the fucking sight of you makes me want to vomit”,
but before the kid could hit the ground, she landed in Aluric’s hands,
back with the boys
They had realized that aluric knew they were there, that was the whole reason why they walked around with their divine energy unchecked, in hopes to draw out him or someone strong from the guild,

they did this because each of the boys wanted first hand knowledge on how far they had come from those months of training,
after they knew that aluric was aware of them, they were fully prepared to fight right there and then, then a young child fell down, and began to cry and after a minute or two the woman from the couple that Levant was staring got up and kicked the child, all while saying some nasty and hurtful things,
Seeing that immediately riled up the boys, especially Levant and Polaris, but before they could move Aster placed his hammer in front of the two of them and stopping them from moving by placing some earth around their feet,
“Aster what the fuck, why are you stopping us”, Levant shouted,
“look”, Aster said as he pointed to the scene, where Aluric now stood with the little girl in his hands,
“if we attack her now, an unarmed citizen of this kingdom, inside their capital, I’m willing to bet that they would see that as an act of war, and attack our home as soon as they are done with attacking the other kingdoms”, Aster pointed out,
and aster was more or less correct, but the one oversight he missed was the fact that someone else there had a huge weak spot for children,
Barak let out a sigh,”this is why I have to take in so many kids back home, Barak said, getting up from his seat,
And as if silence could cut the air, barak appeared behind the woman who had kicked the little girl, grabbing her by her hair and kicking the back of her knee making her kneel on the ground, he placed his sword by her neck, the lightning trickling off, running into her skin, leaving lightning shaped scorch marks, then he whispered into her ear,
“apologize and don’t ever do that again in your life”, barak whispered,
the lady began to apologize to little girl profusely, and barak began to walk back towards the rest, but not before looking at aluric,
“from how she’s dressed my guess is she’s an orphan, so take care of her, with what little life you have left”, barak threatened as he walked off,
“i guess no matter where you go in the world there are the same problems everywhere”, he thought to himself,

Death By Protagonist
Donavan has made his living by wading through hundreds of stories in search of the quality few he and his firm believe to be worth publishing. After a strange twist of fate, he gets trapped inside the fantasy book of a particularly campy and amateur author. There he will have to navigate a world built on wish fulfillment, power fantasies, and fanservice in order to fix the story from the inside out if he ever wishes to leave. But can he bring himself to play the many roles necessary to manipulate and guide the characters to a satisfying conclusion? Authors Note: Death By Protagonist is meant to be simultaneously a satire of, and love letter to the isekai/portal fantasy genre. It both makes fun of and embraces many tropes of the genre such as harems, explicit sexual content, OP protagonists, and other things many people might think of as "trashy." If that doesn't sound like your thing, you've been warned, but I hope you'll give it a shot anyway. Update Schedule: Plan is to at least put out one new chapter every week, hopefully two.
