“I told you to stay put. Can’t you refrain from literally killing a person for 5 minutes?!”

“Are you seriously blaming ME for this?” Ailith shouted. “Who was the one who provoked me in the first place?”

The girl, Elaine, it read on her file, was still unconscious in the room next door.

Alex rubbed his temple as if he were dealing with a child. “We can discuss this later. What do we do with her?” “

I say we kill her.”

Alex shook his head-no. “Seriously? Do you know how long of a report I’ll have to write about it afterwards. At least 50 pages worth.”

“Fine, then what do you want to do with her? She already knows what we’re like. It’s too dangerous to keep her around.”

After several minutes of consideration, Alex replied “Send her to a psych ward.”

“What? Are you crazy?”

“No, she’ll be crazy. Even if she goes around revealing our identities, no-one will believe her.”

“Oh. I see your point.”

“Yeah.”

There was a brief moment of silence before Alex started speaking. “You’ve really changed, you know? You used to hate the idea of killing innocent people.”

Ailith scoffed. “Yeah, I guess being an assassin does that to you. Plus, you stabbing me in the back didn’t help much.”

Alex frowned a bit.

“Look, if it’s pity or concern you’re giving me, just-don’t. It’ s pathetic and fake coming from you and I don’t need it. We have to focus on the task at hand. The psych ward is a good idea. You look into that and I’ll figure out how to sort out the people around her.”

“Right.”

“So it’s settled then?”

“Yeah, I’ll take this shift so you should go rest. I’ll wake you when she’s conscious.”

“Okay.”

And with those decisions made, Aiith went to her room to get some much needed rest.
