Chapter 1: Playground Scuffle
The stout boy loomed over the somewhat irritated bespectacled lad who was a full head shorter than him.
“How dare you hit me with the ball, shorty?!”
The lad glared, mood immediately worsening at the mention of height, “I called out as I threw it to you. It’s not my fault that you couldn’t catch it, fatso!”
The moment the last word left his lips, the kids gathered around them let out a gasp. The heavily-built boy seethed as his eyes reddened, palms balling up. He leapt and punched.
The shorter lad’s fists flew up as he danced away from the blow. Unfortunately, his flawless dodge amounted to naught as his heel caught a stone.
“Oww!”
He was on his back, head spinning, glasses askew.
His opponent wasted no time in pressing his advantage, promptly sitting down on the shorter youth’s chest; pressing him to the ground. By the time the downed fighter could see clearly, a fist came flying towards his face.
The lad turned his face away reflexively and the fist went past his face smashing hard into the ground.
“Ahhhhhhh!” The stout kid cried out, as he raised his chubby hand, blood already dripping from his knuckles. Just as he was distracted, his fallen adversary rammed his own fist into his belly eliciting an “Oooof!”
But he didn’t stop there; he kept on punching until the rotund kid hurriedly and awkwardly shuffled backward and off of him.
Smelling the scent of victory, the bespectacled child quickly pushed up his glasses, and clambered onto the ‘fatso’ punching straight at his rounded face.
The heavy lad turned his head but was unable to escape in time. The fist drove into the side of his nose. In pain, he just blindly swatted at the lad atop him.
Caught unprepared, the big palm crashed into the side of the youngster’s head sending his specs flying. He blinked back tears that came unbidden to his eyes.
Just as he raised his fist to smash his knuckles into his opponent's face again, a thunderous order issued from the side.
“STOP!”

Dragon: Birth of an Ancient
Deep in a secluded forest, within the depths of a long forgotten cave, an unnatural silence that has reigned for little over a million years is shattered as a hatchling takes its first breath. To the various species that called this world, one of seven, home, the matter seemed beyond insignificant. The hatchling, like all monsters, had no divine backing and with its age, could only be considered a lesser existence. A being to be used by the Chosen and noble monster bloodlines in their never-ending pursuit of power, fame and immortality. However, how could any of the short-lived races, Chosen and Monster alike, know that the tiny, weak, lizard-like creature was much more than it seemed. That it was an entity only spoken of in myth and legend. From a species that their ancestors, with the backing of the Gods, paid a huge price to remove. A heretical existence that threatened the fragile peace that had descended upon their world. A Dragon. ==== ** Cover done by the amazing Felix!*** I am writing this story for a friend who is currently in hospital and in a very precarious situation. He gave me the plot/ concept and, after my own health issues, I wanted to try and brighten his day and provide a distraction from the monotony of their hospital stay. I am posting it on RRL mainly in case anyone else can find enjoyment from the story and to show the readers of my other stories that I am not permanently MIA (and will 100% return to those stories in the future).

Musings of a Hypocrite
Mortals are weird. They insisted in unity, as well as individualism. More often than not, they're shocked at truth and honesty, but not at falsehood and deceit. They asked questions with multiple answers, and provided answers that begged other questions. They made things to break, they destroyed things to study, they researched things to recreate. Humans, Elves, Beastmen. All of them. Within these contradictions, a miracle might manifest. But this tended to work with a trial and error methodology. Most mortals never got the happy ending. This diary is my journey alongside a few students of mine. In simple terms - they learn, they grow, they fight. They'll journey through centuries of conflict, from the physical to the educational. They'll experience the cruelty and benelovence of all living-kind. They'll experience the consequences of their choices and the blessings of their rewards. They will grow to become useful to me, or die trying like all the others. As for you? The god reading our lives like a book, sitting in your chair without a care in the world? I will show you, the farce that is known as 'God'.
