《An NPC Challenges the Dark Lord(LN)》Vol 1. Chapter 10: Changing World History

There are as many outcomes as deaths in war. The fate of the World of Warfare has always been with a small infantry soldier, Rose. One outcome has stood the test of in-game time.
“Prepare our attack on the Cyborgs.”
“But Sir Echo, the Cyborgs are immune to magic and even...our advanced mech.”
“Not anymore. Come to our underground laboratory.”
Sir Echo and the assistant took the elevator. The underground laboratory was all white and nearly no decorations around. A very minimalist design.
“We’ve captured one cyborg and we’ve managed to rewire it to be our soldier. Why are two advanced societies divided in the first place? We must join together by annexation.”
“How can we rewire cyborgs that have not been captured?”
“That’s what our hard-working scientists have attempted to answer. I hate attempts. I want answers only.”
Echo pointed at the sleepless and distressed scientists.
“Freeloaders can die. I have ultimate control of every life in this civilization.”
The scientist curled in the corner mumbling to himself became blue goo.
“Just a little ‘breath of God’ and this should become a more useful citizen.”
The blue goo formed into a duck human hybrid and immediately began on the project.
“I take recycling very seriously. I think the memories reset but there is no need to hold on to memories or feelings...only progress is a must. Anything in the name of progress. You cannot assist me if we...differ in views. Do we?”
“No Sir...I share the same vision.”
“If I was a mage, I’d have that mind reading magic to truly know but I don’t need magic. I’ll simply turn you blue upon betrayal.”
Two men hurriedly came in.
“Sir the Past Empire has breached our magnetic field!”
“Impossible. We have a traitor among us! Unleash the Wires. Protect the Red Button. Maximum Security towards the Red Button.”
Outside the gates, many tanks and planes were destroyed by the ‘Wires’. The living core beneath the city that mimics the Kraken but heavily metallic and dependent on electricity.
“We’ve been ambushed! Defend the Power Sources!”
A holographic screen appeared before the Emperor.

“But sir you said Max Security for the Button.”
Echo attempted to turn the assistant into blue goo but it did not happen. In a panicked state, instead of thinking the assistant is an outsider, Echo thought instead that it proves he’s not a traitor.
“What good is the button if the power source is-”
Echo got knocked out by the assistant using brass knuckles.
“So he was human? I’ve gotta get to the button. Commander?”
He pulled his transceiver.
“Sending you the coordinates Rose. It’s very close to the underground laboratory. Use your flashlight dammit. It went dark.”
Outside the soldiers rejoiced as the Wires stopped functioning. The power source was cut off but it was not done by the Past Empire.
The Energy Mechs were shot out of the Empire’s tallest tower. The energy machines easily ripped apart tanks while taking heavy damage as long as they had fuel from batteries.
The Advanced Empire’s very own infantry came out equipped with combat armor and each soldier wiped out hundreds on the other side using missiles and lasers. The machine guns were no match.
“Sir it’s safe to do it! It’s further underground.”
“But you’ll never escape, soldier! What about your family?”
“The button will do its wonders as I’ve read from the Ancient Library of the Ancient Empire.”
A large airship hovered over the Advanced Empire. Three nukes were ready and were released one by one upon the commander’s order. Both sides were wiped out and neighboring nations felt the radiation.
Rose had finally reached the button just like every time. A war hero unknown to man in any timeline but responsible for reverting the damage.
This was the button made to keep The World of Warfare forever at war. It temporarily resets the landscape in perfect detail before any damage and brings back any dead soldier or citizen.
The button was hidden deep within a sand temple. Rose has no knowledge of pressing the button before. All memories are lost.
Rose found the tombstone of the sand temple open and as he went inside the button was gone.
Prince Gabriel was waiting kneeling before the dead bodies of the those who guard the button.

“You are the reason there is no peace! There is no victory if no outcome is permanent.”
“I don’t understand. How did you get here first? If you’re here to protect the button I will fight for it.”
“I destroyed it. I will also destroy you. You’re not a war hero. If you can’t remember, you’ve always pressed the button and brought what? Two to seven days of peace? I can bring eternal peace!”
Prince Gabriel took out a machine gun and emptied its ammo on Rose.
“No no you will not die yet. You have my permission to live for a bit longer. You’re going to hear why you’re the biggest sinner in this world.”
Rose kept spitting blood as his bulletproof vest was not enough.
“Pressing that button...changes nothing. You should let the course of events pass. After war comes peace. I need war to bring peace. I’m going to thank the past empire by making them a part of ours through ‘memory annexation’ but this empire I must destroy.”
Way above the temple and into the battlefield, the elemental dragons came to finish off any remaining structures and civilians.
“The other outcomes are not part of my pacifist route to world peace. YOU prevent world peace. YOU have false hopes that your Empire will win and that’s why you’ve kept pressing. You press the button for a selfish goal.”
Rose could not understand the evil coming from a young blonde boy in white garments.
“If...I press...everything resets and there’s a chance for democratic talk.”
“Negotiations do nothing! Your wisdom is nothing! You listen, and I talk so that you fully understand the gravity of your war crimes.”
Prince Gabriel slapped off the head of the dying soldier but placed it back and revived him.
“The chance of a peaceful talk for every nation does not exist. Are you stupid? This is “The World of Warfare” for a reason! There is no progress because all you do is hope and cry. There’s no concrete plan or action.”
Rose breathed his last then came back to life to spit blood.
“I’m going to build a history without you pushing a hard reset unto this world. There is no button. It’s gone. My rule as Prince won’t end.”
“I promise you there is world peace after this. Rose, your failure will lead to world peace.”
Rose died leaning against the walls of the sand temple and was forgotten forever. Buried deep below the remains of the Future Empire.
The Prince resurfaced and took the skills he found necessary. He could not conquer The Cyborgs and so he changed their memories. The largest land continent was united including the Cave Territories.
The Prince changed his attire to a royal coat with fur on the edges but the design is a dark green camo. He wore a gas mask plus a gold crown.
The Prince also cured the land of radiation. There was over a week of peace as all empires were united. Agriculture and science flourished as the Prince was busy planning in the war room.
“The remaining will listen to me otherwise. I must give them a rebirth of the mind. I have acquired the Destroyer of the Future Empire. Our first target will be Errd. This is the one true outcome of the World of Warfare: To conquer the Universe.”
The most common outcome used to be the Futuristic Empire taking over but Rose would find ways to override that outcome and thus warfare was constant in this world.
Echo survived and landed ashore on Navy Island.
“Listen, Please! A psychopath will rule over this world! Let us join to-”
The Kraken had its first human meal in weeks.
“Is it true Kraken?”
The general walked to the shore
“There is a prince coming to unite us all by force. He has united the land empires.”
“Then we fight back. I shall contact the Frost Civilizations. Perhaps they can freeze him.”
Prince Gabriel is currently level 1,034 but when stealing skills, level requirements do not matter.
Yami must destroy this young one before he reaches Errd. I have to report now.
