《An NPC Challenges the Dark Lord(LN)》Vol 1. Chapter 3: A Taste of Omnipotence

The World Guild is a tall establishment with many floors dedicated for the world’s best adventurers.
I wanna be called one of the world’s best adventurers too.
Now if I can remember which floor Team Unconquered is…Maybe 2nd floor.
I opened the door to their team discussion room or “War Room” as the sign says but heard a serious discussion.
“The bounty is 1 trillion gold. This is at least 1,000 legendary weapons or armor pieces. We’ll be 10 times stronger and farther from any other tea-”
“Who’s there!? Have other teams come to spy on us?”
I shut my mouth tight. I made sure my entire body hides behind the door.
“I’ll use detection magic to detect players.”
Oh no. I’ve read about a bit of magic in the history books. I wish I could use some but it’s said swordsmen are unlikely to use magic.
“No one. It’s just the wind.”
“Are you sure?”
“What the hell do you mean by that? I’m the strongest mage around here don’t doubt me. Ever.”
That sounded like Arcana. I see…now I get why I didn’t like the other members.
“What’s our odds of beating the Dark Lord?”
BraveHart? He wants to defeat the old man too…
“Pretty good. 110%. There’s 9 of us and our combined levels amounts to 1,100,000. Together we’re stronger than that level 900,000 loafer.”
What on Errd are levels???
“Brad! Do not ridicule The Ranked #1 Player. If he eliminates one of us, there’s no more chance, we must retreat and help the other level up quickly.”
“No BraveHart! You shut the f*ck up. I destroy him and we won’t ever worry about going back to level 1! I can take any damage he brings on me, I’m the tank.”

I assume that was vulgar. Mother never really taught me what was wrong to say.
“Stop…Please…Don’t do this. I don’t want to. I feel something wrong will come up.”
Althea’s sweet voice should whisper their way out of this. I couldn’t beat him…maybe they can? Together?
“We need you Althea. You are the best healer. We won’t be able to take hits without you.”
BraveHart with the sweet talk. I personally think they should let her go…
“Oookay…But I warned you. Yami, I mean the Dark Lord has a record of sadistic crimes against players who have fought him…”
“We have The Twin Shooters, Snipe and LongShot. We have Lilith, the best necromancer. We have Suo, the best summoner and we have Lionheart, the best tamer.”
“Exactly Althea. Your worries bear no fruit! You are bringing us down with your pessimistic nature. We’re supposed to discuss strategy.”
“Yeh Althea get out of the team if you keep doubting us! We are the most powerful! We are nearly omnipotent.”
After Arcana uttered those words, The old man appeared in front of me and grinned. He went beyond the door and changed the entire atmosphere.
“I personally think your discussion of strategy will bear no fruit too.”
The room turned pitch black but I could still see all the heroes clearly without light.
I could not move, I’m caught covered with something.
“It’s an invisibility cloak. Much better they don’t know you’re here to witness my glorious victory.”
The Dark Lord was speaking to them but I could hear him???It must be all in my head.
“Coward! You’re not letting us fight in our best shape by using our best chance possible.”
“Silence, Brad! I am here to accept your greedy challenge. All you adventurers ever think about is gold and glory.”

I saw all 9 adventurers struggle to stand up and get up from their positions…They are kneeling down and bowing their heads to the Dark Lord floating above.
“P*ssy! You Chicken! Let us go! I’ll show you!”
“How entertaining! With this, I can change your name to Team Obedient. I’ve already conquered your team with this. If you truly are the best mage Arcana, then figure out the spell to free your friends.”
“Unfair! You didn’t tell us the spell you used! How the f*ck am I supposed to know? You really are a coward.”
“Go on, keep taunting and delaying the inevitable. I’ve made The Void as big as possible for our first magic trick.”
The old man shot himself up higher and higher and positioned his palms facing up.
“I don’t wanna be like you boastful adventurers who take pride in their skill names and shout it like idiots but if you insist that you’d like to know the spell name, it’s not something you have so called ‘best mage’. I’m the best of any class.”
“Planetary Devastation.”
I saw an insanely huge spherical object I’ve never seen before with a ring around it. The so-called ‘planet’ made Yami look like a tiny dot. He hurled the planet towards the members bowing on the ground with their heads forced to look up.
“I warned us all…That’s…Saturn…”
“Shut the f*ck up Althea! F*ck this we’re going back to Level 1 by a coward move!”
Brad just kept hurling insults, maybe hoping to get into a fist fight.
“YOU COWARD!!!This isn’t magic! Tell me the spell already you’re using to force us to… to…kneel and bow!”
Arcana was desperate.
“Don’t worry, the planet will take it’s time to hit you. You have enough time to figure it out unless…I change my mind. I felt really sad with your mean remarks so let’s increase the acceleration a bit.”
The old man sarcastically remarked on his sadness. The planet noticeably increased its speed.
The old man chortled in a deep and wicked voice further distressing my favorite heroes…
He’s going to kill BraveHart!
“Please don’t kill BraveHart…”
“Don’t worry they won’t die, they’ll just go back to square zero. You will meet them again but you will be 29 levels stronger.”
I didn’t understand what the whisper meant.
