《Bloody Angel》The 71st Goatian Demon

Angels are the symbols of Heaven. Messengers and actors of the different Gods who reside in the realm untouched by mortals. Representing obedience and servitude, they are the divine symbols of order willing to shed blood to kill themselves for their heavenly masters. However it is strange, they only take orders from gods deemed hallowed. They do not heed the words of Zeus or Ra. In fact they are so selective some wonder who they really serve. Demons on the other hand, are creatures of freedom at its core. The strongest rules those weaker. If those who are unsatisfied by their mandate, then they are forcibly removed by the power of another. However despite how angels and demons clash over order and freedom, the two ideals cannot exist without one another. An example of this is the Goatia Demons. 72 power demons who pillage, steal, and murder at their own disposition. Yet they band together in the name of progressing demon-kind and hold a code of loyalty in oath. What irony it is.
…
“Here is your earnings.” The caped man spoke.
“Pleasure doing business with you. Repeat customers are always welcome you know.”
“Do you have any connections in the city of Praglast?”
“Contact my boss and we’ll let you know.”
“You really are trying to get yourself killed aren’t you? Messing with demons never turns out well.”
“I’m not the one using a forbidden, ancient power you know.”
“True, hope to never see you again.”
“By the way, does your master always have that old accent?”
“Only to mess with people. Now get out of my sight.”
“Anything for a customer.”
The caped man walked away towards a dark alley as Jion rode off.
Akiael, with bag of chips and sword in hand, chanted a spell.
“Secundum Septuaginta, Coget.”
The scenery warped from the dark, ill-scented alley of layers of floors to an brightly lit, neon underground bar where a dark-skinned elf was cleaning a glass with a cloth, paying his accomplice no heed.
“Have a gift for you, Neils.”
Akiael threw the bag at the elf who caught it without any trouble or hesitation.
“How long will the work to crack the chips take?”

“No less than a day. Dantalian wants to speak with you so hurry up.”
Akiael entered the metallic doors at the back of the room only to see the 71st demon staring at a book not so different from the thousands contained in the towering bookshelves which spanned the whole room.
“How did securing the funds go?”
“Don’t mess with me master. You already knew what was going to happen.”
“Yes, except the part where you screwed up.”
The faceless demon turned to face his disciple as his spine horns stretched out.
“Didn’t I tell you that mercy will only bring more bloodshed? She was a threat to your future.”
“No worries. You also told me to use my head so I did so.”
Akiael then pointed to one of his incisors.
“She is not telling anything, in fact it is highly likely that she won’t be a threat.”
The demon sighed. “Next time follow the plan so we don’t have the attention of Imperial agents. Give me your palm.”
The demon took out a glowing pen and a notebook then touched his disciples palm with two of his fingers. A floating translucent box appeared to both the demon and the vampire.
Congratulations!

“Huh, sweet.”
Status screens have been established long before time. However in order to view it one must need the guidance of class of the records category. Scribes, Writers, and Oracles are few of the classes in this category that can check statuses. However certain mystical items can also check a person’s status, though they are rare to come by and always expensive.
“Anyways, our last target in this city has been decided.”
The demon’s face began to show an image, similar to a screen. A laboratory could be seen in a remote location with a significant amount of security surrounding the place. The glass plating on the walls made it similar to a typical Imperial office building.
“What does this place have to do with my possession abilities?”
“Recently the Sector of Biological Advancements have announced a project pertaining to the recent discovery of DNA.”

The demon’s face began to show an image of a helix diagram.
“In fact they are steps ahead conducting experiments to cause so called, genetic mutations. Using magic of the nuclear element, their scientists and sorcerers alike are attempting to create a human weapon by random mutations. Though they are setting their chances to fate, they are playing with a dangerous type of magic which could change battlefields. That’s where you come in.”
The demon’s face returned to its natural blurry black and white static shape.
“The sector plans to move one of their successful experiments to a highly secretive area with classification even my agents and informants could not find out. Your mission will be to find the experiment and collect data and information pertaining to the project. After that the destruction of the building. If all goes well then you can gain another spirit to possess and I can have more information to sell. If you fail then the Empire will be happy to take a vampire prisoner and also root out all of my informants. Meaning that I will have to spend at least 20 years building up my resources again.”
The demon snapped his fingers and a holographic blue screen detailing the demon’s plan appeared behind him. Then Dantalian began to point out his exquisite robbery in a lecture-like manner.
“I have hired the Socrates Group again to act as delivery service to gain access into the building.”
“Those guys again? Why don’t you just get one of your shape-shifting demons to play the driver?”
Dantalian slapped the vampire with the back of his hand. Catching Akiael by surprise.
“Disciple. I taught you everything you need to know for the past 8 years. I trust that you can handle simple discussions like this in a fashionable manner.”
“Yeah, I got it.”
The demon got out of Akiael’s face and began motioning towards the image again.
“The Socrates Group is our scapegoat if you screw up. I had to make these arrangements months in advance to ensure that the timetables for the infiltration is not suspicious. But anyways, after infiltration, make your way to the records section and store everything in your coat’s dimensional storage. Then head to the experiment facility, find the subject and blow the place up using a black flare.”
The demon lord threw a torch-like object to Akiael and the screen turned off.
“I’ll send you the plans in your Grimoire.”
A small tablet in his pocket lit up with a notification as soon as Dantalian mentioned it.
The vampire spoke. “When will we be starting the mission?”
“In two days. Tomorrow I have business with King Belial and Duke Sallos so Neils will keep in contact with you when you are in the mission.”
“Why is he in on this?”
The demon lord sighed.
“The dark elf is here because one of my avid sponsors want to ensure that our missions in Industria are fluid. In fact his ability to create illusions is top notch.”
The demon went up close to Akiael and spoke.
“This is where we part ways my disciple. Our eight years were delightful and to be frank you are one of the few vampires I actually don’t want to murder.”
“Master, thank you for everything.”
The vampire got on one knee and bowed.
“I’ll make sure a teleport crystal is left here for you. Neils will make sure the Empire doesn’t keep you here. Don’t die Akiael. Visit me if you are in deep trouble.”
“Don’t count on it.”
The vampire got up and went to go prepare, leaving the demon alone in his library.
“I remember when he was a mere child. How time goes by fast. Yet it’s strange, that village was not home to Daywalkers.”
The demon walked over to grab one of the books titled Vampiric Families and Courts and opened it.
"Interesting."
The demon spoke to himself after glancing at a few pages.
"Fanlus will have a lot of people wanting his death."
