《Deity's Fragments [Paused]》Chapter 37 - Celebration Begin

Walking behind Chen Mei, Zack could feel how everything started to go out of focus as only the door had presence, and a black aura was coming out of it.
He swallowed deeply inwardly, wondering if it was a good idea to follow to meet such a person.
They arrived, and opening the door, he could notice a person sitting behind a desk as he looked into the room. He could have sworn he had a good look at who the person in the room was, but his mind showed him only a pair of eyes in a dark room.
"Come in boy, don't be afraid... Leave us alone Mei."
Chen Mei opened her eyes and panicked. It never occurred to her to have to leave Zack alone with her grandfather. Hesitating what to do, she was squeezing Zack's wrist tightly.
An invisible force came out of the room, separating them and then dragging Zack into the room as the dead one closed.
Chen Mei's face was filled with terror in her eyes. She could see Zack being dragged as he cried for help and clung to the floor like a horror movie.
Reality: Zack was lifted by an invisible force as it carried him into the room, and the door closed.
Zack didn't have to be psychic or have the ability to measure or look at the other person's stats. He could tell at a glance that he was in front of a monster.
A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead. Keeping as calm as possible, he looked at this powerful being.
"It's been a long time since a stranger looked me in the eyes, the last one to do so left this world long ago", Spoke the old man while smiling.
Zack did not look away and continued to stare at this being. To stop looking at him would not change any facts.
"I like you, you have guts so let's stop beating around the bush, tell me, what do you think of Mei?"

Looking to the side then turning his gaze back to the old man, he replied. "Hm, she has a lot of talent plus a brilliant and calculating mind."
'She's just a crazy woman who got me into a big mess, but I can't tell you that,’ he thought.
"Okay, okay, then can you explain to me what you don't like about her?"
'Other than that she's crazy, I haven't thought beyond that' *Zack*.
"You can't force a feeling, she carried most of it hard and the situations I've been through haven't allowed me to focus on a relationship, after all, you can't love if you force the feeling."
The old man looked at this boy in front of him with wide eyes. A hint of backstory could be noticed behind what he said. 'What has driven this boy to this mentality?'
"'Do you know the benefits you would gain by joining our family? Many would kill just to have the chance to be just a servant, instead you get the chance to join as an official member and you don't take it."
"In our family we don't have traditions of having to marry our children to other people of background, we let them choose, if you join our family you will have a brighter and greater path than you ever dreamed of, plus you can inherit our powers."
Zack looked away from the old man and looked through his focused faces at the window behind the old man, where he could see a large expanse of land. The land of the Chens.
"I'm sure the road ahead if I follow you is going to be easier and allow me to go far... Still, that's the Chen family's way, not my own way."
Rising from the chair, he bowed to the old man and then moved towards the room's door, pausing before opening it. He took one last look at the old man again and said.
"If she allows me to have this bracelet I will carry it with me and if fate permits I may be able to take the responsibility, but at such a time I will not be tied to the Chen family, I will be so powerful that no one will be able to put a chain on me."

He opened the door and walked out of the room as the door closed. The old man in the room was dumbfounded as his heart pounded harder.
A feeling of shock filled his heart. He gave a smile and closed his eyes. "You have found someone truly interesting my child, will you allow this one to keep the bracelet?"
Chen Mei appeared from one side of the room, breaking the talisman that kept her hidden. She had used a camouflage skill and quick step to enter the room before the door closed.
"I really can't hide anything from you grandfather." She looked toward the door and said. "I'll let you keep it and I'll also do my best to make it mine."
Outside the room, Zack walked around the mansion, looking at the beautiful structure it was made of. He kept walking until he reached the event hall where the celebration was being held.
'Something to eat doesn't go amiss, he thought.
He approached the table and could see the exquisite delicacies that were there in addition to the scent it gave off.
It was a vital essence stronger than level two beasts, sure level 3 or higher level beasts.
"Zack prepared several plates of different foods while attracting prying eyes. This didn't bother him at all, but he also wouldn't miss his chance to quench his thirst just to be stared at.
He moved to a far table and began to eat. He felt the taste of the meat run down his tongue to his throat and beyond. The energy also coursed through his body, making his body feel refreshed.
"May I know the name of such a person with such a sweet tooth?" a voice was heard.
Zack moved his gaze across the plates and found the same boy from before. "Zack," he said as he continued eating.
"Interesting name, I'm sure you already know my name obviously, but I'll introduce myself again; My name is Andrew...Andrew Rothschild."
Zack finished chewing on a drumstick as he choked and grabbed a pitcher of beer and gulped it down. "Well I didn't know that, but nice to meet you too."
Andrew smiled as a vein showed a little on his forehead. 'Who doesn't know me, does he want to make himself interesting?'
"I thought you might know me and it looks like I was wrong. I just want to have friends and you seem like an interesting person to me."
"Yes thank you very much."
Andrew was losing patience and trying to keep his composure. "May I ask what relationship you and Miss Mei have?"
Taking a few more bites and drinking an excellent wine Zack took a drink and answered. "Personally we are just acquaintances."
'Acquaintances? Who would believe such a tale."
Finishing his meal, Zack stood with the plates in his hand. "I think I've had enough and have no more to do here, so I'm leaving, nice to meet you Andrew."
"You're leaving without waiting for the main event?"
Zack paused and thought, 'I'd like to get back to the hunting dimension soon. But it wouldn't be good to offend the Chen Family by leaving now.'
At the same instant, a voice was heard echoing throughout the hall.
"Testing... 1. 2. 3."
"Everyone welcomes this celebration of great importance to our family. Let's see, over here we have the different families and allies accompanying the celebration and a few other guests. Thank you for attending this cast."
"Let the celebration begin!"

Hunter called himself an archaeologist, but he was a modern day treasure hunter. Tiyana was a scientist devoted to her craft. They were passionate people, wholly devoted to their work. Neither of them had time for love. Neither of them could resist it when it happened. Neither of them knew that the world would need the two of them to save it from a tyrannical pre-historic overlord, his cyborg vampire paramour, and their army of mindless drudges.Dawn of the Epoch is an epic science fiction novel about dark matter, death rays, nuclear warfare, and the Large Hadron Collider, but it is also a fantasy novel about medieval warriors, alchemy, and ancient gods. Dawn of the Epoch blends fantasy with reality, bringing mythology to life today. It is also an apocalyptic thriller spanning the globe from the Pyramids of Egypt to the heart of Africa to the majesty of the Himalayas. It is an epic hybrid-genre story with intense action sequences, magic, mythology, suspenseful plot twists, countless obstacles for the protagonists to overcome, and an utterly Machiavellian supernatural villain.Testimonials:"Probably one of my favorite books I've read to date. Brilliantly complex, adoringly rendered and quizzically intense. A must read and one I plan to revisit, and share!"- Amgwatts, Wattpad Reader"This has to be one of the most original and well written novels I have had the pleasure to read, on Wattpad and in general. It was captivating, interesting, immersive and above all, fantastic. I was left in awe of the beings, history and world you created. It was never dull, dry or predicable and it was a nice change from what seems to be the ever popular teen romance with vampires or werewolves or 'bad boys that are actually romantic good boys.' In the end it was a very pleasant surprise."-IridescentLies, Wattpad Readerhttp://dawnoftheepoch.weebly.com
