《Deity's Fragments [Paused]》Chapter 15 - Cricket Killer

Zack was cleaning five cricket cores, but he didn't have so much trouble hunting them this time. If he used his skills well, he could hunt up to 10 cricket cores at a time.
Zack looked at the cricket bodies and could only deny. He could sell the body at a reasonable price. They were used to make stances, weapons, armor, and other utility things.
Currently, he couldn't carry the bodies of the creatures he killed, as he had nowhere to store them. 'Why didn't that damn school give us a modified backpack with dimensional space.'
Zack finished cleaning the cores and began to eat them. These, for his part, tasted different than the mid-level ones. Although they tasted good, they didn't taste as tasty as the higher-level beasts.

He got a total of 8 attribute points. These cores did not give him enough points. The energy they had was of lower grade. The more point he goes getting, the stronger the beast that he will have to hunt.
He decided not to use the points he currently had and keep hunting while.
The deeper he went, the more cricket he found. 'I'm getting closer to its lair.'
He kept running through the trees, and far away, he could see many crickets. He could see many blue ones and a few red ones.
He watched the crickets and then decided to retreat to the treetops. He would be careful not to encounter flying beasts.
He hopped from branch to branch until he came to a large, broad branch. 'I'll settle here until nightfall; that's when they are most distracted to start singing.'
He opened his backpack and began to eat while doing a count of the cores he had. He counted 13 low-level cores and one medium level. This time he was careful as he fought the mid-level cricket.

He ate the cores to increase his power to deal with the crickets.

The energy coursed through his body, making modifications to his body structure. He now looked a little more toned and stronger. He threw a punch in the air and could see how his body was more flexible. He needed to become stronger as well; he couldn't rely on the ability of his power alone.
Night fell, and Zack, who was at the top of a tree, put on his mask and looked down where he could hear the chirping of many crickets.
The crickets were gathered in one place as they chirped. A unison symphony of "Cri" could be heard.
'On my own, I won't be able to finish off so many, that's if I rely only on fighting head-on.' He smiled and raised his two hands to torso height, and in both of them, lightning began to gather. There could be seen a little light in the treetops.
Zack began to jump down between branches as he gathered energy in both hands while at the same time compressing it. Two distorted balls of lightning were being created in his hands.
When he was close, some of the crickets saw the glow and started screaming in his direction. When the others wanted to see what was happening, a large number of electric currents swept over them,

Zack still didn't have enough imagination to create area attacks, so with Luzbel's help, he was able to come up with a way to attack most of them at once.
"I'll call you electric snake bomb," Zack said as he smiled at the power of his currents.
He had compressed half of his energy into both bombs, which, when exploded, would not cause destruction but would disperse the energy in electrical discharges.
The lightning killed many of the basic cricket in the attack. Those that were closer died instantly, while those that were farther away were suffering spasms from the electrical currents.
Zack wasted no more time and started running towards the crickets while killing the ones suffering from spasms. A few of the halflings that were farther away moved to attack him; although they suffered from the electricity, it wasn't enough to make them paralyzed.
Zack moved from left to right, dodging and killing some of the basic crickets lying around. This carnage made the medium crickets even angrier.
Zack activated his eye ability and attacked the right where he connected with one of the medium crickets, causing it to fall wounded.
As he kept dodging and killing low crickets, he sent a lightning bolt towards the cricket he had hit earlier.
The fight lasted for a while, and Zack's energy was almost exhausted; he gave the last blow to the last cricket.
The whole floor was covered in green blood. Zack leaned against a tree; he was pretty tired after such a fight. He could only smile and couldn't stop doing it; sometimes, he thought he was in his dream and would wake up without his abilities.
He lasted about 5 minutes sitting down. He was ready to run away if any monster appeared, with no more energy to spend; he would faint if he continued like this.
He began to open the bodies and remove the cores. Make this took him a while. When he finished taking them out, he went to the top of the tree. There he drank water and ate some of the supplies.
He counted the cores and currently had about 53 cores. There were eight medium cores and 45 basic cores. He was surprised not to find a high-level beast; it seems that among the crickets, there were none.
He cleaned the eight medium cores and 12 low cores. He wouldn't eat them all today. He was tired and wanted to sleep but needed to keep getting stronger; he didn't know what could happen.

He obtained a total of 94 points, but a problem happened with the last two low cores. These gave no energy.
This event was something Zack expected, but he didn't expect it to happen so soon. 'Could it be from eating too many medium cores?'
The problem is that when you consumed several cores of the same species, it would gradually stop giving points, and you would have to hunt the strongest ones of the same species or hunt elsewhere.
He decided that he would keep the remaining 33 cores to sell them to the market. These were small so that he could carry them in his backpack.
Zack lay down using one side of the backpack as a pillow; tomorrow, he would have to find a new hunting area and allocate his points.
