Alliyah
“Are we going to the stupid party or what!?” Ocean and Malcolm marched right in.
Rayne was about to whine when Alliyah kissed her in an attempt to make it look like they were just making out and discretely withdrew her fingers, her hand mostly covered by Rayne’s dress.
“I gave y’all a key for emergencies. Not to use it when there are people inside the house!”
“It is an emergency that it’s already nine, and I’m not getting hammered.” Ocean frowned.
Alliyah looked back at Rayne, a panting mess just inches away from her. Oh, how she wished she had never given a key to anyone so that she could finish the job there and then.
“We will be right down.” Alliyah said, looking at Rayne, but directed at the guys who grumpily made their way back out, this time not closing the door behind them.
After she heard them make their way down the hall, she smirked, having a wicked idea: she lifted her fingers to Rayne’s pretty lips. The shorter girl couldn’t help letting out a faint moan as she tasted herself.
“You’re sleeping over here tonight.” Alliyah declared, and without another word, she was out of the door, leaving Rayne to compose herself.
They waited for Rayne outside, near the elevator: The boys annoyed, Alliyah with a knowing smile dancing on her lips. Had she not wanted to show off her hair and her stunning girlfriend, she would have just told the guys that she and Rayne would stay home.
Alliyah used to talk to a lot of people at parties because she viewed everyone as a possible next client. Well, after her designing days were over, she saw them as potential next employers or references, so she made sure to still chat with as many people as before.

Rayne quite clearly enjoyed it even less than her, but they simply would not let go of each other. Neither of them wanted alcohol that night. Rayne loved the very sweet ‘Ghost Milkshakes’ and Alliyah mostly stuck to ‘Blood Orange Martinis’, which looked an awful lot like actual gore.
“I have to go to the bathroom, can you hold my cup, please?” Rayne asked.
“Of course, darling.”
Rayne nodded a ‘thank you’ and nearly sprinted to the bathroom. Alliyah sipped her drink through a straw as she followed her with her eyes.
The house was filled with high society members; her friends visibly stood out. Especially Malcolm’s hairy legs revealed by his short Snow White dress and the scandalous way Ocean danced with Colson, who was drinking directly from a champagne bottle.
Most of the rich people didn’t bother putting on costumes despite it being a Halloween Party. She was glad to, at least, see most people wearing expensive and extravagant suits or dresses. She was looking at an attractive older woman who wore a salmon-colored suit embezzled by what looked like diamonds and reflected light all over the house and people… When her vision was suddenly disrupted:
“What the fuck are you doing with Morticia Addams?“ Cleo roughly grabbed her arm.
“Gee, calm down, Wonder Woman. I don’t wanna turn you into stone.” Alliyah spoke smoothly despite her displeasure.
“What, you got a goth fetish now?”
The larger woman couldn’t help a snarl forming on her upper lip:
“I’m dating Rayne, and if you don’t like it, that’s not our problem.”
“It should be me! Us!”
“Well, it’s not. It’s too late.“
“It’s only late if you say you don’t want me.”
“I don’t want you.” Her words were slow and pronounced through a clenched jaw. “You had your chance, and you played with it like a cat plays with a half-dead mouse.”

“Since when do you have self-control, Alliyah?” She tried sounding smoky but didn’t fool her.
“Since you made me lose it.” Medusa snapped.
Cleo stormed off the apartment without another word, attracting the attention of other party guests. Rayne surged from the restroom:
“What is Wonder Woman’s problem?” Her eyes narrowed.
“Crazy jealous.” Alliyah chuckled sheepishly.
“Good.” Her eyes twinkled as she mischievously smirked.
What a sight, Alliyah thought.
“It’s about time she knows that you are all mine now.” Rayne wrapped her arms around her neck and kissed her gently. Alliyah smiled into her lips and almost dropped the drinks in her hands.
“Hey…” Rayne started but realized that it was too loud in the apartment.
She took Alliyah’s arm and guided her to a nearby empty balcony, which was decorated with skulls, pumpkins, bats, and skeletons.
“Is something wrong?” Alliyah furrowed her brow.
“I just want to say something.”
She sat on the fire stairs and looked down at the street where groups of kids wandered around asking for candy and egging doors that didn’t open.
Alliyah waited for her to go on, watching her intently. She removed the halo from her head.
Must be serious, Alliyah deemed.
“You know how I said that I was in a dark place when we met?”
Alliyah nodded silently.
”Well, turns out that being surrounded by nice people, and having a marvelous girlfriend does not heal your mental illness.”
Rayne let out a bitter chuckle before sighing. Alliyah set both cups down, before kneeling and taking her hand.
The angel of darkness continued:
“I just wanted to take a moment to tell you if I get a little distant, become less… Available, it is not your fault. It’s just me struggling with it.”
Rayne was avoiding eye contact at all costs, even though Alliyah was inches away from her.
“You’re my girlfriend. I’ll always be here for you, good moods, bad moods. Until the day that I die.”
She sounded so serious, she even surprised herself. Still, she did mean it. Maybe that’s what frightened her. She was going to care so deeply for the young woman in front of her for the rest of her life. It was glorious and terrifying all at once.
Was Rayne going to rip her open or reciprocate? The question hovered above her head like a dark cloud.

I Want You to Remember Me
A simple romantic tale of a... girl meeting a... boy. Trust and love both take time to grow, but growing together is also a lot of fun. A handful of disclaimers and claims: First, this is fan fiction, set in the “Amaranthine Saga” universe written by Forthright. The story and characters, on the other hand, are wholly my own (fault). I highly encourage you to read the stories from the “Amaranthine Saga” before reading this; the latter half of this story will make a whole lot more sense if you do. Second, this is a relatively short and stand-alone story. The completed story should clock in around 10,000 words, so please do not expect a novel, let alone a series. Third, while this is a romantic story, I’ve never been a fan of the usual romance “misunderstanding” tropes. Think of this as more of a romantic slice-of-life story than an action or traditional romance story. Finally, thank you for reading. :)
