《The Forsakens》An Untold Story

After the great war between the earth and the moon.
They just wanted life to be more interesting. Like the ones before them wanted. They didn't harbor any bad intentions. Just discovered a clean and harmless energy source. The deeds their grandkids would do with it have never crossed their mind.
They were not aware of what they were meddling with. Just kept investigation about the blue power stones. Sometimes in the mines, sometimes in the laboratories...
Daniel was the most curious of them. He was spending most of his time in the mines. To investigate blue power stones at their source. He was searching for a different stone.
All of the stones were sphere-shaped, shared the same size, same color, same volume. None of them was different. There have been eighty-three years since stones were discovered. Scientists called them 'the moonstone' while common folk was calling them 'the blue stone' or 'the power stone'. These stones were indestructible. No one managed to break, crush, melt or freeze them. They became the hottest research material within the science world. Daniel's father discovered a way to use them in electronic devices as a power source twenty-four years ago. It was a never-ending source. Daniel was following his father's footsteps. He was sure, there were many mysteries about the stones and determined to bring them to light. Since they were used as an energy source, all the world was funding their research.
Daniel entered the mine today too like he does many days. Yesterday they discovered a new location where there were many stones. It was so deep, Daniel had to take an oxygen tube with him. The artificial atmosphere created by them would at most support life up to forty meters of depth. These small details were not important for him as long as he finds a new thing. He reached fifty-seven meters of depth. He was excited. He already wore the oxygen mask. Had a stone powered flashlight with him. He saw thousands of power stones in the location, in the ash-colored earth of the moon. Began to drill with a drill powered by a stone. He put the flashlight to the floor. The drill got stuck. He took it out to see what caused it to stuck. Since the hole he created was dark, he directed the flashlight to it.

"Finally!" He screamed like a madman. He hurried to make the hole bigger. To reach the red stone he saw.
The last time he pulled out the drill, the red stone dropped to the floor. He kneeled down to pick up the stone. On the moment he touched the stone, it turned into powder and began to enter his hand. For a moment, he couldn't decide which one he should be; 'sad' or 'afraid'. When the stone completely got absorbed by the hand, his hand began to hurt. He was shivering with fear when he saw his changing hand. He was crying and screaming loudly; "Help!" non-stop. His hand was turning into a lava-like thing. Resembling the sun.
It was hurting him a lot. He was writhing on the ground, making meaningless sounds and shouting with all his lungs. He lost the ability to think because of the intense pain.
With his consciousness fading, his pain was getting bearable. When the change in his hand reached to his elbow. He could not hold it anymore. He got fainted by fear. While he was laying at the ground unconscious, his all body was changing to a plasma, the most unstable phase of the matter.
---
The construction of the new mines after the war was made with the sources of five countries. The thing that discovered the stone was a smart reconnaissance vehicle sent by the USA eighty-three years ago. They were seen as jewelry until a way to extract energy from them has been invented twenty-four years ago. All the world leaders competed with each other after the war happened five years ago. No country had the power and sources enough to create an artificial atmosphere in the moon alone. The USA, China, Russia, Germany and Japan made agreements between each other to make it possible.

Stones have never been found tufted numbering hundreds. Up to this day, they managed to bring two thousand stones to the earth. It was worthy to celebrate the news that came yesterday about the discovery of thousands of stones tufted. A USA company named PowerStone created a monopoly of stone trade in the USA. Everyone in the company was happy. The owner of the company who will get millions of dollars in his pocket celebrated this news with the workers, a party up to three o'clock night, drinking so much alcohol. The sun itself was still not up when he was going home but the first lights of it were seen on the horizon. The moon was still visible. When the guy reached to the front of his home, he turned around and looked at the moon.
He shouted loudly: "Thank you!". As he shouts he got frozen by the shock. Humanity's new pride, the new touristic destination for many people, visible from the earth; Mooncity was burning like hell. The very same location exploded one after another. These were huge nuclear explosions. The man wanted to believe; he drank much so he was hallucinating. He rubbed his eyes but explosions were still occurring. Began to laugh out loud. He was laughing like a madman when his tears were scattered all around. When he looked at the moon again, he began to cry. Then he began to laugh again. After a few rounds of going between laughing and crying he passed out.
After a few minutes the guy passed out, explosions at the moon began to change their starting point. It was moving away from the Mooncity if there left any. The chain of explosions was getting away from the place used to be called Mooncity leaving behind a magma-like trail and flames. It was getting away but never-ending.

Everyone that might have known human me is long dead. Anyone that finds out what I am now will almost certainly want to make me join them. I'm all alone. And I'm hungry. What the hell am I supposed to do now?

The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
