《Chameleon: My True Face》Chapter 12 - Miss Guan

'Finally…'
Hearing the approaching footsteps, Wuxing sighed in relief as that was the cue for him to cease his attempts of taking the bullet out of his shoulder wound. Truth be told, he never actually put his dirty fingers inside the open wound, but rather, pretended that he did instead. After all, he wasn't an idiot. Getting an infection wasn't part of the plan.
As Wuxing looked up to see the newcomers, he saw five people speeding towards them. Two of them were dressed in clean white medical cloaks buttoned up from head to toe. The lady running in front of the group was much more casual, having her medical cloak unbuttoned while wearing a white wool dress underneath it. The last two were guards holding their rifles ready to protect the medics.
"Where are you putting your dirty fingers? Do you want to get an infection?!"
The lady cursed angrily at Wuxing the moment she neared him. For her, aside from trying to stop the blood leaking, this prisoner shouldn't do anything else and leave the rest to the experts. It would be catastrophic to act otherwise.
The moment she crouched in front of him, the white-cloaked lady didn't waste any more time and tore the rest of his bloody shirt so she could examine the wounds.
Looking at the current situation, Wuxing decided to change his plan. It was easy to see that this lady wasn't the type to be easily tricked. In her almond-shaped eyes, he could see that she wasn't any common weak female, but one with a tough character.
While he observed her, she had already started cleaning the wound on his shoulder. As there was a high chance that this injured prisoner would bleed out by the time they reached the medical building, she opted to operate on the field.
Wuxing knew that as long as the bullet wasn't taken out, its sharp edges would continue to rip apart his muscles with each movement, and apparently, this lady doctor knew it too. She ordered her assistants for sterilized medical tools that they then quickly prepared on a metal tray.
"I'm fine. I can pull the bullet myself…" Wuxing smiled as he reached out his hand to stop her, but his hand was only slapped away before he was cursed at again.

"Shut up! Lay him down flatly on the stretcher and hold him tightly so he doesn't move! I will pull the bullet out before he bleeds out!"
"Yes, Miss Guan!"
Her assistants nodded like chickens and looked quite happy as they carried out her orders. From their faces, one could see that they felt extremely blessed to be working with this lady doctor.
Wuxing didn't resist this time as he knew there was no point so he let them lift him up and lay down on the prepared stretcher. With a small bag underneath his head to prep him up, he could see exactly what the lady doctor was doing. What's more, he actually took a closer look at her entire face, which he normally didn't do as most of the time, he would simply remember specific and distinguishing features to identify people.
Miss Guan, as the lady doctor was called by others, was actually a very pretty young woman. She was nowhere near his ideal General Crimson Devil, whose fairy-like beauty made him fall in love at the first sight, but this Miss Guan could still appear in the top of his list of pretty faces.
Her long hair was black, partially tied in a single ponytail at the back, with the rest softly tumbling with elegance at the front which she had a habit of putting behind her ears. The hair on the sides wasn't long enough to be put into the ponytail, but her appearance worked perfectly as they added a beautiful mixture of sweet and spicy feeling to the serious look on her face. Her almond coloured eyes glittered with confidence above the haughty slope of her nose. There was a sense of assurance around her which made one calm down and it made her do her job in peace.
She looked quite tall, being only a few centimetres shorter than Wuxing from his estimates, and definitely younger than him, still having signs of youthful energy. Her surname suggested that she was from the same regions as him, but her silken porcelain skin and general beauty suggested that one of her parents was definitely of a different race.
"Gather the blood with gauze," Miss Guan ordered as she wiped her forehead with her forearm. "I will start pulling out the bullet."

Her gloves were already covered in blood. She had cut Wuxing's skin around the wound with a scalpel as the bullet was too small yet it was embedded too deeply, making it difficult for her to access and find the piece of metal.
With the wound widened, blood was flowing much faster than before, but there was nothing she could do other than to increase the speed of her long-fingered hands which seemed to be fluttering swiftly all over his injured shoulder.
Afterwards, Miss Guan picked the forceps from the tray of surgical instruments, and she determinedly hovered over Wuxing's chest again to get a better look at the cut she made. Her position was quite awkward—with him on the ground, the elevation was already not ideal. At the same time, she also needed to give access to her assistants to help her clean the excess blood from the wound. Seeing their expressions, they didn't look to be happy with her approaching and treating a male patient with such proximity, but they had no say in what she was doing as it was part of their job.
As she leaned over, Wuxing's eyes were suddenly presented with a beautiful sight, nothing other than her ample bust showing out of her dress. Her white wool dress had a deep enough cut under her neck which revealed part of her breasts the moment she bent over him. The angle even bestowed him a view of her white lacy bra.
For a straight and healthy male like Wuxing, it was definitely a sight worthy of looking and appreciating. Unfortunately, he wasn't in a situation where he could afford to divide his attention.
He wished he could temporally cut off the nerve connections around the wound to eliminate the pain completely, but he was worried if under the watch of this keen-eyed lady doctor, he could make it believable enough to not raise suspicions.
He had already moved the bullet a little bit more near the surface so Miss Guan could find it easily, but he still couldn't help but grit his teeth as he felt the forceps open the wound without any painkillers.
"I got it! You are lucky the bullet was pushed out by the gushing blood. I can't see any other fragments so you should be safe to transport now." Miss Guan smiled for the first time since she got here, seeing that this provisional operation actually ended up being successful. She then turned to her assistants. "He should survive until we move him to the hospital ward to continue the operation."
"Yes! Miss Guan is amazing as always," one of the assistants praised her and was about to take over the sealing of the wound when the lady doctor pushed him away, saying, "What are you doing? Go help the second guy! I will finish with this one myself."
"Oh! There is another patient?" her assistants both exclaimed before searching around them.
"I'm here…" the miner weakly called out. Only then did they realize that there was indeed another person laying a few meters away from them. As they went out to help the miner, Miss Guan started closing the wound with a special bandage that would immediately stop the bleeding.
"Okay, turn to your sides. I will fix the second wound," Miss Guan said after she added enough dressing onto his shoulder and moved towards his stomach. Previously, she had already noticed that this injured prisoner had a blood-soaked bandage on his lower torso, but she had no idea whether it was also from a gunshot or caused by another weapon. However, since it had been temporarily dealt with, she opted to remove the bullet on the unattended shoulder first.
Wuxing smiled weakly as the pain wasn't unbearable for him anymore which allowed him a moment to breathe. "Thanks… If you could also correct the one at the back, I would be grateful…"
"At the back?" Miss Guan asked, confused, and only after she helped him turn to the side did she curse, "Fuck! Couldn't tell us that you had a two-end gunshot wound?! How much pain did you go through by laying on it this whole time…"

Grey Worlds
A mysterious incident occurred on a otherwise normal science centered world where all of the children from the age range of eight to sixteen suddenly vanished. “Where have their kids gone and will they ever return?” The now childless parents never got to really ask that question, because a strange new element replaced their lost children. This element slowly mutated the various animals that they once ruled over with their technology to the point that they were immune to their modern weaponry. The barren land of savages on a continent far away from theirs also had their children taken, but they easily mutated just like the beasts and only grew stronger thanks to the incident. A revolution of animals eventually took place after the mutations started to cause the animals to understand just how badly the humans ruined their lives and planet. Humans were the slowest to figure out how to use this strange new element to evolve, while their opponents were evolving and growing stronger by the day they couldn’t even surpass their modern technology. When humanity was on the brink of extinction a long forgotten event finally ended and their children finally started to return from the various worlds they were summoned to! It turns out that the mysterious new element that they didn’t know what to call was mana and that it’s everywhere in some fantasy planets. The children brought back a increase in technology and techniques to grow stronger with, which caused the humans to finally be able to build safe havens for their race. They grew stronger and started to finally adapt to their brand new environment. This is the story of a orphan who was taken away from his world, before he could gain a sense of attachment to the world. Who only has his older sister to care about and how he ends up adapting to the new world in front of him.------------------Dog notes by doggo First 'five' chapters aren't what the story is really about and is more of a prologue. The reason why some are separated into parts is because Doggo originally posted them as a entire chapter. The main setting is Ghost's actual world and not any foreign world. So this story was already posted once to another site or this site three years ago… and Dog is finally ending that three year hiatus! The explanation on why Dog was on a three year hiatus would of been written in the review section, but rrl doesn't allow self reviews. I'd have to create a alt just to self review which they obviously don't want even tho I'd not give myself any stars so its going to be here instead. The update schedule is a chapter a week till Dog get a editor and then two chapters a week till Dog gets enough money to pay for Dog’s bills. The final goal is to release a chapter every other day. Dog writes 4k word chapters so they are about twice as long as some of the other authors so every other day is actually more like once a day. ------------------- The part that was supposed to be the 'review' which Dog wont bother editing out repeat infomation since it wasn't supposed to go here in the first place. The first thing Dog will go over is what changed for the first 5 chapters, so that anyone who still remembers Dog's little novel and wants to continue from where Dog originally left off can decide whether or not to reread it. Also Dog is moving over to qidan simply because dog like the app they have. Dog won't go premium even if Qidan tells dog to and will simply move back to royalroad or create a blog. The things that changed over the years are mainly two important things. The first is that Dog changed the first person point of view to a third person, because Dog read a really bad first person novel and it reminded dog of dogs own novel. Dog also changed the thoughts of the character to be - - instead of italics. Finally dog changed chapter 3 completely to make the mc not seem like a homicidal maniac and introduced a important character in chapter 3.What happened to do in the three years that dog was away? Was dog at college and now needs money to eat? Was dog off in space after successfully becoming a astronaut and has now returned home with a completed novel or two? The answer is actually quite plain dog graduated from highschool and was supposed to only spend a year at dogs owners house to choose what major dog wanted to go to college for.Dog didn't do that and is still stuck with dogs owners and is sick of being a neet. Dog wants to move and buy doggy food, but dog is antisocial and doesn't want to work a simple 9 to 5 job for the rest of dogs life. Dog is a reader before dog is a author and the reason why dog got into writing was because dog wanted to write a novel without all the things dog finds annoying. Dog spent the first year reading various novels and dropping various novels. Dog is all caught up and has to much free time on dogs paws. The first year that Dog took off was the very same year that qidan came out so dog was naturally overloaded with free chapters. But now that pemium exists dog naturally has to limit the amount dog can read. Dog is addicted to reading like my very own readers and can understand your frustrations for dog disappearing for 3 years.Dog decided that dog will go back to writing 2 years ago. Dog wanted a decent stockpile incase dog has any other emergency so dog didn't post for a year but then dog decided to change the point of view which took another year.Dog has a patreon page https://www.patreon.com/mclaindog but there isn't any tiers there or goals till dog gets a editor. My final goal is to release a chapter every other day, but as long as Dog gets a editor Dog will do two free chapters a week.Dog will probably also make a kofi for anyone who just wants to send dog a tip and can't afford to donate money monthly while maybe having bonus chapters if the tip jar gets filled.
