《God Slaying System》Prologue: Betrayal!
It's been a month since the start of 'The Heavenly Domain'. This is a VRMMORPG game which has been able to turn the whole world upside down.
There had been many other VRMMORPG games but, none could even stand a chance against this one. Many people had also already started commenting on it and even the Gaming Hunters ( The Gaming community Leaders ) have accepted it as the second world.
This world had everything that a person could not experience in their real life. Dragons, monsters, leveling, quests, dungeons, bosses, etc could all be found in this particular game.
This even had a Heaven's Judgement system which would further enhance the experience of playing this game. The Heaven's Judgement system was the one thing responsible for the massive success of The Heavenly Domain.
After playing for a while, people could even forget that they were playing a game. It was just so amazing and the environment in this game was the best. Until now, all the VRMMORPG games had already shut down and every big company had invested in this game.
Right now, there would be hardly any person who would not play this game and there would be absolutely no one who didn't know about it.
Also, the amount of money one could earn by playing this game had already surpassed the monthly salary of white collar workers by far. So, many people had actually quit their jobs to start playing this game.
But, only those who had enough skills and were considered top-tier experts could earn a huge amount of money. Others would only get some little percentage of what they earned.
So, many people had worked hard day and night to play this game and improve their levels and skills.
The Heavenly Domain had different continents, nations, and cities. It varied according to the place from where the user had logged in from. But, they could also move to the other places after a while of playing The Heavenly Domain.
In the Blue Sky City, there was a certain man walking down the way towards the Adventurers guild. Looking at his appearance, he was a man of age around 25.
Seeing this man walk, many players had even left their way opening a clear path for him. This man was no other than Issac the star of Blue Sky City. He was level 20 and was equipped with level 15 Silver rank equipment.
These equipment gave a certain shine that felt like glowing. And, anyone looking at the equipment he was wearing, they could tell it was a Silver rank set.
All items, equipment and weapons in the game could be ranked into 7 ranks. Bronze, Iron, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Purple Diamond and Legendary were the ranks with Bronze being the weakest and Legendary being the strongest.
There were also the rumored Divine rank items which could be considered a game shattering item but, even a legendary item could not be found even after searching a whole nation upside down not to mention a divine one.
He also had a Two-handed sword that hung on his back that radiated shine like no other weapon that anyone had ever seen. This was no other than the 'Sword of Heroes' that could only be obtained after clearing the Diamond ranked quest "The Soul of a Hero".
After the release of The Heavenly Domain, this Diamond ranked quest had been available to only some players in The Heavenly Domain and Issac was one of the few lucky players who had obtained it.
The players looked at the Two-handed Sword like a weapon that had descended the mortal lands from heaven itself. If not for the fact that the person before them was Issac the top-tier expert of their city, they would have already tried to attack the person for the sword.

This sword is an upgradable item which was currently a level 20 Gold ranked weapon. It could already be considered the best weapon in all of Blue Star Kingdom. It could also be upgraded up to level 90, Diamond rank.
Most of the players right now were level 17 in average and those who had reached level 20 could already be considered a top-tier expert. Among them, Issac was one of them. He was already level 20 and had also completed a quest that only top-tier experts could complete.
After reaching the adventurers guild, Issac looked at the ranking board. He gave a sigh of relief after looking at it.
The ranking board that could be seen at the adventurers guild could show the top rankings of the Blue Sky City according to the players level. Issac's name was at the top 1 with a level of 20 and the other people inside of the top 10 were far beyond him.
They were just reaching level 18 while Issac stood over them with the number 20 at the very top in the ranking list. Issac was also the reason why his guild Dominators had gained control over the Blue Sky city.
But, with all the success and admiration he was getting, there were also many who envied him and would kill him if they got the chance. If not for him, the other guild in Blue Sky city wouldn't have to give up on being the overlord of this city. But, everyone was too scared to go up against him.
Once a guild had tried to go up against him sending 50 of their assassins to kill him secretly but, they had failed miserably and also had been destroyed by Dominators.
Although dying in the game didn't mean dying in real life, it would result in a huge setback and the players would also lose a level and some pieces of the equipment they were wearing after dying.
So, many people didn't choose to recklessly attack a stronger expert as they may wage out an all out war and massacre their whole guild.
They could only silently give way to Dominators to become the rulers of Blue Sky City. Even the first rate guilds like Night Sky and Eternal Youth couldn't fight against them.
Issac looked at his communication panel after finding a place to sit in the adventurers guild. The adventurers guild was a public guild where players from any guild and even independent players or lone wolves would come to get some quests that would increase their reputation and also award them with coins, equipment and weapons.
A message had just arrived from his guild leader. Although, most of the time, Issac would work alone, he had to play a part while running through dungeons and helping some elite members of their guild level up.
'Meet me at the Valley of a thousand spirits'
Issac looked at the message with a shocked expression in his face. Even if he was considered a top-tier expert, his guild leader had just invited him to level 25 dungeon.
Leveling in The Heavenly Domain was extremely hard and time consuming as it required a lot of exp to level up. So, Issac didn't want to risk his life going through the dungeon which was meant for level 25 players.
But, he didn't have any choice as the guild leader was the one who had contacted him and also had hired him to this guild.
The guild had also promised to pay him a good amount of money every month. His monthly salary was $200 k dollars which was pretty good for an ordinary expert but, for a top-tier expert like him, this was very low.

But, he had agreed to the conditions of his guild leader Black Star as he needed a lot of money for the operation of his mother. Also the doctors from the hospitals have told him that if he didn't get the money by this week, he would not see his mother's smiling face again.
So, Black Star was the first one who had associated contact with him and as he needed a lot of money he had to agree to Black Star's terms and conditions.
Today was also the day when he would receive his payment, so he was very happy. After all that grinding he did and made Dominators the rulers of Blue Sky City, he had deserved this payment.
He hurried towards the Valley of a thousand spirits to discuss his payment with the guild leader. He went through the city which was surrounded by houses that looked like the designs of the medieval period and went towards the forest where the dungeon lied.
***
"Guild leader Black Star. I also wanted my payment to be transferred as of today as we had agreed a month ago." Issac tells as he approaches Black Star.
"Oh yes. I will have it transferred to you after we finish raiding this dungeon." Black Star replied to his concerns after he saw Issac arrive.
Listening to Black Star's words, Issac got even more motivated to clear this dungeon. Even if he had very low chances of success, he wanted to do it and gain the money for the treatment of his mother.
He then looked around his team, his team had a total of 18 players. 4 Shield Warriors, 3 Assassins, 1 Swordsman, 2 Berserkers, 2 Rangers, 3 Healers and 3 Mage. Including himself a Swordsman and Black Star a Berserker they had a total of 20 group members here.
The average level of their group was 17 and everyone of them was from the main team of Dominators. Looking at them, he felt that they were serious about this dungeon raid, so he also prepared his best equipment for this raid.
"Lets Go!!"
After everyone got ready, Black Star clicked on the Enter the Dungeon option. At the moment they were going inside the dungeon, Black Star had an evil looking grin on his face as if he had planned something evil.
Everyone got teleported to the inside of the Valley of a thousand spirits. They all looked around as they were surrounded by trees from all over the place that had blue glowing lights instead of leaves.
The whole sky was dark as it was always night time over here in this dungeon. If not for the trees, they wouldn't be able to see anything that was around them.
They marched forward in a proper formation with Issac taking the lead while Black Star was behind with the other Mages and healers. The assassins, possessing high agility, had already spread out over a large area to gather information about their surroundings.
Suddenly, one assassin told them about the route that leads to the boss room. Issac was a little confused as the Valley of a thousand spirits was really large and pinpointing the location of the boss would be really hard.
Although there was no proper route leading them to the boss room, the boss room was at the center of the whole valley.
They went along the path that the assassin had told them about as the 3 Shield Warriors took the lead as they possessed the most amount of HP and could play the role of MTs. Suddenly, a sound of a creature moving came from the bushes that were at the bottom of the trees.
There was a lot of bush covering the whole area, so they couldn't exactly pinpoint the location of this creature.
Also, it was exceedingly fast and had a really high agility. Looking at this, Issac thought that this was an elite rank monster. Also, meeting a level 25 elite monster was really dangerous even with all of them and a single mistake could cost a party wipe situation. So, he took his position as he calmly analyzed his surrounding
Suddenly, a range of movements was heard from behind them. Issac used Ground Leap as he kicked the ground below him and leaped into the air while doing a black flip. All this time, he was really focused on the elite monster and got all the info while in midair.
Spirit of War Wolf ( Level 28, Elite Ranked Monster )
HP - 30,000
Even Issac was shocked looking at its HP. Not only did it have really high speed but, it also had so much HP.
It was also level 28. Issac felt death looming over him as he saw the stats.
Issac then quickly used Lightning Strike while in mid air as he aimed towards the ground. This method did even more damage than just simply using Lightning Strike while on ground as the force of impact increased.
Lightning Strike!
In a split second, Lux who was in mid air charged at the ground hitting the War Wolf before it could attack the healers. Taking such a damage, it retreated backwards as a damage of -700 appeared above its head.
Issac quickly gave a faint smile. He was right as it possessed such a frightening speed and high HP, the game had balanced it out by making its defense really weak.
While this attack did around -400 damage to other elite ranked monsters, it had done -700 damage to this War Wolf which was nearly its double. Also, the lightning had a paralyzing effect that lasted about 3 seconds once it successfully landed.
Using this time, Issac hit it with every high damage skill in his arsenal. Before the last second could go out, he used Hero Strike which caused a stunning effect on monsters. This effect usually lasted about 3 seconds as well.
Although, Issac's normal attack didn't do much damage, his skills did a lot.
"Strike it with me, don't just stand and watch there," Issac shouted as he hit the War Wolf continuously, his normal attack doing -100 damage with a few critical hits doing -170 damage.
After his stun duration ended, the War Wolf quickly retreated a few steps while using Shadow Step. In the duration of these 6 seconds, Issac had already reduced it's HP down by 50%.
Looking at this, even his group members were amazed. Although they had known he was a strong player, they didn't know he was so powerful.
"Why didn't you use any skills or help me when I was attacking it. If we attacked it together it might have even died." Issac scolded his team for not attacking with him. but, they didn't say anything as it was all a part of their hideous plan.
Right now, the speed of this War Wolf was even faster than Issac's eye could catch it the next moment, he was struck by the War Wolf as a damage of -700 appeared above his head. He had over 5000 HP and his defense was also great but, he didn't expect the War Wolf to deal such a large damage.
"Quickly heal me" Issac shouted as he received another strike from the War Wolf. Now, he only had 4000 HP.
But, even with him shouting for help, he did not receive one. The War Wolf then used Death Scratch as it tried to strike Issac.
Issac, clearly looking at the War Wolf's movements, tried to use Guardian Shield over himself but, before he could use the skill, he was struck by 3 assassins at once as he was paralyzed for 5 seconds.
Their strike also dealt a massive damage of over -1000.
"What??" Issac looked over to his own group who had struck him.
Before he could even react, the War Wolf struck him using its skill Death Scratch. A collateral damage of -2000 was seen above Issac's head as he felt a cold stare coming from his guild leader.
'Damn it!!! I was tricked!!!'
At this moment, he wanted to shout and kill all these group members behind him but, as his HP had already fallen to 0, his body slowly dissipated from existence.
'I will take my revenge once I get up again.' Issac thought as his body dissipated. He was really mad at this activity. He who had done his best and made Dominators the rulers of Blue Sky City was betrayed by them ? He couldn't accept such a thing.
It would take about 10 minute after death to return to the city. He was teleported to the guild hall of Dominators after dying at the Valley of a thousand spirits.
Without even thinking about anything else, He then opened his inventory to see what was dropped after he died. Losing a level was inevitable but, he was more concerned about the items then his level as it was more precious.
When he saw his inventory, he could not believe his eyes.
He could not even say a word after seeing the situation before him. Truly, he was really dumb to not check the death penalty of the valley of a thousand spirits.
The death penalty at the valley of the thousand spirits was really cruel.
And also, he realized that they had selected the Ultra Hell mode for this dungeon. They had it all planned from the start.
All his equipment and weapons he had equipped along with some other items was not present on his inventory right now. They all had dropped on death the moment he died.
That was the reason he was not healed, that was the reason they didn't support him but instead took him to the valley of a thousand spirits.
At this moment, he felt that something in his chest break. Everything he did had turned to ash. He then realized that he had not even made an official contract with Black Star.
This was an even more serious problem than anything else.
He was just a swordsman who was level 19 and no more. Even a level 10 person could beat him with ease as he was right now. Then, he heard the voice of his group members teleporting to the guild hall right now.
"Haha, Now, let's enjoy ourselves as we have made a fortune" Black Star said as he hung the Sword of Heroes on his back.

This isn't my first attempt at writing a story, and it isn't even my first attempt at writing this particular story, but I'm not in any way what I would call "experienced". I decided to upload my writing here because I just wanted to get my ideas out there, and I wanted to get some constructive criticism for my writing from the RRL community. All comments are welcome, but please try to keep them positive and constructive! If you leave a rating, I would appreciate it if you left a short explanation of what you liked and what I can improve on. I'll be uploading each chapter as I finish them, but this is still the first draft so anything and everything is subject to change. The cover art is drawn by me, but I'm in no way married to it. I just wanted something that showed the three magical sources, as I picture them in my head. If you do any art based on this story, send it to me! I would love to see it. I'll stop talking now, I hope you enjoy the story!
