《Gaia : Legend of Merlin》Volume 2, Chapter 7 - The Council of Magic

After celebrating his daughter's long awaited return from her 'training', Nevil was stoked to see her safe and sound without any major injuries. However, his happiness was short lived as his daughter told them about the people with dragon insignia.
Since the Council were currently investigating fluctuations in the flow of magic inside the forest, the appearance of an unknown group was an information worth looking into. As such, the next day he went to the Grand Magus' tower after breakfast, calling his fellow council members for a meeting.
Although he was a renowned Arch-Mage of the Council of Magic, Nevil enjoyed walking to the institute without the use of magic. He went to the store he regularly went to, buying a couple of buns for his friends in the Council.
Reaching the gates of the institute, he saw an elf standing near it. It was Luna, a fellow member who was waiting for him. Seeing him, she waved her hand and called to him.
"Hey! Nevil. How was your daughter's return?" she said.
"Ah Luna, so you could come." replied Nevil. "She grew a lot, you know, we were both happy to see her return." he continued.
"Well, you said it was something important so how could I miss it. Anyways how's your wife?" asked Luna.
"You know how she is." answered Nevil.
"So same as ever." said Luna as she laughed. " But then again that's what's great about her."
"Haha, yeah. Come let us go, the others are probably waiting for us." said Nevil as they both walked towards the tower.
On their way to the tower, Nevil asked ,"How's the situation at the Lunar clan?"
"Ah well, nothing much has changed. They're still constantly at odds with the Solis clan." replied Luna with a deep sigh.
"That's troublesome." said Nevil.
"Yeah, they won't listen to me saying it's 'tradition' to be in conflict with each other. I mean I understand that we are complete opposites of each other but continuing a conflict because our founders hated each other is stupid." said Luna.
As they continued their conversation about the two opposing clans, a short time later they reached the tower.
"Hmm, been a while since I last entered this tower." remarked Luna as they both entered.
Standing on the vertical platform, they quickly went up to the 10th floor where the Council Room was located. Inside, the other council members were waiting for them.
"Now that all 10 members are present, let us commence the meeting." said Galius, the leader of the Council.
Hearing this Nevil and Luna quickly went to their seats and sat down.

"Let us begin with the situation in Invictus." said Galius.
Standing up, Luna responsible for the monitoring of Invictus started giving her observations of the area ,"As you all know, I've been dealing with this for more than a decade now. And recently I've spent the past 3 months there monitoring the changes in the state. The two clans present there - the Solis and Lunar clan are still deep in each other's throats. Although not as much as it used to be, they're still not willing to get past their differences and each day small conflicts between the two still keep rising."
"Has your influence with the Lunar clan changed even by a bit?" asked Elfilna.
"Yes, some of the young ones from my clan have started to support me. However not much impact can be made when the Solis clan won't even allow an outsider to meet with them." replied Luna.
"Hai hai hai, even after telling them the impact their conflict has on their land. They still won't listen." said Muradin scratching his head, confused with the situation.
"Hmm, how about coming up with a way to resolve their conflict. Like maybe a yearly competition where fighters from each side engage in a non-deadly combat." said Baal in a rather lackluster manner.
"That...is actually not a bad idea. Letting them set aside their hatred for most of the year except for 1 day where they will let it out." continued Martin.
"Although letting them duke it out in some sort of a competition yearly doesn't sound that bad, the hard part will be convincing the Solis clan elders. I'm sure the Lunar clan can be convinced one way or the other." remarked Luna.
"Anyone here who thinks they can convince the Solis clan?" asked Galius.
"Not me, since I'm sure they're mad with me being the one to point out their destruction of their land." said Nevil while raising his hand.
Silence followed as they knew the Solis clan was one to not mess with. Considering they're one of the strongest clans in the world, it wasn't strange for the Council to be wary of their actions against them.
And among the wary and cautious Arch-Mages, one hand was raised.
"I can try." offered Cú Chulainn, the only individual in history to be given the title of Arch-Mage without being an actual mage.
"If it's you, there's a chance it might work." said Galius.
"Do they even know you're a member?" asked Muradin.
"I don't think so." replied Cú Chulainn.
"So it will be like a surprise attack for them eh? Not bad." said Hel.

"What about you. What do you think, Tang?" asked Galius.
"It will work." answered simply by the blind monk of the council.
"If Tang says so, then let's give it a try." said Luna.
"So we all agree to let Cú Chulainn deal with the Solis clan?" asked Galius.
"Yes." the rest replied.
"Good. Now then, Let us get to the main reason we are here now." said Galius.
"Now it's my turn huh. Well, first of all it's nice to see all of you here. The reason why I called you here today is concerning the magical fluctuations in our surroundings. I know most of us staying inside the city are looking into it without any clear results yet. Anyways, most of you probably know that my daughter, Merlin has returned from her 'training' from the forest and yesterday, she said something which really caught my eye. She told me that she saw people with dragon insignias on their backs. And let me tell you this, don't you think it seems like the Dragon Bloods have been revived?" said Nevil standing up from his seat. "Oh, and before you ask, my daughter is unable to lie because of her inborn ability." he continued.
"I was just about to ask that." said Muradin.
"Dragon Bloods? Aren't they the dragon worshippers that got wiped out during the Angelic War?" asked Elfilna.
"That was more than 5000 years ago though. I mean the exact time is unknown since the Akashic Record itself seems to be unsure of the date. But still, why now?" questioned Baal.
"Now now, we aren't even sure who they are yet so let's not jump to conclusions." stated Martin.
"Martin's right. Those are just my speculations since they seem to be hiding their actions very well. However what I find strange is that the Dragons don't seem to know about this." followed Nevil.
"Yeah, the Dragons don't allow the use of any imagery related to them. Ah, how about one of us go and meet the Dragon King regarding this matter." suggested Hel, smiling intently.
"That's... gonna be hard, Hel. You know how prideful and isolated they are, rarely engaging in worldly matters. Well, that is apart from dealing with people who use their imagery for different purposes." said Galius.
"But still we have to do something about it. If the fluctuation continues it will not just corrupt the Abzi forest but spread to the other states as well. And considering how the corrupted creatures behave, it will also destroy the ecosystem. Since our only lead right now is this mysterious group, I suggest we do as Hel says and go to the land of the Dragons." said Nevil.
"I'm sure we would all love to go there, but just wanted to remind you that I have to deal with the Solis clan." Cú Chulainn reminded(?) them.
"Don't worry even if you were free we wouldn't send you there? Well, considering your reputation with them it would be a bad idea overall." said Galius.
"I will go." requested Tang.
"Hmmm, are the monks in good relations with them?" asked Galius.
"Yes, you don't need to worry." answered Tang.
"Then do we all agree with sending Tang?" asked Galius.
"Yes." they all answered.
"Then with this, let us end this meeting." said Galius, as he stood up and went out of the room straight to his research room.
Now that the meeting has ended, the rest of the members also stopped acting formally.
"Well guys, gotta go back to the palace." said Baal, who was the minister of the Demons, as he teleported using the portal they installed in the room.
"Hah, that guy's always busy ain't it. So Nevil, what are you gonna do now?" said Muradin.
"Well, might as well investigate the area where those people were spotted, after asking Merlin the location." replied Nevil.
"Busy as always aren't you. What about you Luna?" asked Muradin.
" Hmm, I guess I will return to the Lunar clan and inform them about today's discussion." said Luna. " Oh, also Cú, come follow me. Its much faster to travel with me since they have no portals." She continued.
"Okay, coming." said Cú.
"See you guys later." said Luna as the two went out the room.
During this conversation, Tang was also in a conversation with Hel.
"So you want to join me?" asked Tang as Hel stood in front of him.
"Yes, hehe. This will be my first time seeing Dragons so please let me follow you." requested Hel with a smile.
Looking down at her eyes filled with mystery, Tang answered ,"Ok then. However, don't cause any trouble."
"Yay. Don't worry, with you around there us no way for me to cause trouble." said Hel.
"Hmm, you're not wrong. Two days from now we meet at Harrowbrow." said Tang.
"Sure. Then see you soon." said Hel as she too exited the room.
And like this the meeting of the Council of Magic ended, with Cú Chulainn given the task of convincing the Solis clan and Tang with the responsibility of meeting the Dragons for discussion.
