《reincarnated adversaries》Chapter 4: Let it go!

“Please don't go too far sister in law. I was just teaching little Felix a lesson as his older uncle,” Gallio said trying to calm the situation down. He knew how strong she was but wasn't really afraid. He had never really been afraid ever since the day he was born, he was the son of a Roman senator after all.
Faleria let go of his neck and helped him brush off the dust from his clothes as she said, “then let me educate you as your older sister-in-law.” She put her hands on his chest and pushed him so hard he shot backward like a bullet and hit the wall with a force strong enough to destroy it.
Faleria then turned around and saw her husband and brother-in-law run towards them with a couple of guards beside them. She had not lost her temper like this ever since the great war and only came back to her sense after she saw her children and husband stand there next to the door. “You ever touch my child again and ill kill you, no matter who your father is,” she said as she brushed the dust off her clothes and slowly walked back to her husband.
Paulus and Herius hearing this understood the situation and turned around to look at Felix and saw the bruises on his face. Paulus walked over to his son and kneeled next to him and checked upon him. He was not a healer like his brother but every soldier knew the basics so he knew instantly that the boy's nose was broken. He asked him how he was doing as he took out a small healing potion which a commoner would have to work his whole life for to pay and gave it to Felix to drink. “Drink this, it will heal you and take away the pain instantly,” he said with a warm smile on his face.
He waited for Felix to drink the potion and saw his face heal instantly before he stood up and turned around to face his younger brother who by now had stood up and composed himself. “You should thank your sister-in-law for punishing you instead of me,” Paulus said as he stared at him with cold eyes. He himself who was the boy's father had never put a finger on his, how did he dare to touch his child.
“And what exactly were you doing to do?” Gallio said with contempt in his voice. “I have stayed quiet until now and obeyed as I know you have the family's best interest at heart brother. But don't let an empty title as acting magistrate go to your head brother,” Gallio said as he fearlessly stared back at his brother. He may be the youngest son but he was also the son of his father's third wife who was the favorite daughter of another senator which made him the son and grandson of two senators. This made him politically far the most powerful than Paulus.

Paulus wanted to say something but was cut off by Herius who tried to calm the situation down. “Let's not go any further today, Felix has been healed and Gallio has been punished,” he said as he walked towards his youngest brother and made a face to tell him to shut up. He knew that neither one could really do anything to each other but the last thing he wanted was infighting. He was the one running the household and it would be him who would have the most headache.
Paulus broke eye contact and looked back down at little Felix and jokingly said, “don't worry about it little guy, I got so many beatings from my uncle when I was your age I can't even remember the number. Why don't you and your brother go to the living room, me and your mother will be right there.”
He tried to walk away but was stopped by Felix who stopped him by pulling at his pants and looked really scared.
“What is it little man?” he kneeled back down again and asked in a loving voice.
Felix knew the time was here, this was the moment he had waited for. He had only dared to do all this because of the evidence he had collected or better said, had been giving to him on a silver platter. He had been surprised when it happened for the first time, but the fool had made a habit out of doing it. If only he was not born as a swimmer but with the same background and status as this fool, he thought.
“Dad, do you remember the time you taught big brother and my martial arts?” He asked making sure he sounded as scared and cute as possible. He waited for his father to nod his head and continued, “I was really sad that big brother could do it so easily but I couldn't so I decided to practice in my room. I asked teacher Sisenna and he told me that using a memory stone to see what I was doing wrong,” he continued making sure to shed a couple of tears for the presentation.
Paulus nodded his head and wanted to say something before he saw Felix clearly frightened put his hand in his pocket and take out a small memory stone he had stored Hand hand it over to him. e wanted to ask what this was about but decided against it, he knew his son and this was clearly about more than basic training. He inserted his spirit force into the memory stone and saw his son standing there training basic martial arts and could not help laugh a little, how could someone be so bad at even the most simple techniques.

He fast-forwarded a couple of times before he saw a banging at the door. What he saw next shocked him completely, it was Gallio who entered the room completely drunk. He walked inside not able to walk straight and said, “come here, little nephew.” He reached for little Felix who had not moved the entire time and picked him up from the ground by his little white toga and said, “every day I say to myself that I should love you as you are a part of her, but for some reason the more I see you the more I hate you.” He then threw the boy back on the ground and walked back towards the exit almost tripping over a couple of times. As he reached the door he turned around and said, “the day will come when the senate will give the order for another war, and then I will have my revenge.” He then fell on his knees and started to cry like a baby as he cried repeatedly, “my poor little sister what did they do to you.”
Paulus waited a couple more seconds before he left the memory stone as there was nothing more to see. He was fuming with anger and turned around locking eyes with Gallio as he released his killing intent and said, “You dare!” He pointed his finger to the man and released an attack Felix could only describe as a lightning beam.
Gallio reacted without fear and simply reflected the attack as he shook his head and said, “this is the second time you attack me brother, I won't hold back the next time.” He then continued, “I don't know what that snake showed you but I'm clearly surprised, he clearly is more cunning and conniving than I ever thought.”
“You dare to go to my son's room and threaten him when I'm not around. I don't have the power to banish you but I do have the right to release you from this house as the acting magistrate. Pack your stuff and leave,” Paulus said not showing any mercy. If only he had known sooner what kind of a snake his little brother was.
“You said it perfectly yourself brother, acting,” Gallio said as he vanished from the room without any trace left which shocked everyone. Specially Herius was shocked, he never knew his younger brother was this powerful.
It made him a little sad to know his two younger brothers had left him this far behind and one of the two would most likely be the next senator of Rome after their father passed away.
“I want to be alone,” Paulus said as he threw the memory stone to Herius knowing he would bombard him with questions. So everyone did, except his wife and brother.
Felix walked back to eat breakfast happier than ever. He didn't have the chance to kill him but that was the great thing about chances, you would always get others.
He was enjoying the moment when he heard someone say from behind him, “don't think I don't know what you are doing.”
“And what's that?” He asked as he turned around and smiled as he saw that it was Vel.
“You can manipulate others but not me Abbas,” Vel said almost knowing sure it was him. No six-year-old had the ability to do what he had done and only fools believed in coincidences.
“So you finally admit you know who I'm? Good, now we can move on with our lives cant we?” Felix said returning the cheeky smile.
“I won't let you get away with this.”
“Get away with what?” Felix asked confused. He pointed back towards the room and continued, “the memory stone is inside there, you go in there and watch and tell you would not do the same father did.”
“I don't care about the reason, you will be punished for your crimes,” Vel said as he squeezed his fist as hard as he could.
“And what crimes are those?” Felix asked casually.
“Please stop. It's beneath you to deny your crimes now,” Vel said in a mocking voice.
“Even your god is not cruel enough to punish a man for the mistakes he made in his past life, don't tell me you are mister Mathew?” Felix said in a serious tone. He didn't care what they were in their past life. In this life, he was his brother, and at least he didn't want to be his enemy.
Seeing how Vel wasn't going to say anything Felix continued, “I'm going to quote my favorite boxing movie to you mister Mathew. I know what you are feeling, let It go." He waited for another second for dramatic effect and again said, "Let it go!"
