《Subject 0001》Chapter 1

"Target is in sight, and all teams are in position," it sounds from the speaker. Harper stares at the map over the location of the team. She fingers her brown, long hair, reaching all the way down to the middle of her back. Her black clothes are formal and simple. She looks at the yellow dots, indicating the position of the special force, then the red dots, indicating the position of the Kreosoans. She sighs. Then looks at the woman sitting next to her, waiting her command. "Give them permission to attack," she says, and the woman immediately talks through the radio, giving the special force the green light. "Move in!" It sound through the speaker, and the yellow dots begins moving on the screen. Harper looks as the red dots are taken down slowly, some disappearing. But now the Kreosoans know the team is there, and suddenly the red dots jump into action, moving towards the different teams. Harper's heart beats faster, as it does every time the special force goes into battle. "Good luck you guys. And bring them all back Anna," she whispers as she looks at the dots moving around.
-
Anna lifts her sword towards a Kreosoan and brings it down, slicing it through with great force, her blond hair flies wildly around her face. The creature leans back it's head, and releases a terrible, ground-shaking, scream of pain.
The Kreosoans are creatures that looks different from anything else that has ever existed on earth, except maybe the dinosaurs. It is a monster, with a T-rex shaped body. It is the height of a full grown man. It has no arms but strong legs capable of running faster than 100 miles an hour, and that is just the top speed that has been noted for the regular ones running. They have no scales, but something that looks more like armor, covering their hole body. Their head, the size of half their body, consist of two predator eyes -with a vision that is unknown since they dissolve only hours after they are killed-, strong armor that can resist the kind of gun humans had when they first arrived to earth, and a mouth that can open 90 degrees, filled with oversized monster teeth in an uncountable number.
The fight against the monsters are raging all around Anna, and even though she and her members appear to be winning, the number of Kreosoans falling drastically, they are still being pushed back, trying to prevent loses. Anna kills another Kreosoan, when she notices in the background, an enormous group of Kreosoans, coming in their direction. Her eyes widen, and not being able to hold it back, her hands tremble, almost dropping the sword. Gunshots stop, as the last nearby Kreosoan is killed, and a cheer rises from the group, all except Anna. "Good job guys! Check the area, and return home," it sounds from the headset, build into the helmet. Anna moves a hand up to a button and clicks it. The microphone is on, but Anna says nothing, paralyzed with fear. "Speak up Anna, what is it?" Asks Harper, most likely able to see or hear that she has turned on the microphone. Anna keeps staring at the front-most Kreosoan of the group. It is at least twice as big as the others, and instead of the usual blackish color. It is a slight yellow. It has four legs, and runs on all of them. Instead of the armorlike suit, it is covered in spikey scales, each the size of a small child.

"Group of 30-plus Kreosoans, approaching from the east, in front is an irregular. Lightning-type," Anna says slowly, her voice trembling. The others stop cheering, having heard what she said. They all turn toward east, and the expression on all of their faces instantly changes to one of fear and desperation. They look around at each other. "What!" Harper asks in a surprised tone. "What shall we do? Please Harper! What?" Anna asks silently, crying. Memories of her brother return to her. Memories of him being ripped apart and eaten by an irregular.
-
Harper stares at the screen in front of her. And at the red dots streaming in from the east. In the lead is a black dot. The irregular. "Shit!" She exclaims as she fists the control panel. The young woman at her side panics as everything on screen is scrambled at the action, and she clicks on buttons in amazing speed, quickly putting everything back to normal. "What would you have us do miss?" Asks a man from behind. He is the leader of the normal unit. "We can have our men out there in half an hour", he says, but Harper knows it will be too late by then. "Get subject 0001" she says through gritted teeth. He stares at her with he's greyish eyes open wide, "are... Are you sure?" He asks uncertain. "Of course i'm not sure! Just get him here already!" She yells, and the man turns and runs towards the door, running left toward the cells.
-
Anna stands unmoving. Still starring at the incoming army, shouts from fellow special force recruits call her name. She doesn't respond, not even bothering to look their way. Someone tugs at her shoulder, pulling her backwards, almost making her stumble onto her back. She looks back, and sees not only her fellow recruit, but also her best friend, Kaylie pulling her along, away from the marching army. Her orange hair is a turmoil. Some of Anna's control return at the sight of her dear friend, and she turns herself around, walking on her own. "You really aren't good at this stuff are you?" She looks at her with a smile, but one of concern. Anna does a forced smile in return, "guess not," she answers. They begin running, trying to catch up with the other recruits. Anna looks over her shoulder as they pass into a formation by the others, and catch a glimpse of the Kreosoans, already half way to their position. They stop in the middle of the others, who has gone into position, crouching with their weapons held high, taking aim at the enemy. One of the others, a girl about same age as Anna herself, walks hastily up to her, and asks with a trembling voice, "what are your orders miss?" Anna looks at her, and thinks of something to say, but ends up with a blank. Desperate to sound confident and not frighten the girl more, Anna replies, "get into position and be ready to hold of the enemy until help arrives!" She says it so that everybody hears, and can take comfort in her words. Anna knows she has basically just told them to do what they have already prepared for, but she also knows hearing it from their leader will comfort them further.

Harper turns back to look at the screen again. Calling for 0001 is a desperate action, she knows so full and well, but with things the way they are, he might be the only chance they have at saving the Special force. The group still undergoing training, still hasn't reached their full potential. Definitely not with their leader, Anna, having the fear of irregulars. Harper knows the reason behind the fear is a good one, but Anna will have to get past it if she wishes to become stronger.
The door opens behind Harper and she turns, looking at 0001. He smiles at her, and she has a hard time seeing the evil behind the smile. His skin has seen little sun, and is in complete contrast with his black hair and eyes. " Subject 0001, held back for stealing, ravaging and not least, killing. Can you guess why you are here?" The boy looks at her. Then pulls his mouth up, and into a thin line, pretending to be thinking hard. "Gonna give me some candy maybe?" He says teasingly with a big smile. He gives a heartily laugh at his own joke and then waves his bound hands dismissively. "I'm guessing you want my help with something, since my sentence want be over anytime soon." He says it, sounding as if he is without a regret in life. Leon is sentenced to a lifetime in the cells, even though anyone who would see him in there would think there was made a mistake. He never tried escaping, even though he without a doubt could in situations like this.
"Yes, we need your help," Harper says, and points at the screen behind her. "Ouch, that ain't good," he says as he sees the scenery. "No, it is not. And I want you to turn the tides. Up for the task?" She looks at him, half expecting a denial, but to her surprise he just shrugs. "Yeah sure, not like I got anything better to do," he says with a smile. "Jeremy, will you take his restraints off?" The leader of the normal troops walks up besides Leon with unease, opens the restraints, and takes a step back. "Well, gotta go!" Leon says with a smile. "Someone has got to save the poor souls." A blackness takes up all of Harper's vision, and when it retreats again, Leon is gone.
-
It isn't long before the Kreosoans are close enough for the group to begin firing, and many enemies fall before they get to do anything at all. But even through the effort of everybody, the war is already lost, and many more than what gets slain infiltrate the formation and begin rampaging. Screams rises from the dust of battle and blood from both races blends together on the bloody field. Anna swings her sword left and right, taking down many kreosoans, doing her part of the fight. Still they loose. Her teammates die all around her, and she can do nothing but fight with all she's got. It isn't much longer before Anna too, is getting exhausted and take a blow by a kreosoan right at her hip, tossing her way back, landing on her side on the ground. She slowly gets onto her feet again, but she can easily feel the damage her leg has taken from the blow, and she won't be able to fight back anymore. The kreosoan start running again. Soon, the final blow will be dealt.
Suddenly, an explosion knocks Anna off her feet and makes her land on her back. Taken aback by the sudden explosion she almost doesn't dodge the dead body of the kreosoan as it flies from the smoke of the explosion. Anna looks around in confusion. Almost all fighting has subsided as everybody turn to see what caused the explosion, both friend and foe. There, in the middle of the explosion, hovering above the ground, is a boy, seemingly same age as Anna. He has a creepy smile on his face, as he looks at the chaos all around. His face is already bloodied by the targets of the first attack. He looks at everybody, until his gaze reaches Anna, where they linger for a moment. "At your service commander," he says as he bows lightly towards her.
