《The Power of Love》Belos His Notice

Emperor Belos lifted his head slightly as he heard a knock on the door. He had been letting his consciousness wander to check on other things while he rested but he could still focus mostly on that as he waited to see if this was something worthy of his attention. He hoped it was. He might have had much coming soon, but right now logistics were all he had to worry about and he’d done too good a job creating his delivery systems to need to worry about them. It was leaving him with less to do than he wished, especially while those under him continued to squabble about who would replace Lilith.

He tapped a single time on his throne to let the guards within the room know to open the door. Unsurprisingly, Kikimora slipped through once the door was open enough for her. Few others would simply knock to get his attention. “Kikimora?”

The small demon bowed respectfully to the emperor before holding up a letter. “A correspondence between our failed coven leader and the owl lady.”

Belos retracted a little more of his consciousness as he sat up. He didn’t say anything though, as Kikimora had standing orders to look for such letters. To wait for an excuse to grab both of the witches again since they were still wild. Until then, he couldn’t ask the populace to try and grab them though, not after his mistake of using the Titan to justify letting them go. Still, it had been two weeks now and he was quite curious as to what was so important as to get The Owl Lady to show herself.

Kikimora nodded before opening the letter and being thankful that her orders were ‘no matter what’ when it came to the contents within. “Ahem. Dear loser. Luz gave Amity a six second side hug today. Your days are numbered.” She then paused to close the letter and add, “And then there’s simply a picture of a butt.”

Belos was silent for an agonizingly long minute. For the guards of course. Kikimora had been through so many of these sorts of meetings where they had to go over someone’s stupidity that was so deep that the emperor had little in the way of response. It usually made for a good laugh between her and her journal.

When Belos did act, he asked, “Amity. Is that the girl that Lilith had an eye on before her exile?”

Kikimora nodded before gesturing for one of the guards to go get a picture of the young witch. “Indeed. One of the Blight’s three kids. She has actually been spotted spending a great deal of time with the human compared to most others. We believe they may be friends.”

Belos brought most of his consciousness back to himself as he raised a hand to the bottom of his mask. He scratched it for a few moments as he considered the situation. It was… intriguing to have such loyal servants connected to someone of such import to his plans. It was made all the more fascinating when he was reminded of just who this Amity Blight was.

Finally, he hummed a sort of laugh. “So the two argue if the human plans to romance this witch?”

Kikimora stood stunned for a moment before remembering herself and forcing out, “I’m sorry, my lord?”

“How long a hug lasts doesn’t matter outside of what a child considers love to be. The Owl Lady is enough of a fool to be considering such things so I believe that’s what the letter is about.”

Kikimora performed a long bow to give herself time to process the idea that the two outlaws would be concerning themselves over something like this, especially now of all times, but the rationales of traitors was not for her to understand. “We shall burn future correspondence of this sort then.”

Belos held a hand up to stop her before another hummed chuckle left him. “No, please, bring them to me. This could be more than it first lets on to be.”

Kikimora looked at the letter, the image of a poorly drawn rear end still clear in her mind as she questioned what else it could mean, before looking back up. “Of course, my liege. Is there anything else you need of me?”

Belos shook his head before slowly lowering it as he let his spirit flow once more. She was right to doubt the letter meant anything. He certainly agreed, especially as The Owl Lady was all too well known for her dubious fascinations with the useless. However, this nagged at his thoughts for one very, very important reason.

Not even he could deny that they would look really cute together.
