《Rising of Grenetas》Chapter 5

Within a few seconds, Johnny had wakened up everyone else.
"What is it?" Jaden asked.
"Look!" Johnny pointed at the dark shadows that were slowly approaching them.
"What are they?" Aruda asked.
"I don't know. Just run!" Johnny shouted.
The others didn't need to be told again. They dashed in the opposite direction. However, shadowy figures appeared from that direction too. Before they knew it, they were surrounded.
"Anybody here has any genius ideas?" Jake asked as the shadows slowly came closer to them.
"We need to use the stone. Jaden, convert your stone into some weapon. All others, provide light to him." Aruda instructed.
Jaden struggled with the gem as he tried to convert it into a weapon.
"Jaden, you need to hurry up!" Aruda shouted.
"It's already hard for me to concentrate with an army of monsters coming towards us. Can you please shut up!" Jaden yelled back.
Finally, he managed to convert the gem into an Assault rifle.
"Have you ever fired that thing?" Johnny asked.
"How hard can it be?" Jaden sprayed bullets at the approaching shadows. Most of the bullets missed the target due to recoil which was unable for him to manage. However, even the bullets that hit the creatures had no impact on them.
"This isn't working." Jaden turned his weapon into a silver dagger just as a creature pounced at him. Aruda too chose that moment to finally convert his gem into a torch for Jaden.
As soon as light fell on the pouncing creature, Jaden could make out its ugly deformed face, dark purple in colour. It had two long fangs coming out of its mouth, bluish in colour which Jaden hoped was not because of poison. The creature indeed was scary; until Jaden pierced through the eyes of the creature with his silver dagger.

"The knife is much better!" Jaden exclaimed.
"We don't have time." Aruda said. Other creatures were approaching towards them. "Show them your moves."
"I can't fight all of them alone. We need to charge at them together!" Jaden shouted.
As the creatures came closer towards them, all except Jake turned their gems into a knife.
"Now! Charge!" Jaden cried.
Jaden, Aruda, Johnny and Susan took a deep breath and charged together at the creatures, ignoring the fact that they were scared half to death. However, it was Jaden once again who did all the work. He stabbed another monster while the others simply ran with their eyes closed, too scared to even face the monsters. However, they managed to scare the monsters, clearing an escape route for them.
"Guys!" Jake shouted as the others made an escape.
"I am coming for you." Aruda took a turn and went back towards Jake who was now surrounded by monsters.
However, he was pushed aside by Jaden just as a monster pounced on him.
"Don't be stupid." Jaden said as he dragged Aruda ahead.
"But I can't leave him behind." Aruda protested.
"I am so sorry about your cousin but we can't save him." Jaden said.
Aruda had to suppress all his urge not to look behind as he heard the screams of Jake and howling of the monsters.

Ursus Ex Machina
Ozzy was a man of the wild. Raised in a remote village atop the world's mightiest mountain, he'd been taught to respect and revere the natural world. The realm he was born into had been there long before him, and it would remain there long after him. Sure, there was the occasional madman who threatened to destroy it, but such boasts were always empty. No one individual was actually capable of demolishing this beautiful blue-and-green ball Ozzy called home. No matter what terrible magics these villains wielded, they were incapable of causing permanent harm to the environment. Even if the planet was completely devastated, it would recover. Life would find a way to flourish, same as it always had. That was what Ozzy believed from the bottom of his heart, so he never once felt the need to save the world he loved. After all, it was never truly in danger. The world would be fine no matter what. The people were a wee bit endangered, but that was another story altogether. However, what would happen if Ozzy suddenly found himself devoid of his beloved wilds? What would the man do if the realm he knew - one of wonder, magic, and chaos - was replaced with a man-made environment of concrete, industry, and steam? Ozzy could never imagine such a thing happening, and yet that was his new reality. After losing a fateful confrontation with a mad wizard, he and his friends found themselves transported to a strange world so thoroughly alien that every waking moment feels like a fever dream. Separated and scattered to the four corners of this land, each of these adventurers will need to adapt, survive, and overcome if they hope to reunite. They would also need to do so quickly. The sooner they are able to find one another, the sooner they can figure out a way back home and have another crack at putting an end to the villain's plans. Whether such a thing was actually possible in a world with barely any magic in it was a valid concern, but Ozzy had more immediate things to worry about. For instance, why did the air smell like a perpetual forest fire? How did ships sail through the sky as if it were water? And most importantly, was the pavement he was hurtling towards at high speed much softer than it looked? Probably not, but a man could hope.
