《The Whitechapel Murderer》The Actual First Murder

It was bothersome for Jessica to climb up all those stairs just to meet someone who has rejected her thrice. She sighed as she went towards the apartment whose door was open.
She was mentally frustrated to see how a detective could be so careless.
She went there furiously but had to slow down as she saw a woman stepping out. The woman had quite wealthy attire.
Jessica was now standing just in front of the woman and she looked at her with widened eyes.
“Looks like Flynn has another guest today. Your hostility obviously attracts people.” She complimented, to which Hebrew was just found glaring at Jessica.
Before Jessica could process anything further the woman looked down and exclaimed,
“Oh! nice heels!”
Jessica looked down and felt a sudden pull towards the inside of Hebrew's house as she saw him grabbing her by her slightly loose shirt. The door was closed by him with a loud thud and Jessica could see how ferrous he was right now. She stood just beside him while her back facing the door. He banged his fist against the door making her flinch.
Placing his head over his fist he sighed deeply, making Jessica wonder what happened between him and that lady. From his reactions, it didn't really seem a pleasant meeting but she didn't have enough confidence to even ask him.
“What are you doing here?” His voice was hoarse.
“I umm-” She suddenly blanked out.
“What?!” He yelled and looked at her.
“Uh...I-I found the missing report guy.” She exclaimed.
A sudden reaction of ease could be seen on his face, but a little slight though. He took a second looking slightly here and...there, then he looked at her.
“Come inside.” He made his way towards his glass board.

“Should have informed prior before comi-”
“Never had your number...” She interrupted straight, confidently.
Hebrew looked at her and without showing any obvious expression he sat on an old wooden chair offering Jessica a seat too. She slightly nodded and sat obediently.
“Be straight to the point, I'm a bit busy. Probably...expecting someone.” He requested
“According to the missing report, he named himself as Andrew and had given an address to contact if found anything further.” He nodded diligently.
“So...I went there. But since I had no photo of him no one was able to recognise him. I even showed them the photocopy of the ring he wore but there was no result until I saw the same ring he wore in the footage with an old woman. She was probably...selling her goods near that street....”
~~~~~
“Where did you find this ring ma'am?” Jessica asked the woman politely.
“Find?” She let out a small laugh.
“I make these rings darling...It's a handmade one.” Jessica took out the photocopy of the ring she had and it matched perfectly.
“Then...can you tell me, if you ever sell this ring to someone nearly my age? A guy?...” She interrogated.
“Many people buy this ring, everyday darling. With my age how can I remember all those customers?” She said.
Jessica nodded as she hit a dead-end. She was halfway walking away when that lady called her out again.
“Yes ma'am?” Jessica quickly responded.
“But there was this one customer I clearly remember who asked me to make fifty more copies of this ring and send it to his address.” She claimed.
“Can you give his address?” Jessica pleaded.
“Umm...but?”
“Ma'am trust me, I'm a detective and he is somehow involved in a murder case.” The lady gasped.
She quickly took out a small diary and showed it to Jessica,
“Make sure to catch him...” The old lady exclaimed and Jessica went away smiling...
~~~~~
“This is it, I was in a hurry so...I tore this page from her diary.” She confessed.
Hebrew took the diary page from her hand and traced it out from his eyes.
“Flower and Dean Street.”
“Anything else Ms?” He looked up at her.
His eyes were monotonous, not giving even the slightest hint of what he was thinking.
“Who was that woman?” She asked, being hesitant.
He glared at her, “None of your business.”
She had no choice but to abide.
“And?..." He knew she had something else to say too.
Folding her arms above her chest she nodded, “I want to be your assistant detective.” He sighed in frustration.
Rubbing his eyes with his right hand while the other was holding the diary page he mumbled, “You can't even bear the sight of the corpse and you want to assist me through this case?”
She looked at her interlocked fingers playing with each other in nervousness, “It was just...so unexpected and I never thought that the murder would be so...so inhumane-”
“The way you think this world is...it is way more haunting than that. You won't even know who around you is lying and who you can trust. A naive like you...can never compete.”
He stood up, “Mr Hebrew...you think I'm incompetent?” He turned towards her.
“I've been handling this case for two weeks now. You don't even know the whole thing, how much more I have to do to prove myself?!” She was frustrated.
Her eyes slightly wet, “I'm halfway solving the first case and you-”
“See...” Hebrew interrupted.
“Just a little provocation...” He slightly bent down.
“Huh?”
Jessica never understood whom she was talking to. Flynn Hebrew was a master of provoking and manipulating people into his talks resulting in spitting the things they are hiding. while Jessica was just a naive detective. Someone who would never be able to cope up with Hebrew's intelligence.
“You...Spoke up everything.”
Jessica looked in Hebrew's green eyes.
“I-”
“I knew everything, just needed to hear it from someone...” He declared.
“You can't even keep confidential to yourself. And so...you can't be trusted.”
He stood upright and turned to go, a smirk formed on his lips. While Jessica sat there in shock, she just now blurted out everything which Winchester had asked her to hide from him. Her heart raced and her breathing became shaky.
While walking towards his room Hebrew turned around, “Go home Ms Lennon, whatever you did till now helped a lot. Now, since I'm here...I'll handle it from now. Make sure to close the door properly. The killer is still out there...” And he went inside.
Jessica stood up, her eyes were completely flooded. All the hard work she had been doing since she came here after completing her studies went in vain.
She just wanted to prove that a woman can be a detective too, a lead detective. She wanted to solve this case, but now she has nothing to do.
She can't go to Winchester, he'll probably fire her from this case. She is not even an assistant detective on this case, now there's nothing to do. But there's one question that has been bugging her lately. She wants an answer to it and the only person who seems to do so is Winchester…

8 203Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
