Awakened Ones

The little ones moved. More and more of the Gatherish had the light. It spread rapidly. Faster than we could count. Faster than we could follow. The Gatherish became many. More, much more than we ever were. But the Corruption were still many more.

It was difficult to ignore them - the Gatherish and Corruption. Their fighting escalated faster than anything we imagined. It was inevitable that the Gatherish would fail. Except every time we thought they would fail, they succeeded - or at least survived - and the light spread.

The Corruption found more of us while we hid - while the Gatherish proceeded - they killed us. But still we remained hidden.

We argued with our youngest brother. He joined the Gatherish. Admired them. He couldn't understand his folly, his weakness.

Then our eldest sister and another young brother left their places of hiding to join the Gatherish. Foolish. And yet we all wondered.

Our brothers and sister relay to us that a small group of the Gatherish have gone to the Corruption to battle. The largest congregation of Corruption we have seen. Their center. Their core. The Corruption thought they were safe. Who would dare attack them when they are in such large number? Their enemy is fated to die if they try, right?

So why is our brother so confident the Gatherish will win?

Do we remain hidden? Do we take this chance and join with the Gatherish to push the destruction of the Corruption once and for all? Do we wait for the next aliens who can possess the light? Wait for ones who will listen to us and not argue with us? Do we wait? Or do we move and take the chance that we can defeat the Corruption? If we move and fail there will be no one to pass on the light.

We stir. We move.

We awaken.
