《The Blessed Princess》Love & Hatred (Prologue)

There once was a little goddess named Love. Born on the day, the goddess of creation fell in love with her world. Love represented peace, harmony, and warmth. She had pale blonde hair and sparkling frost colored eyes. Creation adored Love. She adored her to death. Creation also had other children. Like Birth, Time, Lust, Wealth, and Glory. She adored all of them, but she cherished Love the most.

She had one particular son, named Hatred. He was mischievous and exuded an aura of evil. The Goddess wasn't keen with him, though, and threw him in the shadows. Her people did too, leaving him out when they worshiped the gods. His brothers and sisters would receive many gifts while he received none.

Day by day, his anguish, pain, and envy grew, and he turned towards chaos. He terrorized the people his brothers and sisters ruled over and hurt the ones people loved most. The Goddess of Creation was furious with him and banished him in a crystal ball.

His sister, Love, had heard about him and was very curious. One day she decided to sneak into her Mother's room and steal the crystal ball. She crept in successfully and proceeded to satisfy her curiosity. With a light touch of her finger, she entered the ball and met the boy.

At first glance, you must have thought, "Oh no! Hatred must've harmed her!" but that is not the case. When Hatred saw her, he couldn't help but gasp at her beauty. When Hatred saw her all the misery, he felt vanished into thin air, and he fell... he fell... in love.

Ever since that faithful meeting, Love had been meeting him in the crystal ball. She taught him about peace, harmony, friendship, and, most importantly, love. Hatred, little by little, started to change, and his heart filled with the warmth that Love had given him.

Together in the ball, they would dance to a silent song. Hatred held Love's waist and pulled her closer toward him as they danced. Finally, when the soundless song in their divine minds had almost come to an end, Hatred asked Love, "Will you marry me?"

"Oh?" She replied, giggling, "But you must be kidding."

"No, Love, I'm serious. Will you marry me?" Hatred asked again.

This time Love was hesitant; she didn't want to hurt Hatred. "I'm sorry, Hatred, but I'm already in love with someone else. How could I marry you?"

Hatred paused, then asked her again, "Will you marry me?"

"No," Love replied promptly.

Hatred's eyes widened with anger. "Yes, you will!" he yelled and grabbed Love by her wrist. He pulled her close and cupped her cheek in his hand. His face was frightening, and his eyes flared.

"No, I won't. I don't love you that way." Love pulled her wrist away.

"Then who do you love?!"

"A human." Love replied softly.

This enraged Hatred even more, and his body started to turn into a monster. His skin turned charcoal black, and he grew ugly wings.

"WHY MUST YOU LOVE SOMEONE AS WEAK AS A HUMAN MY DEAR SISTER? ALL THIS TIME I'VE SPENT WITH YOU AND YOU STILL DON'T LOVE ME AS MUCH AS A MERE HUMAN?" Hatred roared.

Love collapsed onto the floor and started to weep. She cried, knowing the pain she caused Hatred, and she felt sorry. But she loved the human, oh, how she really loved the human.

The sound of Love's weeping made Hatred sad. He flew towards her and wrapped her in his wings. He held her chin up to his face with his now claw-like hands. A tear ran down her cheek, and he wiped it away. He didn't want to see Love cry, so he turned back to normal and apologized. He told her that she could love whoever she wanted as long as she was his friend. He never asked her to marry him again, but he watched her marry someone else.

Love's visits to him became less frequent and he became more lonely day by day. Alone in the crystal ball, Hatred asked, "Does anyone love me?"

"There is no such thing." a voice replied. At this point, Hatred could no longer hold back his suffering.

I cannot say any more; this tale ends here. The rest... is too saddening to tell...
