《AROWNE'S REBIRTH》CHAP6
Advertisement
this was the start of the journey of cultivation, after the instructor left to his corner on the field, impatient, Arowne quickly sat down against a tree, closed his eyes and started following the breathing pattern of the falkirk cultivation technique
and after a few minutes of breathing in that way Arowne felt strained and stopped breathing in that way
on this first try Arowne didn't feel any difference in his blood, in fact he didn't even feel it, it was just that he was tired after that, as if he ran a marathon in his previous world
and after opening his eyes he noticed that the sun changed position,
asking the people around he found out that he had been at it for 1 hour, thing is he felt that only 5 minutes elapsed
and that's when he felt the wonders of cultivation, it was really a mysterious thing, to cultivate,
and when Arowne wanted to start the breathing exercise again, he couldn't
even after taking a break and wanting to start again he couldn't, before doing anything else he called his 'status screen'
Name: Arowne Age: 5y10m22d(+) Race: Superior Gender: Male Attributes Physic: 0.5 Mental: 1.0/2 Vitality: 1.8 Magic: 3 Status: Healthy Perks: System, Talented(grade:high)(coverage:all), Scan, Smart, Magic Affinity(+), Strong soul Cultivation: Techniques: falkirk cultivation technique(body training)(1%) Skills:
after checking his status he thought
'i don't know but i have a strong feeling that mental attribute has a role on how long or how much i can practice the breathing exercise'
and so after making that deduction he decided to go and ask the instructor
"greetings sir, i have a question to ask of you" he said
then the instructor replied "go ahead young one" all the while he kept a piercing gaze at our poor Arowne while he thought 'hmmm, truly talented, to be able to practice the breathing technique on the first day for 1 hour, a very good talent'

"Sir, i was doing the breathing exercise earlier, and after finishing i felt very tired, so i took a rest and after recovering a little i intended to give it another go but couldn't even after trying multiple times, could you please enlighten me sir?"
still keeping that aggressive gaze he replied "very well, in the Warrior path one need a strong will and a strong vigor, so when one start to practice he will consume one of the tow and when they are spent then no matter how much you rest it will not recover fast enough, the most efficient way to recover them is through sleep or medicine or food,
for the will it is used when practicing breathing technique, it is believed that when one is doing the breathing exercise his concentration is at its peak and that put a lot of stress on ones spirit wich consumes your will, it was recorded that in many cases where people tried to overcome their limits and ended up in best cases unconscious and worst cases idiots
and as for the vigor, it is the essence of our bodies, it is the potential which we draw from to strengthen our selves as warriors, and so it is very important to maintain it by sleep and food or medicine
so for most warriors that lack resources they train in their cultivation arts once, while depending on the grade of medicine used one can train for longer and multiple times a day"
"thank you sir, and if the warriors train only once what can they do to get stronger" Arowne asked
"good question, for us warriors we don't only have cultivation but martial arts as well, those mystic art are a very important part of a cultivation technique but also independent, they can be used in fighting as well

so we practice them and master them as much as we can, one of the strongest warriors in history once said *i do not fear a warrior who practiced countless fighting techniques but one that has practiced one fighting technique countless times* so every warrior should always take martial arts seriously"
Arowne thought 'well that resembles a quote from a kungfu master from my previous world, interesting ' what a ripoff buuuuu i say
and so the instructor closed his eyes as a sign for Arowne to leave, and as soon as he came back the instructor was flooded with people asking questions, at this the instructor scowled even more deeply, but inside he was delighted, hard on the outside soft in the inside, unlike the protagonist that is always scheming inside, and portraying the image of an obedient kid
so as he got what he wanted he immediately went into a corner and started punching according to falkirk style, as well as thinking about the future, this place is just a remote one where resources, even though not scarce, they are not up to bar, the highest medicine for example is only rare, in the entire empire
so you could guess about how bad it is, and to cement this further check what the 'scan' had to say about the cultivation technique practiced by our protagonist
[falkirk cultivation technique: a cultivation manual made by the ancestor falkirk, and had been perfected by the successive generations of the falkirk family, it is of common grade, capable of achieving up to the eight gates stage, this manual even though is the highest grade among trash, it is still trash, but could lay foundation for a better one in the future, final assessment : TRASH]
'sigh what a shitty place i started in, and it is even considered one of the best cultivation techniques in the empire' even more reason to leave

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
