《Bastion Of Heroes》Chapter 31

A young man laid smacked down on the conference table in front of Seth. Everything happened instantly, but Seth was able to witness how it went down.
When the man that had introduced himself as King Kong about a week ago had charged with his fist raised, Sheila had moved in and grabbed the incoming fist. She had twisted the arm and forced the young man to hit the table while she still held his arm before him. Then something happened that Seth thought that he imagined it.
Sheila eyes glowed.
It was for just a brief moment, but Seth managed to catch a glimpse of it. He also saw King Kong’s eyes becoming cloudy. Then both of their eyes returned back to normal.
King Kong upper body was still on the conference table while one of his arms still in Sheila’s grasp. His face held a dazed expression.
“While you are in this building, you will behave yourself. If you have business with Mr. Colls here you can finish it outside later. Now take a seat. Thank you, Tracey, I'll handle him from here.” Sheila nodded to the lady who had brought in the rude guest.
Seth expected King Kong to show more resistance after being manhandled, but when Sheila released the arm she was holding, and King Kong obediently sat down across Seth.
“This here is Kong Kravos. I believe you have met already.”
So that was King Kong’s actual name. It sounded surprisingly normal compared to the brazen person he had first met so many nights ago. Seth quietly nodded in confirmation. Whatever Sheila did, it left Kong subdued, something Seth did not want to experience for himself. Kong was handed the same documents and instructions that Seth was given just moments before. There were no questions, but when the stipend was mentioned, Dave Kong accelerated the pace of signing the documents.

When all the documents were signed, Sheila collected them all and led the two boys out. She said “I will now be leading you to the person who will in charge of you during your internship. They will be your direct supervisor. If for some reason you cannot talk to them about a topic, then you may talk to me as the head supervisor.”
Sheila led the boys to a office and then knocked on the door. When no reply came, she tried again. After a moment of awkward silence, she said Excuse me for just a moment.”
Sheila took a card and swipe it on the identification pad and the door opened. Sheila entered the room and the two boys followed. What immediately caught Seth’s eyes was the massive piles of paper on the desk. Sheila cleared her throat and the piles collapsed as a head popped up.
“I'm awake! I’m awake! I wasn’t sleeping or anything!” said a middle age man with a goatee. He looked well-built and athletic while wearing Federation uniform.
Sheila sighed at the appearance of this man. “This is Major Jackson. He will be your supervisor for your internship. If you have any questions or difficulties, you can ask him for help.”
Officer Jackson apparently wasn’t fully awake as his response was “Who? W-what?”
Sheila once again sighed. “ Major Jacks Jackson. These are the two new interns that you be responsible for. We spoke about this the other day already.”
“Right! I remember now. Yep we did talk about it, “ Major Jackson answered.
“Good. Then I'll leave them to you. Have a good day.” Sheila walked out of the office.
Major Jackson stood up and looked at the two teenagers in front of him. He said “Might as well introduce yourselves. We’re going to be spending a lot of time together from now on I suppose. “

“Seth Colls.”
“Kong Kravos.”
“Got it, just call me Jacks then. I don’t like all the tiles and what not. Too much trouble,” Major Jackson said and then paused. “ But you should call the Base Commander by their title and the lady before as Ms. Nadeem. Both of them are a stickler for the rules. Most people don’t really care too much about the ranks and titles around here, but those two. Trust me, you do not want to see what happens when you get on their nerves. Alright, follow me.”
After witnessing what happen to Kong in the conference room, Seth could only agree with Jacks’s statement. He could only imagine how the base commander would handle a hostile situation. Seth took a moment to think how he addressed the older lady. He did not remember actually saying her name throughout the conversation with her. If he did, hopefully she didn’t take it too personally.
Major Jackson led the boys to various parts of the Federation building. They were shown the dining hall, the lounge, the different departments, and the library. He stopped at one particular room that had a sturdier door than others and said “Wait here a sec. This is one of the experimental rooms for research and development departments. Need to borrow something real quick.” With that said, Jacks enter the room after swiping a card on the security panel.
A few moments later, Seth heard a crash and then saw Jacks rushing out with a spherical object in his hands. He motioned for the boys to follow quickly as possible they set off at a brisk pace. A feminine yell could be heard coming from the room causing Seth to jump a bit.
Then Seth saw Jacks sprinting out the door and motion the boys to follow. He heard a shriek from the room calling for a certain officer a moment later.
“JACKS I KNOW IT WAS YOU WHO TOOK THAT PROTOTYPE. YOU BETTER RETURN IT RIGHT NOW!”
“CAN IT! I'M JUST BORROWING IT!” Jacks yelled back at the room as they continued.
“IF YOU’RE GOING TO TAKE IT, LET ME KNOW SO I CAN GET SOME DATA!”
“JACKS IF YOU’RE GOING TO TAKE SOMETHING AT LEAST HELP WITH THE EXPERIMENTS!”
“SHUT IT LADY! NOBODY GOT TIME FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS AND PRODDING THAT YOU GUYS DO!
“WAIT! IF YOU’RE GOING TO TAKE IT AT LEAST REMEMBER TO RECORD THE DATA! TAKE THE CAMERA. I know I have it here somewhere...”
The voice died down as the group got further away. It wasn’t until it seem like they were a good distance that Jacks decided to give them an explanation.
“Damn, I was hoping they wouldn’t notice,” Jacks swore under his breath and explain to the two staring boys. “Damn researchers a pain in the arse. I was hoping to sneak in and out. Remember guys, don’t let the researchers catch you for any experiment. They’ll grill you all day with questions without a break.”
“Now we got one more stop. Hopefully they wont be as troublesome.”
