《Bastion Of Heroes》Chapter 9

“Tonight's event will be knockout style! The names have already been submitted, so we’ll be calling them out now. If you still wish to place your bet, you can still do so now at www.*********. All bets are closed when the match starts. Will the combatants step forward please for the first match of the night?”
“A fighter that known for his size, we have GIGANTIC! He’s been with us for a long time, but he had never been crowned champion. Will tonight be the night? Will he walked away with the crown tonight as a winner? AAANNNNDDDD his opponent for tonight, a long time fighter and last year’s champion, KING KONG!”
Two people step forward and jumped down onto the roof below Seth's current standing viewpoint. They walked to the middle where the drones were. One was wearing simple cloth such as tank top and shorts while covering his face with a gorilla mask. His was toned and muscular.
His opponent looked normal at first. However after each step, their body seem to grow in size. When the person had reached the ring, they were a massive figure, being at least double the height of the gorilla mask figure. His face was wrapped in bandages, leaving space for the eyes and mouth. He was wearing a simple white shirt and shorts that looked simply too small on his massive build. Both people stopped at a marked circle and faced each other.
“Are the two fighters ready?” Both fighters nodded an affirmation at the question and got into their stances. King Kong had both fist up in a boxer’s stance while Gigantic had both arms spread out wide open.
“Then let tonight’s rooftop’s challenge BEGAN!!” Cheers could be heard from the gathered audience as they view the spectacle below. The drones carrying the lights and speakers began to ascend to higher heights to avoid any blows from the fight.

“Both charge straight in!! Gigantic 's big, but he’s fast! He’s going for a grab, and King Kong swerves just in time! Gigantic tries to pin King Kong down, but no luck!. Each swing of his arms seems to just miss their mark! King Kong is dodging each blow by just the skin of his teeth! ”
Seth observed the fight along with the audience with bated breath. The announcer wasn’t wrong with their commentary, but the fight was not was close enough as the announcer had put it. The gorilla mask may have hid King Kong’s face, but Seth could sense a confidence coming out from the smaller fighter.
Gigantic’s blow could easily shatter bones, but that was only if they hit. His overwhelming size actually worked against himself in this fight. The huge blows were clumsy and messy. Most likely it was anger messing up Gigantic judgement after each missed blow.
King Kong on the other hand seem to be taking it easy and just putting on a show. Perhaps it was because they had faced each other in a fight before, King Kong knew how to handle his opponent. Almost any second now, King Kong should be wrapping up the fight soon.
“-into a corner! King Kong ducks, swerves and weaves through each blow! Gigantic charges in like a bull and King Kong uppercuts HIM! Is this the final blow?”
Seth watched the huge figure stagger back and forth, dizzy from the punch. He collapses a moment later with a large thud. The announcer began the countdown.
“-5...4...3...2... and 1! AND THE WINNER IS KING KONG FOLKS!”
Seth watched King Kong kick Gigantic’s body and the vanquished opponent slid to the edge of the roof. He drummed on his chest with both hands and raised one fist, driving the crowd into a excited frenzy.

“KING KONG! KING KONG! KING KONG!”
The announcer’s voice boomed over the crowed, slowly stopping the chanting.
“Alright folks that was the championship fight! But we’re not done for the night! As most of you know there is a quite the substantial pot for the winner. WE’RE DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT TONIGHT! King Kong may be the winner of tonight’s fight, but if there is anyone willing to beat him in a fight, then THEY will the one walking away tonight with the money! SO ARE THERE ANY TAKERS?! ARE THERE ANY BRAVE ENOUGH TO TAKE ON THIS CHALLENAGE?”
Murmurs rippled across the crowd. This was a rare turn of events. Most nights involved different fights between different opponents and most of tonight’s audience had been expecting a longer fight. Rarely do fights continue throughout the night after a championship fight, especially not one after the other.
Seth saw the hesitation could be seen the bodies of the crowd members. No one was foolish enough to take on a fighter who had been a champion three years in a row. Amateur fighters they may be, but stupid was not one of the traits from the gathered fighters. Fighters knew how to differentiate a winning fight and a losing one.
Perhaps except for one person.
Seth took a deep breath and jumped down.

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment. Amir: A Short Horror Story
"My throat became dry; my tongue felt like sandpaper scraping against the top of my mouth. My mind became fuzzy. I had no chance of survival against this, this thing, and It was toying with me. It seemed to see the fear in my eyes and laughed, the metal sounding voice screeching like nails on a chalkboard. " I wrote this when I was young, and I haven't touched it since 2019, so don't worry about it.
